Animation-wise DNA² and Video girl ai are very much the same (well, not to strange considering it's the same character designer). Although the stories differs very much they still give the same "feel" and they have somewhat the same sort of romance. Both are very much recommended.

Zadillo Zadillo says...

From the same creator, and same character designs...... this also deals with a sort of unusual romantic setup, and you should enjoy it.

VRDave VRDave says...

DNA is a great series with many similarities to Video Girl Ai. The art is very similar, and even though the stories aren't the same at all, If you liked one, you'd like the other. There are also a few semi-ecchi moments in DNA, just as there are in Video Girl Ai.

sonis sonis says...

DNA² and Video Girl AI are both opposites in situations, but the plots are synced. Both main characters, in DNA² and Video Girl AI, Have a problem; and it's attempted to be fixed by a girl.

In DNA², Junta Momonari is afraid of girls. A future girl makes him a Super-Playboy.

In Video Girl AI, Yota Moteuchi has his heart broken. A girl named AI needs to fix his heart.

Rfsancho Rfsancho says...

These two shows are definitely similar in a way that the male protagonists are thrown into really odd situations that involve a female or two in the mix. Primarily the whole oddball setting of the shows is whats similar. Pretty unique shows and are a great watch.

Both DNA² and Yumeria are drama/comedies, both also dealing with frendship and relations. Yumeria is a bit more childish than DNA² but then a bit more comic as well.

sonis sonis says...

Both series are about the main characters getting new abilities, and having to change a predicted event.

In Yumeria, Mikuri Tomokazu was given super powers. He needs to Change a predicted future event.

In DNA², Junta Momonari is predicted to become a super-playboy. A future girl changes his DNA to cause this. Time is spent trying to undo this.

Side thought: Both series are very Echi...

D.N.Angel

freakzilla freakzilla says...

D.N. Angel and DNA² have some similarities that put them in the same basket. Both have bishounen characters, which are what a lot of fans of these two anime are interested in. They also have a similar concept with personality changes. This makes the romance and comedy parts become very alike. DNA² goes a bit faster though and does have a somewhat different atmosphere, but they are still quite related to each other.

CuthienSilmeriel CuthienSilmeriel says...

Both centre around a male protagonist who is a bit of a loser when it comes to girls but happens to have a genetic alter-ego who is a real charmer. In their attempts to capture the girl of their dreams both Junta and Daisuke end up losing out to their alter-egos. A lot of the comedy and romance is similar but the stories are different enough to avoid deja vu. While D.N.Angel focuses on a fantastical aspect, DNA squared has a more futuristic approach.

Lothar Lothar says...

Love Hina and DNA² are in some aspects very much the same, but in others they differ very much. Both are romance comedies in wich the guy is a total loser who doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of getting a girl, but somethings happens and he is suddenly surronded by girls. DNA² is a bit more serious and contains action and a somewhat heavy story, while Love hina is a more easy-going anime. Still, If you're looking for some romance/harem/comedy, both series will probably satisfy you.

Nanashi Nanashi says...

Are you a fan of the one-boy-many-girls shows? If you liked DNA^2 then you might be. Tenchi Muyo is a more traditional one boy, many girls genre than DNA^2, but the comedic elements that define these generes remain. Where as Junta just wants to get with the ladies, Tenchi just wants to get *away* from the ladies.

DNA² and AMG both have a pretty nice romantic story. DNA²'s story might be more unique than usual, but AMG should even have more laughs than DNA². The way the characters struggle to make their love possible feels very similar though!

DNA² and Green Green OVA both have a bit of ecchi. They also have some fun moments, yet can't be called pure comedies. They also share some story elements, even though they handle them quite differently. I think it's mostly about the feeling you get from both anime, though.
