It's a cultivation story. One with immortal gods and cultivation arts. But more importantly, it's the story of a boy named An Lin, a mortal who was heavily in debt and was pursued by loan sharks before meeting his savior, a True God. Saved from the loan sharks, An Lin was sent to cultivate at the Immortal Cultivation United University, but it seems like he was trolled by the True God...? Is this really the life he was expecting? Wasn't this just a regular cultivation story? What's that? I might be a fake cultivator?

Both anime surround a MC who has essentially a 'cheat' way to cultivate very quickly. Lu Shu utilizes an unorthodox cultivation method through negative emotions from other people, thus he has to disappoint, aggravate, or annoy them to get stronger. Whereas An Lin cultivates by completing random 'quests' such as completing '10x10 pushups'. Both MC's are extremely disliked by their peers.
Huangli Shi, according to legends, refers to a Fangshi who can alter the effects of seasonal solstices, solar terms, and festivals, and is able to predict each day’s fortune. Chuxi: What are you looking at? You don’t want to live past new year’s eve? Chuba: Today’s fortune is terrible, nothing’s going to turn out right. I’m afraid there might be a… bloody disaster.
