Both shows have: crazy worlds full of weird shid, bizarre characters and odd plot and that's pretty much it...

Similar crazy cities which is the norm

With strange creatures etc

Dorohedoro is more violent and gore

As soon as I started Dorohedoro I was reminded of Blood Blockade Battlefront.

Both have a similar mixutre of characters with lighthearted charm and goasl with high stakes, unusual worlds where anything can happen, and a sense of mystery regarding exploring the unknown

Starletka Starletka says...

The plot of both series consists of little stories following a bunch of seemingly random crazy characters in a world of pure chaos

Both have bizarre world and brutal fights, and I like both quite a lot. Chainsaw Man is currently airing, but given what we have so far, I feel fairly comfortable speaking to the quality of it. Both also utilize 3D animation, albeit to differing extents. If you like one, you'll likely like the other.

Mangaka of CM got a lot of inspiration from Dorohedoro. Both are horror, violent scenarios but with humor and fun friendships.

Dorohedoro and Dororo share a lot of similarities (including the half similar names! XD)

Both shows have

  • Violence, bloodbath
  • Satisfying fight scenes
  • Main character going on a quest to get their bodies/human form back
  • Another supportive main character accompanying them
  • Made by MAPPA

While both shows have these common points, they are also very distinct from each other. So it's not like one is an altered version of the other. You'll surely love both of these shows if you're okay with heavy themes like explicit violence and death.

Both shows have a protagonist who his head was turned into an animal and wake up without any memories of knowing who they are and what they are supposed to do. Both are good at fighting and go along helping other characters in need. Both shows have good character designs and lots of world-building.

However, Guin is a more serious show, while Dorohedoro is part comedy and easy going.

They share a similar kind of humor, have a realy complex world with no black in white characters. Nobody is totaly evil or good, they are just human.

Although Golden Kamuy is much more family friendly, both share some moments of gore. Sometimes the gore is a marriage betwwen grotesque and hilarious.

While the storylines are a bit different, it has a bit of the same dark vibe and in my oppinion the animationstyle is much a like. Both main characters have a none human head (and also have a blonde female companion/partner). Both enjoyable anime, though my preference goes more towards Dorohedoro if I'm completely honest. No Guns Life (season 1 and season 2) should be able to fill your time in the same theme-ish until Dorohedoro season 2.

In many many ways these shows are completely different. The plots are different, the genres are different and the style of each is different.

BUT one thing is very familiar between them and that is the relationship of the two leads. If you love the dynamic of Deunan and Briareos then I think you'll love that similar dynamic between Nikaido and Kaiman. They aren't cut and paste in terms of personalities but similar enough that I believe fans of either of these shows could find the others appealing, especially if the main characters were a large draw for you in either show.

Both seems to be written by psychos in a very good way, have a similar atmosphere and humor, charismatic villains, a very intricate world and very distinct art style. Storywise, they are very unlike each other but both extremely enjoyable.

Dorohedoro is one of my fav anime ever, so I'm very pleased to have found Idaten, it's like a breeze of fresh ideas in a saturated world of cliche anime.

I suggest this just because of the unique somewhat bleak but well thought out world building in both. Soul Eater is infinitely less brutal but if you appreciated the world that Dorohedoro built i think you can get a liking to Soul Eater as well
