The concept of the two series. A rather chanceless guy manages to get a bishoujo character which doesn't have a human indentity. DearS and Chobits are both ecchi, though while Chobits has some sort of subtile ecchiness, DearS has the more radical ecchiness. No nips in either series though.

ralphp2 ralphp2 says...

In both, the leading lady starts off somewhat mentally not-there. And both have a lot to do with what is and is not a human. Both have VERY cute leading ladies. And both have lummoxes for the leading men. Both also are very well drawn overall, and both have beautiful musical scores.

kamirura kamirura says...

Cute non-human girls? The geek guy getting more love he ever needs? hehe sound familiar? Just like DearS chobits contains alot of ecchiness and cute girls. I liked chobits alot better than DearS so be sure to check it out. Chobits got a dark side to it too.

aries aries says...

Having watched DearS before Chobits, I didn't think of it as simply a Chobits ripoff, like some other people do. If you liked DearS though, Chobits is for you. It has a similar plot, Ren and Chii are nearly interchangeable, but Takeya is a little more apathetic than Hideki, I think. Chobits has a more solid progression of events, and its 26 episode format helps it contain more details. It's up to you who is cuter, though: Ren or Chii? I can't decide!

7thMethuselah 7thMethuselah says...

Both of these have the same basic storyline : a regular school kid one day gets himself involved with a beautiful girl, however one who's completely oblivuous of the world and its ways. In Chobits this girl is in fact a computer while dears' girl is an alien. DearS is alot more ecchi than Chobits, but Chobits' story is far better. Add some comedy and you're set! Due to the similarities it's impossible not to like one when you like the other.

remoneko remoneko says...

They have a very similar storyline; a regular student living an everyday life, but finds a beautiful girl on the streets. In both anime, these "beautiful girls" happen to be a robot (in Chobits) or an alien (in DearS). The two non-human girls sees the guy who found them basically as their master/owner, each causing different troubles for their "owner". The two anime are filled with lots of ecchi-type humor.

walsellers walsellers says...

Swap a girl alien for a girl android and a college-bound farm boy for a stubborn high school boy and you've got the same sort of formula in Chobits and DearS. Chobits' Hideki is probably more likeable than DearS' Takeya, though.

madcomic madcomic says...

"Chobits" revolves around the same kind of theme as "DearS": both have a girl who suddenly appears sleeping in the main character's room, and who is totally "alien" to the outside world. Besides that they both have similar problems concerning the question of "can you fall in love with someone who isn't human?"

HollowIchii HollowIchii says...

Both of these anime have a similar feel to them, and a similar plot: a boy finds a bewildered girl who can't even speak. DearS is a bit more ecchi than Chobits but Chobits has some as well. Similar character attitudes and an overall feel ensures that if you liked one you'd like the other.

tuff2baunicorn tuff2baunicorn says...

In both DearS and Chobits an average guy is lucky enough to stumble upon a hot non-human chick and wind up sharing his home with her! Although Chii is an android and Ren is an alien they still share the same charming and innocent disposition which may make both series appealing to fans of the respective anime. The series both share very similar main characters, but this doesn't feel like a rerun, it's more like a new twist on a favorite!

Svamp Svamp says...

The basis of the plots in both DearS and Chobits is the sudden appearance of an empty-headed girl in the life of our protagonist. She ends up staying at his apartment and he has to teach her how to lead a normal life. Cue the silly anime antics!

They are first and foremost comedy anime, and second, drama anime; both are ecchi, as well.

Ran Ran says...

Both anime have a similar plot, involving an average student getting his hands on a bishojo by accident and bringing it home. Just from the first episode, the resemblance is already astonishing: both have the exact same construction of the plot, similar comical situations, similar personalities of the main characters, and the same graphical style and quality. DearS's ecchi scenes are less subtle than the ones in Chobits, but both series give off the same feeling.

narutoxhinata1 narutoxhinata1 says...

Chobits and DearS are really very alike. In Chobits there are persocoms, which are almost the same as the aliens in DearS. Though personally, I think DearS is sort of copied from Chobits. I think they feel the same, so you should like one if you liked the other. ;)

KThxBye KThxBye says...

