Dog & Scissors - Reviews

This anime is quite enjoyable but i am not gonna lie about it being fking weird and disgusting. The anime follows a guy who reincarnated as a dog and is now living with his favourite author ok good plot but what comes after is the problem like the story itself is ok considering it is indirectly a slice of life but the amount of subtle bestiality promotion is gross and i can bet that the author is definitely a zoophile. Like akiyama is always talking the weirdest thing anyone can think of like just watch the end of ep 2💀. Like i said the show is quite entertaining because the characters are quite funny but some characters like the landlady and hot spring lady were kinda useless but the rest are okay. The animation is good considering it was made in 2013 but there are moments the structures look like it came from a video game like the helicopter scene from ep 11. The soundtrack was kinda mid but ok. Overall if u want to have fun u can watch it but i would warn you about the subtle bestiality mentioning and promotions in between.

Story wasnt all that, and has no plot line but very funny and a chilled anime. 

Right, it's confession time for me. If you have been reading my reviews than you may have noticed that I tend to rip the anime a new one. There is a reason for this though and it has to do with the fact that I can't turn my brain off when watching anime. I can't ignore the stupid shown in the anime and this is a problem as most anime are very stupid indeed.

In this case I'm not talking about a 90 pound girl catching a multi-ton cruise missile and throwing it back. Yes, it is stupid but it is a stupid that I'll allow. It's anime. Things like this are normal here and I'm pretty much fine with it. It annoys me to be sure but I will not rant about it.

So, having explained this lets rip into this anime shall we? Just a heads up: There will most probably be spoilers. The more I hate an anime the more spoilers there will be.

ART: Art is fine. I've said it before and I'll say it many more times: It is near impossible to screw this up these days.

SOUND: Again no complaints from me. I can no longer remember any of the music used but this is how I prefer it. Voice acting were decent even if they get to do the same thing over and over.

CHARACTERS: Main character is the Kazuhito. He has only one defining charaseristic in that he loves books.

Kirihime is a famous writer who is considered one of the greatest young and upcoming writers of her generation. She is also a massive sadist who loves cutting things with her scissors. She is known under her pen name Shinobu.

STORY: Kazuhito is a student who lives alone and has a passion for books. One of his favorite writers is Shinobu, who is famous for her 'deadly sins' series. While the series is almost done, the final book still hasn't come out. One day, Kazuhito, gets involved in a armed robbery and takes a bullet for a young woman. He dies but his wish to read the final book of the 'deadly sins' series brings him back to live. Unfortunately he gets revived as a dog and the only one who can hear him is Kirihime. She buys him and while he is very happy to learn that she is realy Shinobu he is horrifies to discover that she is also batshit insane. She loves ripping into things with her scissors and Kazuhito is very high on her list.

RANT: You might expect me to hate this anime for its stupidity but this is not the case here. This anime is designed to be a comedy so the stupidity is by design. Because of this I will let a lot of shit slide that would normally piss me off.

I was letting a lot of stuff slide and then it slide right into beastiality and I spend several minutes picking my jaw off from the floor. What is beastiality? Uhm.... You could do a Google search but before you do PUT ON THE ADULT FILTER!!!!! PLEASE!! I am NOT joking here!

The anime completely derails for me when Kirihime starts to fantasize dating and even marrying Kazuhito who is a dog at this point. I can not stress enough how disturbing it is to find this is an anime geared to young teens.

Looking past this point you get introduced to more weird and disturbing characters. Her editor is a huge masochist who will do literally do anything to be tortured and degraded. This is her entire character!

Then there is Kazuhito's sister who adds some incest to this steaming pile of shit. Yes, her defining character arc is that she wants her brother.

By this point your eyes may start to bleed a little but do not worry: You are through the worst of it.

The comedy was pretty weak overall for my taste but others may like it. With a few exceptions it was servicable. If they had left out the beastiality and incest plots it would have been better. Hell, I would given my approval if Kirihime accepted Kazuhito and started looking for a way to make him human so that she could marry him. Unfortunately all they have her do is wonder what the best position would be to have sex with him. I am so not joking here. She actually has a monologue in where she wonders about the best position to have sex with a dog.

I can't honestly recommed this to anyone under the legal drinking age. Play this with friends but get absolutely shitfaced before you start watching.

Very weird, but funny (depending on your sense of humor). If you are after any sense of normallcy, you aren't going to find it here. Each episode gets weirder than the last.  The last episode was, argh, different.
