Actually, my expectations for this one were higher. I am kind of disappointed in this one. But what I really liked was the fact that we could learn about Yu Kanda's past and I also welcomed the rest of Noah's members. What I didn't like was the animation and art style, since I couldn't recognise many characters, but well some of them had a huge glow up (Jasdevi, Howard Link). Also, I was kinda shocked about Cross Marian's death...I mean...nobody cares about it? Seriously? Nobody cares that the strongest one of the Marshalls is dead? And there were also many other things that didn't make sense to me, for example Nea's awakening, and how the heck Mana is the Millennium Earl? Now I am reading manga and yeah, it's kinda shocking and also disappointing, since I really liked the show from 2006, it had potential and it was great. Somehow I am just curious about Allen's destiny...

I really liked the first series. But I couldn't get used to the art style so I stalled for a long time. It's kinda drawn better, but I don't really recognize the characters, and the animation seemed to lack fluidity.

But then we get to learn about Yu Kanda's past and I got drawn in.

Allen Walker isn't the only hybrid, they tried to create more half demons, and it turns to shit in a fascinating grotesque way. Kinda like parasyte the maxim (I liked that anime more).

I agree with the other reviews saying that the fights and plots aren't much... and main characters are barely seen... you really have to watch the first anime to understand who they are...

I hope that we'll have another season because it still didn't resolve anything... In the last series, the earl said something like "Allen doesn't know what it means when akuma evolves" we still don't know...

Inspired by stories from the bible:

God decided to destroy humanity for being sinful. He warned Noah and made him build a giant boat, an ark, to save his family and a pair of each animals. So in D.Gray-man, the Noa people are probably the good guys in the eyes of god... and humanity is fighting for survival.

The scars on a Noa's forehead is a stigma. Jesus claimed to be god's son and a king in heaven. The rulers didn't like that defiance and made him wear a crown made of thorns while crucifying him to death.

But before that, the Romans wanted to show mercy while saving face, so they gave the citizens the choice to free a prisoner: their healer Jesus or a serial killer. They thought that the choice was obvious, but the ungrateful people chose the murderer! Then they claimed that we don't need to make the efforts to be good, because god sent Jesus as a sacrifice for us, to wash our sins in his blood, and that killing his son would make god welcome us in heaven with open arms... (During communion, Christians eat bread and drink wine as a symbol of eating Jesus' flesh and drinking his blood... That's messed up.) But god only gave us 10 commandments and one of them is against killing... No wonder god wants to kill us all with demons, that's probably what's happening in D.Gray-man.

About dark skins:

We make vitamin D from sunlight, but fat soluble ones can accumulate in the body, so the skin tusn black to block it and avoid overdosing. That's why people closer to the equator have darker skins. So the Noa clan aren't demons in darkness, they bask into the light and even too much.

SPOILER

Allen is trying to save everybody in the middle of a fight to the death... Both sides are trying to force him to choose a side... he wants to choose both, but they both see that as a betrayal... the ending is sad...

I sure hope that we'll get another season, otherwise Allen gets a really bad ending...

I enjoyed watching it anyway, but the original was better.