Enter social outcast guy who just sucks with the ladies and add a brainless robot/alien chick that doesn't quite understand the real world. What do you get? Why, both Chobits and Dears, of course! Both series focus on a rather unpopular guy who stumbles upon a needy/broken girl. The girl imprints on the guy and from then on devotes herself to him. Much comedy, embarrassment, and romance ensue in each of them, along with a similar plot line in which the girl is more than she appears. If you liked one it's almost guaranteed you'll like the other.

Zesty Zesty says...

Both of these animes are almost the exact same thing. The only difference is that DearS cuts out some extra stuff that Chobits has. The anime starts off the same way for both animes, except that in DearS the main character doesn't want a Dears, while in Chobits he does. Other than that, the main character finds the DearS/Chobit takes it to his home and starts teaching it the life and culture. If you liked one, than you will defiently like the other one.

Jaxtreme Jaxtreme says...

The story is almost similiar but when you watch chobits it give you an other feeling and it have a lots of fun stuff in all of the episodes. Sorry for the bad english

These two shows feature the same basic plot. Guy meets girl who isnt exactly human and tries to teach her how to be normal while developing feelings for her. Both are very funny and should be watched.

Anzelya Anzelya says...

Both of those animes include beautiful girls, that are not really human. Of course they try their best to fit in. At the beginning in both of those animes, those girls can not speak or do anything normal humans could. Classically those girls mysteriously hook up with a poor guy, who now has the duty to teach the girls speak and do other logical stuff, which of course means lots of funny scenes in the progress. If you liked one of them, you would absolutely like the other one, as they are very much alike.

YannickR YannickR says...

They are both about the same thing, a male with a robot girl in their house.

The series both revolve around the adventures of the girl and the male character with ecchiness all over the place, especially in Dears.

jurexplay jurexplay says...

Well, this one is extremely easy. Both series start with finding robot/alen girl in whom the main character falls in love with. Both girls the tittled Dear and the tittled Chobit do not know much about living in society and everyday problems. Both series are very humorous but they can be very serious at times. Definitelly better than usual harem shows. Worth a watch.

Spectrum Spectrum says...

Chobits is just plain cute. It has a good story, characters, seiyuus, and animation. If you are looking for a romantic comedy along the lines of Dears and Happy Lesson, then definately check this one out.

Licious Licious says...

Both series focus on a relation ship between a somewhat clueless male and a simple-minded non-human girl. Although Chobits' story prevails over DearS'. DearS steps on Chobits face when it comes to ‘stupid' funny and ecchi moments. It depends on what kind of anime you are looking for.

Kirowyn Kirowyn says...

Both of these animes are about boys who find themselves getting into prediciments over robotic women. The romantic aspects of both series is very similar.

Both series utilize the magic girl type of theme. That being said, Chobits are androids instead of aliens. If you enjoyed DearS then Chobits will be recommended for your pleasures...

The story in DearS is almost the same as Chobits, although chobits has a bit darker en dramatic side of the story. Both anime are about a girl that's not human. That will take you into hilarious moments with in both anime some ecchi humor. Aslo the romantic aspects are very similiar. I think if you liked one, you'd surely like the other ^^

Pumar Pumar says...

Both of these series are about for most part a guy meeting a girl with no memory, He takes her in teaches her, through out this they go on adventures and learn new thing together, if you enjoy one of these series you'll enjoy the other just as much.

Arielle Arielle says...

These two are totally alike. Both about a guy who lives on his own and find a woman on the street. In dears it is an Alien and with chobits more like an android. But with both they are like slaves and totally need to be re-educated in every way.

The animation and humor are also very much alike and also there is some nudity and sexual discussion in both. I am sure that if you like one you will have to like the other too.

TheOmnipotentLemur TheOmnipotentLemur says...

DearS and Chobits are often said to be twins. While I personally found Chobits much more palitable, both are quality series that follow much the same plot.

Tyrannical Tyrannical says...

DearS and Chobits are fundamentally the same. They both deal with a student finding an alien, or persocom, with little knowledge of human ways who they gradually gain feelings for. They are both ecchi, DearS more blatantly so. In each, Chi and Ren will do anything for their masters and love them.

