Law enforcement in the future? Tank police or Special forces these two animes have female main characters and alot of android and futuristic stuff. They also have the same style of anime and story. Enjoy!

Ripzter Ripzter says...

Both animes have a similar feel to them. We have a futuristic world where the good guys are trying to preserve the peace. Both series are very good older animes that people should go and watch.

Rar Rar says...

Appleseed and Dominion Tank Police share not only a similar city-of-the-furtue setting, but often the same kind of humor as well, the darker metropolis in Tank Police being ofset by a lighter tone than the slightly more serious Appleseed.

WM2K WM2K says...

The manga that Appleseed and Tank Police are based on are penned by Masumne Shirow, who also wrote Ghost in the Shell. These are both quite fun and feature cute munchkin girls in lead roles. Appleseed in particular is great. Both these shows demonstrate Shirow's preoccupation with mechanised warfare; the pen may be mightier than the sword, but in a tank you're king.

Venus Wars

Venus Wars

Set in the 21st century on a recently terraformed Venus, Venus Wars is the story of a war between two opposing nations, and the effect it has on a group of teenagers. Dark and gritty, with an air similar to that of Akira, it focuses on coming of age during the midst of a planet's devastating war.

Dominion Talk Police and Venus wars aren't so much alike, but the animation style is very similar, and they both have huge tanks and take place sometime in the near future on some other planet. The one thing that Dominion Talk Police has that Venus Wars doesn't, is strange animal characters.

zethib zethib says...

Very much the sense style, same era. It has the racing style of advanced design and the rythm of the music is comparable, it basically has the same soul. These were part of the PFC Manga Video collection in the early 90s to board Europe at the same time.

Both Venus Wars and Dominion Tank Police share a similar animation style, futuristic post-apocalypic urban settings, and killer retro soundtracks. Joe Hisaihi, known for his truly amazing work on many Studio Ghibli films, is responsible for the synth-soaked Venus Wars OST. You can tell that these anime were produced at the same time, and both holdup well. Weather you're looking for some nostalgia or just to enjoy some great 80s anime, you can't go wrong with either. If one left you wanting more, it is worth your time to checkout the other. You're in store for more retro-style action.

Hyper Police

Another police force made up of "not-quite-human" crew, as well as interesting humor. The one thing that Dominian Tank Police still has though has tanks of course.

NekoRocket NekoRocket says...

Both Hyper Police and Dominion Tank Police are set in a somewhat distant future in which ridiculously bizarre things happen. Both are very entertaining and funny.

Drahken Drahken says...

Both of these shows are about the comedic adventures of a group of unique police, who often cause more damage than the suspects they persue.

Two very good buddy cop dramas. One by Kensuke Fujishima, the other by Masamune Shirow. BOTH DAMN GOOD!

Both of these shows tell the humorous adventures of wild female police with a passion for their machines.

Bringing criminals to justice with comedic consequences appears to be a common theme in Gunsmith Cats and Dominian Tank Police. While I wouldn't call these action packed, they do have great stories and really interesting characters.

MalteseFalcon MalteseFalcon says...

Girls, guns and plenty of destruction. That pretty much sums up both Gunsmith Cats and Dominion Tank Police (though the later has plenty of male characters too).

Really, if you enjoyed one of these and are in the mood for more mayhem, try the other on for size.

Bubblegum Crisis

Bubblegum Crisis

The year is 2032. Tokyo has been destroyed by a great earthquake and a new city, MegaTokyo, has risen from the ashes. Humans now live side-by-side with androids known as Boomers who perform many of the menial and laborious tasks that humans despise, but these artificial servants come with a price: they have a tendency to go haywire and attack those they were built to serve. The A.D. Police force was created to try and stop this menace, but its weapons can do little more than annoy the Boomers. Hope lies with the Knight Sabers, four young women with high-tech, armored suits and enough firepower to stop an army - but will it be enough to stop MegaTokyo's greatest threat?

Another near future technophyle anime. Again, its just as serious, but Bubblegum Crisis is a very good action/drama about the struggle against a heartless world conglomerate. Well... it IS....

Rar Rar says...

The rather dark future vision shared by Crisis and Dominion is offset by their light hearted and humorous moments, and just a hint of ecchi. Overall, Crisis is more strongly plotted, but both will provide good entertainment if you enjoyed the other.

Dirty Pair

Dirty Pair

The WWWA, or 3WA as it is affectionately known, is dedicated to one thing: The prosperity and well being of all the peoples of the Galactic League. The Dirty Pair are Kei and Yuri, the 3WA's top crime division female operatives with a 100% clean-up rate. The problem lies in the extreme collateral damage they cause to people and property in the single minded pursuit of their duty; including, if absolutely necessary, the wholesale destruction of cities, continents and even planets! No-one is safe, whether it be criminals, rogue robots, crazed computers and more likely, innocent bystanders!

The same mass chaos and destruction mixed with hijinks and hilarity. The Lovely Angels never ask for trouble but it always comes their way. In the form of Kidnappings, Robbers, Pirates, and super criminals. Almost always ending in their trademark destruction of anything in the way. Earning them the nickname "The Dirty Pair" which if said to them is certain to get you decked.

Mao-chan

Mao-chan

A world plagued by alien invasions needs heroes, and what better choice than three girls in elementary school? After all, it's best to fight fire with fire, and the super-cute aliens have met their match in the super-cute Mao, Misoria, and Silvia. Mao-chan is almost sickeningly cute compared to Dominion Tank Police, but both are light-hearted stories of funny characters fighting to protect the innocent with very unorthodox means... overly strong firepower.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Neon Genesis Evangelion

I don't know if you really can compare these two with each other. But like tank police NGE gives a nice future setting. Evangelion gives a much more in depth vision on the characters too. Ofcourse some action and destruction is invloved also.

Ghost in the Shell

Ghost in the Shell
