Detective Conan Movie 11: Jolly Roger in the Deep Azure - Reviews

Detective Conan Movie 11: Jolly Roger in the Deep Azure is the DC experience I didn't know I needed! This classic pirate movie setting with a Detective Conan spin was such a fun watch. What this movie did well was stick to a single plot for the entire film. A lot of DC movies fall into the trap of trying to do too much just because of how long a movie is. Because of the singular plot, I didn't have to work out why I was seeing certain scenes because I knew immediately how it all related to the investigation. There was a lot of tension in this movie that I really enjoyed, and the iconic moment at the end with the pirate's ship left me STUNNED with its beauty. All of the characters fell a little bit into their normal niches, but not to that big of an extent which I appreciated. Everyone got love and I was just overall a big fan. ALL people, DC fans or otherwise, would have a lot of fun with this movie!

This part is for Detective Conan fans: Ran really brought it with this movie. I loved seeing her powerful moves and the moment between her and Sonoko on the pirate ship really made me appreciate their friendship more than any other piece of the DC franchise. Haibara also had a really cute moment with Conan where he says that they're equals which I LOVED. Kogoro was a meme in this movie which I didn't LOVE, but I didn't see where else his character would fit into this movie. The minor characters exclusive to this movie were honestly great and I appreciated them more than the ones introduced into other movies. I HIGHLY recommend this movie to DC fans.
