Okay, no use denying it... The reason I watched this was for the ecchi content. That being said, it does deliver. However, it also highlights just how empty that ecchi feels without an actual story around it. He gets girls to disrobe, at least partially, just by begging. That's the entire storyline. It has no real purpose. What's more, the female characters are so weak-willed as to agree simply because he is begging. There may be something cultural here, some greater status the Japanese give to the formal begging method of kowtow but the idea it could even work makes it the greatest stretch of science fiction in the history of sci fi. I will have to say, after putting up with the whole series, at least the ending was something of the protaganist getting what he deserved. Without that ending, the score would have been half.

How might someone come upon watching Dogeza? As one might assume, the natural response woud be to look through various ecchi titles that mention "nudity". At the time when I started reading Dogeza there was no notice of an adaptation. Though, suprisingly in one of the later chapters it mentioned there would an anime adaptation in the near future. I was looking forward to the anime to see which seiyuu would be voicing the main character. As different people can deliver roles in various ways with unique dynamics. Upon reading the cast list I noticed Sugita Tomokazu would be voicing the main character. If you know Tomokazu's roles in previous anime, i.e. Gintama,  then you know he can play both a serious and comedic character. Which is exactly what he does in Dogeza. Given that each episode spans only a couple minutes, Tomokazu can make each of those few minutes awkward, cringy, or down right hysterical. After watching 3 episodes I found myself singing Tomokazu's lines in the ending song. Oddly it reminds me how people chant when listening to their favorite idol. In short, Dogeza has your standard -dere attitudes, character types (i.e. childhood friend, teacher, etc.), moderate animation, some nudity, funny moments, and a repetitive setting as the title would imply.

I mean, we all know why we are watching it right? I actually found this specific genre randomly and found it quite intriguing. Since then I sometimes partake in research with my fellow men of culture to discover the secrets of the universe. Such is the vow we made when we decided to take on this mantle of cultured people. But I won't give it a high score cause it wasn't really creative. It coud have been more fun... or cringe depending on how you twist it. It just felt repetitive and the personalities of the girls, aside for maybe the kuudere and the yandere, weren't that impressive. It felt too much like a game, which it is obviously inspired from but it could've been more organic. I don't know, I don't like how it is now. Let's hope the next season gets better.
