Brad Brad says...

Both are boke and tsukkomi comedies set in a high school, and feature a cast of pretty crazy girls with varying personalities as they barge their way into a guys life, and cause all sorts of mayhem in the process.

Seitokai Yakuindomo is considerably more perverted than D-Frag, which is more of a straight up comedy series, but i feel fans of one will find the other interesting.

ZetsubouKaiji ZetsubouKaiji says...

These are both comedies that feature a cast of zany female characters that inflict themselves onto the male straightman. Both these shows are comedies first and the what plot there is comes second. Both shows feature tons of random humor that leaves the straightman as an island of sanity in an otherwise insane world.

Seitokai is much more focused on the perverted humor and a lot of the comedy is found in the fast paced dialogue. The humor in D-Frag is more varried with a lot of sight gags and physical humor to go alone with the verbal jokes.

If you're in the mood for some crazy humor then these are both good series to pick up.

Thrawn Thrawn says...

School comedies with a crazy cast and loads of humor based off the straight man, crazy man comedy routine to great effect. Lampshades are hung, walls are broken and in Seitokai Yakuindomo's case, there's a perverted joke every minute. If there isn't one by the time the scene is over, someone will mention it. Pretty entertaining comedies and they don't often delve into drama and really heavy stuff so they're light on the brain.

Fishy116 Fishy116 says...

In both of these awesome anime, the whole point is to have a good time. If you love laughing, you will love both of these. There are tons of jokes, and every episode of both anime made me laugh so many times. If you liked one, you will definitely like the other.

Melicans Melicans says...

Both series involve groups of students and their irreverant comedic ways; both series are built on gags, with the main male character playing the role of the comedic straight man against the pure nuttiness of his fellow club members. SYD's comedy comes from sexual humour while D-Frag's gags are mainly around gaming activities, but otherwise the setup is similar.

HenkDeV HenkDeV says...

Both great series with lots of crazy humour! Definitely recommended if you're looking for a laugh!

Gamers!

Gamers!

"Would you like to be with me... in the Gamers Club?" Amano Keita is a perfectly mediocre loner with no particular distinguishing features other than his love for games. One day, his school's prettiest girl and Gamer Club President Tendo Karen suddenly calls out to him. That moment changes Keita's life forever, as he now finds himself in the midst of a romcom with beautiful girl gamers... or, well, that's how it usually goes. Not with him, however.

These two shows use comedy as their strength to progress whatever story they are going for, alongside the quirky characters and vibrant colour schemes. However, D-Frag has used other comedic methods that stray away from the video game spectrum to focus on other game styles whereas Gamers! does stick with the video gaming theme. Even so, these two anime have similar styles of story telling and characters, I think if you enjoyed one you might enjoy the other.

Oblithian Oblithian says...

Both are about gaming clubs at school and focus more on the character interactions than games themselves (opposite to shows like No Game No Life). In particular, Gamers! is a little more about relationship hijinks (i.e. high school dating "drama"), While D-Frag fits some of the more typical 'High school anime' stereotypes, and character personalities.

Fallen4Ya Fallen4Ya says...

Both are about video games and are good. They are similar. This last sentence is filling out the minimum characters.

HKBattosai HKBattosai says...

If you liked Gamers! or D-Frag!, then you'll probably like the other one because both anime center around gaming and completely crazy antics that ensue becasue of it. D-Frag! is general gaming, where as Gamers! is all about video gaming. However, the slapstick gag-style comedy is equally befitting of both. Plus, most of the characters from both are weird, quirky, or just plain crazy at times.

Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends

Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends

Kodaka is a delinquent. At least, that’s what his fellow classmates seem to think. Thanks to his naturally-blonde hair and an unfortunate series of misunderstandings, the boy can’t seem to shake his false reputation and hasn’t made a single friend. That is, until one day he overhears the normally-aloof Yozora enthusiastically chatting with an imaginary friend, and discovers that she’s just as lonely as he is! In an attempt to finally meet people the duo decides to form the “Neighbors Club”, and are soon joined by a number of other fellow misfits such as Sena, the busty, popular daughter of the school president who can’t seem to connect with others. Together, the gang learns about the joys of friendship through many misadventures such as playing RPGs, visiting the swimming pool or even hunting down delicious takoyaki!

