Death Note

Storyline

10. Light Yagami, an ace student, finds a notebook dropped by the Shinigami(god of death) Ryuk and soon finds out that whenever he writes a name in this notebook while bearing that person’s face in mind, will die! He’ll use this notebook to purify the world of all evil, but soon faces resistance when the government starts investigating all these suddenly high criminal death numbers. The best detective in the world takes an interest in finding out who’s responsible for all these deaths. Whoever finds out the identity of the other first will win this battle of wits. Who will it be?

Plot and pace

9. The plot’s great and well thought of. There are a lot of twists and heart-stopping moments which will certainly keep you clustered to your chair.

Cliffhangers

10. You will certainly want to watch the next episode to find out what happens to the characters in this anime.

Satisfying ending

8. Some will find it satisfying, others won’t. It all depends on who you’re supporting, I guess.

Rewatchability

10. This anime never gets old. Because of all the excitement and suspense and certain parts that are pretty complicated to fully understand at first, you will certainly enjoy watching this again. You will notice things you didn’t see the first time you watched!

Characters

9. Certain Death Note characters have achieved a cult-status in the hearts of many people these days. There’s Light Yagami, the wicked yet fantastic and popular student, who always seems to stay one step ahead of his opponents. And there’s L, the best detective in the world, with his strange behavior and impressive deductive skills. Girls will most likely sympathize with Misa Amane, a girl who’s live was saved by a Shinigami and puts her life at stake to keep Light from getting caught.

Conversations

9. There are a lot of deep conversations in Death Note. Just like the story they are very well thought of.

Art Style

9. Very impressive. Light for example looks pretty badass when he’s on a killing spree!

Setting

8. Most of the time, the story will take place either inside Light’s room or at the headquarters of the organization that’s trying to track down the person that’s responsible for the deaths of the criminals.

Music and sounds

10. Great voice-acting and nice intro and background music. When things start heating up, the music’s one of the most impressive things I’ve ever heard.

Overall score

92/100

Personaly i didnt have very high expictaions for this but i shocked me. I have said before i am very picky with anime but this more always kept me hooked. From the moment it started to the bitter end it had me feel like i was there too tryn kept L off Lights tail and try to make sure Misa-misa didnt get hurt. If this is your 101th anime or your 1st you will regret not watching this. My fav anime of all time.

This wont be easy. Death note is one of my 3 favorites.

So everyone knows the base of the story: a God gets bored, dropped a notebook in which if you write someones name, that person will die. Simple enough. The interesting part is about the kid who finds the notebook. Yagami Light. Hes a genious, knows everything about law enforcement. He is the perfect candidate to liven things up int the boring realm of mortals.

I wont say anything more about the story. Its the best! The only minor flaw if the pretty flat, yet predictable and logical conclusion. 9.5/10

The characters: they are fantastic. Yagami and L of course steal the whole show, but I really liked Yagamis father too and of course our apple-fan God too. The characters are not perfect. I didnt really like the two kids in the second part of the series(you know who Im talking about). And Misa...Her existence is the biggest mistake of Death Note. 9/10 Its not perfect, but pretty damn close.

The visuals. Death Note is not about the visuals, still, they did a PERFECT job. The visuals help a lot in creating the atmosphere. Its realistic, pretty dark, simple. They didnt need to include any eye-candy, this series didnt need it!10/10

Music: same like the visuals. Perfect choices one after another.

Overall: if a want to be objective, Death Note is one of the best, with a few minor flaws. Sometimes the story is a bit slow, the ending is not the best, some characters are annoying, so the overall should be something like 9.3

But fuck that! Death Note is just awesome. Just start watching it and you will completely forget about all its flaws!

The beginning was interesting. But it wasn't till around episode 20, I had decided to drop it. It had just become too boring and I wasn't motivated to carry on watching it. However I do love the intro!!