GrantZ90 GrantZ90 says...

DearS=An ecchi version of Chobits

So in other words they're almost the same show, but DearS being a bit more superficial.

I'm sure almost anyone who has seen the two could agree with me on this.

lisalover1 lisalover1 says...

Just mentally switch the words "robot" and "alien" in these shows, and I dare you to find the difference. Both series follow the same character and story framework, but that doesn't mean they're not good. They're both very fun series to watch, and I recommend them both.

megab megab says...

Both of these shows are very much the same. main charater girls are both oblivuous whats going on around them in the world and the guy helps her teach her little by little  while they both slowly fall in love with each other. Both  DearS (Ren) and Chobits (Chii) are cute girls they are different Ren is an alien while Chii is a coumputer that looks like real human girl. Between the 2 shows Chobits has a stronger more emotional story but DearS is more like a nice romantic comendy. Both of are great so  give it try u might like them

invisibledeath invisibledeath says...

This shows are very similar. They both about humans falling for aliens/robots. If you liked one you should like another. However "Chobits" are a bit sadder at places.

NoCheerios NoCheerios says...

Both DearS and Chobits involve a girl who stumbles into the life of an ignorant adolescent(although Chobit's protagonist is slightly older than the protagonist of DearS). In DearS it's and alien with no idea how to behave human, and in Chobits it's an android " " " " " " ".

Although I personally enjoyed DearS more because it was just the right length, I watched it with a friend, and the protagonist was a bit more logical, some people say it's crap and that Chobits stomps it with steel cleats.

Either way, they're similar, so if you liked one you'll like the other.

Devvnn Devvnn says...

I thoroughly enjoyed watching DearS, the statements about it being more Ecchi-filled are most definately true, if you want a story that is more serious, very highly recommend Chobits. I've watched the whole series multiple times. =)

KinGs KinGs says...

Both have moe girls that do anything for your 'owner', chobits has more romance and a awesome story that makes one of the best animes ever. DearS has more ecchi/fan-service, but is really good too. If you liked one, watch the other!.

Deer50 Deer50 says...

Both main characters live on their own one day accidentally find cute girls which aren't human. They start living with them. The non-human girl doesn't know about the language or world around them the the main guy has to teach them. Other people are looking for them because they're different than others of their kind.

sakara sakara says...

both of these animes both have the same basic storyline, they are both found and unintentionaly(pardon my spelling) make it into the main characters life (hideki for chobits and takeya for DearS.)

Doomoo Doomoo says...

Both of these anime are basically a reflection of each other. However they are different enough to avoid boring you and giving you a feeling of "been there done that".  I feel like Chobits has a bit more touching story while DearS is more comedic.

pacord1 pacord1 says...

They both basically have the same story, but DearS is just a little more funny. I recommend both because of the slave-like nature of both girls

Madoka Madoka says...

Both Chobits and DearS are based around a chanceless guy with goals in mind who happens to cross paths and end up caring for either a humanless emotionless thoughtless android (Chobits) or a imcomplete minded alien (DearS). The series both develop as the characters learn to live with one another, regrardless if your just a country boy in the city or you just want a normal school life. The series both use the same concept around both the android and alien are somewhat... out of the loop if you will, they have no real sense for common sense creating all sort of trouble for our leads. Both create several fun situations from this, If it's a laugh from a ecchi scene or maybe just how our male leads are terrible people matched with thoughtless androids/aliens.

Bestanimeserie Bestanimeserie says...

Both shows have almost the exact same storylines, a boy finds a girl (android in chobits and alien in dears) and takes her home, and teaches her about this world. Both have quite a lot of ecchi and chobits has a better story but if you liked one you'll probably like the other one as well.

ch0p5tixmast3r ch0p5tixmast3r says...

Dears and Chobits are both romantic comedies with a average male and a cute, but clueless heroine. The demeanor of the show is very similar to one another.

Grach Grach says...

Both Chobits and DearS have a male lead who inadvertantly discovers (and comes to live with) a non-human female. That is not all that the have in common, though. Both also have a lot of ecchi, comedy, sci-fi elements (Chobits pulls this off better, though), and even some romance.