Lwmons Lwmons says...

D-Frag follows the similar theme of a club, a protagonist who is percieved as a delinquent but isn't, and the bully-ish female club member seen in Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukanai. Also, it is obviously heading in a harem direction.

SeiyaManG SeiyaManG says...

These shows have almost identical starting points. Both are about (not-really) deliquents who are forced to join a club and accidentally end up in various hilarious and romantic situations.

Haganai strikes the more serious notes, focusing more on the relationship dynamics, while D-Fragments takes a lighter tone and focuses more on the humor.

chibiuwuu chibiuwuu says...

Both series have 'delinquent' male lead surrounded by a bunch of girls who make a club together and play video games. Both anime are hilarious.

Gintama

Gintama

In Gintoki's Japan, the arrival of the various space races known collectively as the Amanto ended the era of the samurai. The Amanto's highly advanced technology resulted in total conquest and a severe economic shift. Now, former samurai such as Gintoki scrape together whatever livelihood they can. Gintoki's profession of choice is that of a yorozuya: he'll complete any job for money. However, he’s unmotivated; and spending most of the day on the couch with the latest issue of Jump and a carton of Strawberry Milk is his preferred pastime. It turns out that his new unpaid employees, Shinpachi and Kagura, are going to interfere with his pastime even more than with his "work"! Of course, none of this means he has really given up on his samurai ideologies!

If you enjoy this show for being dialogue, character and comedy driven, you'll definitely enjoy the other. The biggest similarity comes in the type of humor they choose to employ, both relying heavily on the classic "straight-man" and "funny-man" tropes.

If you loved the humor in one, do yourself a favor and check out the other.

Tmoh Tmoh says...

Although Gintama takes their humor a bit further, it's basically the same kind of humor. So if you liked one of these you'll definetly like the other.

Oblithian Oblithian says...

Because Gintama is for everyone. And if you haven't started yet you should really get watching. I don't see too many actual similarities though... both protagonists have messy hair?

Sabagebu! Survival Game Club

Sabagebu! Survival Game Club

Momoko's family moves a lot, so she's always "that new girl" and the schools she's attended have all blurred together. Until her first day at Aogiri High, that is, where she's rescued by an armed vigilante, assaulted by a platypus and coerced into joining a secret organization of gun-toting female commandos. Okay, maybe that last one is really just the school's survival club, but the platypus is real and so are the extremes that club president Miou is willing to execute to recruit Momoko. Can uber-jaded Momoko's body armor-clad heart resist the charms of a girl who's all too ready to whip out her twin Desert Eagles in defense of another girl's virtue? Especially when it turns out that Momoko has her own talent for air pistols and senseless violence?

D-Frag! and Sabagebu! feature an unwilling student who is forced into joining a crazy club. They have the same kind of slapstick humor with a whacky cast, silly yet epic fights over the most trivial of matters. They are so alike that are bound to appeal to the same audience.

ZetsubouKaiji ZetsubouKaiji says...

D-Frag and Sabagebu are both shows about zany school clubs that end up causing all sorts of trouble for those around them. Both shows feature a lead character that was forced to join the club, but finds themselves enjoying it more than they would admit.

Beyond having similiar setups these are both gag comedies with a ton of references and parodies. Neither show takes itself seriously, but instead mocks all the common cliches they can find.

If you're looking to laugh and don't need a plot to enjoy your anime then D-Frag and Sabagebu are the anime for you.

AardvarkRex AardvarkRex says...

Both series follow members of a school club partaking in some crazy games as part of their activities. Similar zany comedy and ridiculous/absurd situations that the chars get constantly embroiled in.

