overhyped for zero two. i feel like trigger could've done better adding their signature charm, but i dont think they had a massive part in it. the whole story orbits around "oh boy! sexy woman!" and is honestly pretty obnoxious in certain aspects while overwhelmingly boring in others. no balance. at all. one of my least favourite animes.

So Darling in the Franxx is the 5th anime i ever watched and god damn it let me sad and out of this world for a moment. Watching the whole 24 episodes in 3 days was amazing ride with lots of funny but also sad moments. After 7 episodes i fell in love with most of the characters i guess i fell in love with everyone except Ichigo. God damn she was one hell of a bitch. But that aside this anime has everything a decent storyline, animation looks great but the thing that drives this anime are the characters. They are done really well and you find yourself caring about them in a well different way. Also Darling in the Franxx was the first anime ever that made me cry. From 21 to 24 episode i cried even if a happy scene was there. Even now when i think about it a want to cry. But to wrap it up Darling in the Franxx is an anime that maybe not many people will like because of the mechs and stuff but it is worth a try if you like relationships and good written characters.

DARLING in the FRANXX - A Rollercoaster of Expectations

Story (5/10): DARLING in the FRANXX plunges us into a post-apocalyptic world where humanity's survival depends on enigmatic children piloting giant robots. The story starts with promise, crafting a captivating mystery with a dash of romance. Unfortunately, as it progresses, the narrative takes an abrupt nosedive, with a confusing blend of metaphysical concepts and convoluted plot twists. The series struggles to maintain its initial intrigue, leaving viewers with more questions than answers. While the show's mech piloting positions were clearly meant to be symbolic, they often felt gratuitous and uncomfortable.

Animation (7/10): From a visual standpoint, DARLING in the FRANXX shines. The mech battles are a breathtaking spectacle of fluidity and precision. The character designs are distinctive, and the FRANXX themselves are creatively crafted.

Sound (6/10): The anime's soundtrack is a mixed bag. While it enhances some emotional moments, it occasionally feels out of place. The opening and ending themes are catchy but don't quite match the thematic depth the series attempts to explore. Voice acting performances are generally decent but not outstanding.

Characters (5/10): DARLING in the FRANXX boasts a diverse cast, each with their quirks and backstories. Hiro and Zero Two's relationship takes center stage, undergoing substantial development. However, character motivations and backgrounds often feel underexplored, leading to underdeveloped personalities. Several supporting characters also fall victim to limited screen time, making it challenging to invest in their stories.

Overall (5/10): DARLING in the FRANXX is a polarizing anime with moments of brilliance but is ultimately a rollercoaster of expectations. While it begins as a promising dystopian tale with intriguing characters, it stumbles as it delves into metaphysical complexities, leaving many viewers bewildered. The inclusion of provocative mech piloting positions may deter some viewers further. As for the manga adaptation, it primarily serves as a companion to the anime, and the anime is the more prominent and recognized version of the story. If you can look past its shortcomings, DARLING in the FRANXX might still offer an enjoyable experience, but it falls short of its full potential.