If you liked one, you'll see the similarities in the other!

arhamathar arhamathar says...

chobits is the anime that i would recomend for those who really want to watch something like dears

A young man that lives alone is walking home when he comes across a rather strange nonhuman girl. Both Chii and Ren aren't the brightest, but they make up for it by being wide-eyed cuties. KarmaKhameleon KarmaKhameleon says...

Both anime involve a student who is your regular guy next door type. He discovers a beautiful girl. In Chobits she is a robot and in dearS she is an alien. The girl is a bit odd because she is not used to societal norms of human beings. The guy takes her in and is like a caretaker to her and she dotes on him and treats him as if he is her master. Both have some ecchiness, but DearS is more ecchi than Chobits.

I had similar emotions when watching DearS and Girls Bravo, though in general DearS is the best ecchi anime I've seen. =)

Cornebus Cornebus says...

There is a similar situation between these two anime. The main character finds himself surrounded by girls (less in DearS but you get the point) and the "feeling" of the anime is really similar. If you like comedy/romance/ecchi and a bit of magic/mystery, these are the two best anime to fit those categories.

And when I say ecchi....

kamkaw kamkaw says...

Both series are about sudden girlfriend appearance but there is more... In DearS boy hate aliens and in GB main male have even an allergic reaction on girls but in both cases main plot lead us in happines... or not... And both are ecchi in the same way...

EricCarson EricCarson says...

If you found you liked the comic hilarity in DEARS provoked by strange social cimstances, you would like Girls Bravo without a doubt. Over-the-top reactions, and women with warped personalities are all a part of the bundle!

Ran Ran says...

In Girls Bravo and Dears, a fair share of situations are alike, mainly because in both series, the main character is a boy that is blessed with a girl that everyone would want but him. One being allergic to them, the other hating aliens. Either way, this is an excuse for more comical situations and ecchi scenes. Both Dears and Girls Bravo, though they are part of the "harem anime" bunch, still differ from them by providing some extra mysterious aspects that make them just diferent enough to stick out.

Worosei Worosei says...

Boy meets magical girlfriend from random event. Magical girlfriend contains some power that is unknown, but an evil organisation wants to get rid of them.

Both girlfriends like melon bread and eating in general, and are mostly clueless.

The boy is also mostly useless, yet somehow attracts a bunch of girls to live at his place. All the girls secretly like him (much more in Girls Bravo), but the original magical girlfriend and him stick it out and declare their love for each other by the end of the series semi-defeating the evil organisation through a deus-ex machina.

Generic plotlines, but enjoyable to watch and the characters are mostly endearing and there will be one or two who you will like and route for. Just note that Girls Bravo is very ecchi, and has a larger emphasis on action and is much more 'harem'.

lainkitty lainkitty says...

I watched both of these anime within the same week and still sometimes get them confused with each other. There is a guy that is the hero and lots of girls that are interested in them. The main girls are "aliens" and they fall for the guy. The comedy in each is very similar as well as the art.

mlow44 mlow44 says...

Girls Bravo is another harem/ecchi like DearS. Both are very funny series and will give you a lot to laugh about. Also, if you're like me and prefer this animation style, both have similar animation style.

Damaged Damaged says...

When I watch either one of these anime I can't help but think a lot of the other series. Both of these anime have beautiful girl characters from another planet that are in love with the first male that they see. Ren (DearS) and Miharu (Girls Bravo) are also very similar in just about every way. They both love food and they both have worn an apron with out anything else (hahaha). Though Miharu didn't wear a pot on her head (lol). Of course, both these anime have the typical harem themes to theme so if you like that genre you are bound to like these

TheOmnipotentLemur TheOmnipotentLemur says...

The series are alike in too many ways to count. Both are heavily ecchi, both are filled with cute girls, and both have aliens. If you like one its likely you will like the other.

KiraRin KiraRin says...

Although DearS tries so hard to be a comedy harem, Girls Bravo produces results much more successfully. This said, both shows will definitely appeal to the same (mildly perverted) audience. If you dream of being surrounded by your own bevvy of beauties, then I highly recommend giving both a whirl.