Both series are school comedies that center around a school club of one boy and several girls. Each episode follows the characters as the get into bizzare situations and deal with the often outrageuous consequences. They are both very funny, not reccommended if you are trying to be quiet.

HKBattosai HKBattosai says...

If you liked either D-Frag! or When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace, you'd like the other one because both are School Club comedies that center the most on the one main male and what happens to him through his daily interactions with all the other club members. Of course, buy coincidence they are all female members.

I think anime is great right now, I’m on episode 9. The anime has the comedy in it but a slight touch of romance that I like. Also, I think the harem part of it ties everything together because I’ve always enjoyed anime’s where there are girls surrounding one boy. I don’t know why though. I think if you like this anime, d frag could be another comedy anime for you to watch because they both are mostly in a club, and I just like slice of life animes.

Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts

Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts

Fumizuki Academy is divided into classes ranked based purely on ability; Class A has laptops, reclining seats and ultimate comfort whereas Class F has to settle for a rundown classroom with rotten cushions and rickety coffee tables. Akihisa Yoshii has recently taken the placement exam and finds himself relegated to the lowly Class F along with many of his friends, and they’re far from impressed with their draughty facilities. Luckily, not all is lost as at Fumizuki, classes can declare war on each other to swap rooms by fighting with summoned characters whose strength is based on the users' test scores. As they dream of escaping their decrepit circumstances, the ‘idiotic’ students of Class F will try whatever they can to reach the dizzy heights of Class A’s luxury, even if it means taking on the entire school in an all-out summoning war!

Both are extremely similar, and if you enjoy the type of comedy one offers, I can recommend the other without any hesitation.

They both showcase characters who are dragged into impossibly stupid situations by their friends and companions, leading to hilarity.

Others I would recommend similar to these are Kore wa Zombie and No-Rin.

Swampertzone Swampertzone says...

D-Frag is set in a school, it's down right hilarious, and it's a lot of fun to watch. D-Frag is pretty similar to Baka and Test with the crazy characters and good openings. I recommend this if you saw D-Frag and vice versa

Both shows feature strong, and funny, female characters and a very angry and yelly protagonist who likes to throw out hilarious punchlines. But most of all, both shows have tons of zany humor and randomness.

Rick18 Rick18 says...

Yes both have off the wall comedy and are both hilarious, however D-frag is more toned down. Even though D-frag is toned down it is still just as funny as Binbougami. Binbougami just has a little more ecchiness in it but not to much, its actually got good humor in it.

MM!

MM!

Seeking a cure for his depraved masochism, Taro Sado approaches the Second Volunteer Club on the recommendation of his best friend, Tatsukichi. There he finds the help of the violent but kind Mio Isurugi who promises to beat the masochism out of him by any means necessary. Will Taro be able to survive the assaults of this upperclassman, the overly-affectionate attentions of his mother and sister, and still lead a normal school life? Unlikely. But will he get over his perverse fetish? He sure hopes so.

These are both wacky school comedies about a group of misfits in an after school club. They both start when an outsider enters the club and stirs things up with their presence. Both shows feature a lot of parodies both of other anime as well as pop culture in general. Both anime have a cast of eccentric characters with funny quirks and a lone straight man that seems like an island of sanity in a crazy world.

MM! is primarily an ecchi comedy so most of the humor tends to be rather perverse. D-Frags comedy is more broad, but it has its fair share of perverted jokes as well.

MM! has much better comedic timing and the editing is much tighter while makes it a much better comedy. D-Frag does have a lot of funny moments, but the editing leaves them feeling a bit lacking. However, if you enjoy school life comedies with a heavy parody aspect then try both of these shows.

These are both school life comedies about after school clubs and the relatively normal new guy that joins a club full of weirdos. Both of these shows have a lot of energy and cast of interesting, quirky but likable characters.

Ookami isn't a straight comedy, but also has some romance and drama. D-Frag is a straight comedy with a lot of parody, but if you like shows that focus on school students with lots of funny moments then both these shows are good options.