KittyEmperor KittyEmperor says...

Both series resolve around cute girls from other worlds who come to be in the human world and grow rather attached to the male lead.  Add in a lot of ecchi and comedy and both series are very similar to each other.   Though in my opinion Girls Bravo does it slightly better both series are similar enough that if you liked one then you'll probably like the other.

Magemat Magemat says...

Both of these anime have a similar drawing style, a pretty much identical female character design as well as a similar storyline. (Which is most likely, in both cases some alien girls who come disturb the normal school life of a young boy by slowly "taking control" over his world.) Both shows are also about the same length so if you liked one you should definitely give the other title a shot.

both DearS and Sora no Otoshimono revolve around non-human beings becoming the slaves of perverted boys. Also both shows are hardcore in terms of ecchi so if you like one of this two shows then you will enjoy the other one as well.

KiraRin KiraRin says...

Not only do both shows feature alien girls wearing collars and looking for a "master" to obey, but they both feature some absolutely hilarious moments in anime! Both are utterly perverted, unrealistic and far from being the best ecchi out there, but I think fans of one will appreciate the other.

nosaint317 nosaint317 says...

A great choice for either by comparison. Both have extremely hot and sexy extraordinary being ready to please and serve their master however necessary while being a bit on the clueless side of certain aspects. Both are hilarious animes with tons of fan service and good stories(especially the mangas). The only big difference in these 2 is, whatever happens in Sora, tends to be EPIC! Whether its fighting or panty raids.

Zaig Zaig says...

Both of these extremely ecchi anime are about “hawt” aliens who become slaves to some guy. True love isn‘t really the main thing focused on here, comedy is perverted, etc, etc--the real connection is that the female aliens are in slavery (we‘re also not really sure how or why, they just are XD). I’m relatively sure this in itself will work for you, since we watched one of them first.

KittyEmperor KittyEmperor says...

Alien girls who wear collars and who find a master who just happens to be humans in both cases.  In both cases the alien girl acts something like a maid to their master doing whatever he says and in both cases the aliens have a variety of powers to help them serve.  Both series feature similar styles of comedy and ecchi though in my opinion it's much better in Sora no Otoshimono.  If you liked one then you'll probably like the other as well.

There are some large similarities in both series, non-human, seemingly emotionless girl suddenly appears, becomes the protagonist's slave and gradually develops feelings for him.

Love Hina contains the same ecchi-like humor that DearS had, only with the harem element. Just like the main character of DearS you will feel sorry for the main characters in this romance as well as they strive to simply live together.

Both are two of my favorite anime series of all time, and both are of comedy/romance/harem genre. They're both good bets if you're looking for something to laugh at.

Thes two series have a similar feel and sense of humour, focusing mainly on the eechi/majiboke style. Comedy and misunderstandings form the basis of storylines in both these romantic comdedies.

I agree, both Love Hina and DearS and are fun to follow light hearted romance comedy herems. In my opinion Love Hina is the king of herems and if both anime are being compared then you know you're being stirred in the right direction. If you liked one I'm sure you'll love the other.

Good Luck! Ninomiya-kun

Good Luck! Ninomiya-kun

Shungo is an extraordinary high school student; in addition to his studies, he’s been trained by his mercenary sister to be a top mercenary. Their newest task involves the Tsukimura siblings; both of them have the powers of a succubus, but Mayu has a slight problem: she suffers from androphobia – a fear of men! Shungo’s new objective is to help Mayu overcome this phobia and protect her from the men her succubus powers naturally draw to her; but this becomes more difficult once he becomes the guinea pig for social experiments involving Mayu, such as sharing the same bed and even bathing together! To make matters worse, the ever-growing popularity of Mayu at school and the student council president’s infatuation with Shungo only add to his workload!

DearS and ninomiya are both harem shows in which the main female is some sort of supernatural being that comes to live with the main character. Both series are silly and lighthearted, not being particularly unique, but fun enough to keep the viewer entertained.

Another great anime with a really hot girl and a lot of nice fan service scenes. Of course, like DearS, it has a good comedy/romance story line as well.

DearS and Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun couldn't be more similar. Both have a pure ecchi plot, both are non specific romances, and both have nearly identical art styles.

KittyEmperor KittyEmperor says...

The main focus of either series being the whole harem thing with with a lot of ecchi mixed into it.  While I would say that the biggest difference betwee either series is the male lead where in Goshuushou Shungo is a bit more manly than Takeya but both have similar mindsets when it comes to girls.  Sharing similar styles of art both series are good mirrors of each other.

Heaven's Lost Property Forte

Heaven's Lost Property Forte

Tomoki's life was normal until a wish-granting angelic android named Ikaros fell from the sky and started calling him master. Things got even crazier when Ikaros's fellow android, Nymph, came fluttering down to join the fun. With the winged vixens adjusting to life on Earth, you'd think Tomoki's dream of a peaceful existence might finally be coming true – but you'd be wrong! With his teenage impulses and dirty mind, Tomoki's wishes are causing more chaos than ever before. Plus, there's a curvy new android on the scene – Astraea. She definitely looks as angelic as Ikaros and Nymph, but there's a chance the beautiful blonde newcomer is up to no good!

Even though it is differant in plot, Characters are VERY similar. Ikaros and Ren both love the main character and also seem to have a problem using their face for expressions. They also have to be taught the ediquit(Spell fail) and rules of the society. If you love the relationships in one, the other IS THE WAY TO GO!

Dears was last years Sora no Otoshimono Forte. The basic outline of each show is exactly the same; strange super powered girl from the sky comes to live with some hapless dude and hilarity ensues. It should be noted the Forte is the second season of the franchise so be sure and check out the first series if you have not already. Basically light on character development, what little there is in each title focuses on the idea of what it is to love and be human. Both Ren (DearS) and Ikaros (SNOF) act like stoned children who must learn the customs of the human world and their respective place in said world. If you liked one of these, try the other as they are very similar

Same here. I also think that most of the charakters are similar. Especially the main female charakters Ren/Icaros. They both have to struggle to show their true feelings. Although Ren at least is able to show a bit more of emotions during the series.

The only main difference is the humor. Sora no otoshimono focuses on the more perverted humor, which is very well made in this series.

not all, however, like that. so you can decide on which humor you like the more and if you don't care about that then watch both. I can only highly recommend both

VongolaX VongolaX says...

I love both series but just comes down to what type of humour you enjoy. If you like the ecchi, peverted type (Which I think is hilarious) or the baseline humour that runs through anime.

Rizelmine

Rizelmine

In the present, the Japanese government has been conducting experiments to genetically engineer a human: a girl named Rizel. The experiment was a success -- sort of. While healthy and cheerful, 12-year-old Rizel also ended up possessing the uncanny need for “love” to further her development, as well as tears which were in fact volitile explosives! When sadness can end up destroying a city block, what's a girl to do except... get married?! For Iwari Tomori, the young man chosen as the most appropriate partner for Rizel, life is about to change, for better or for worse!

Both series are boy-meets-girl anime series, though with as main theme the rejection from the boy side. (Ie: Girl wants to get closer, boy wants to get rid of her). Besides the somewhat more loose humor in Rizelmine and the somewhat less ecchiness in Rizelmine, these series are quite similar.

madcomic madcomic says...

Both "Rizelmine" and "DearS" are about a guy who gets a single girl in one way or another pushed upon him. Both main characters are slowly growing attached to the girl's presence.

I had similar emotions when watching DearS and Please Teacher, though in general DearS is the best ecchi anime I've seen. =)

Jdogtoocool Jdogtoocool says...

I agree, both DearS and Please Teacher have a lot of similarities. They're both very fun romance comedies. They both share that secrecy element at first and there's the whole sexy/mysterious alien theme. Please Teacher is the more mature anime but if you're looking for that ecchi layout and one that actually makes sense in the anime then look no further. If you liked one I'm sure you'll love the other.

Alien girls? yes. Alien girls that suddenly end up living with the protagonist? Also yes. Both of these ecchi-comedies has some drama, some romance, and two guys that are in for the ride of their life with busty aliens. If you liked one, check the other.
