Cromartie High School - Videos

If you are looking for true randomness and hilarity, look no further. Cromartie and Fumoffu are both quite amusing (though I definitely like Cromartie a bit more). Both break the mold of generic randomness and are very entertaining, and conveniently are both based around school.

Cromartie High School is about a high school filled with badasses who do crazy things; FMP Fumoffu is about a high school with one badass who does very crazy things. Both will make you laugh, often!

Fumoffu and Cromartie High are both anime that are completely random. Fumoffu is random because Sagara is so clueless about things, while Cromartie might be just plain weird to some. On top of that even the setting (high school) is the same!

On first sight, Cromartie High School and Gintama do not seem to have much in common. Significantly different artstyle, different setting and different number of episodes. However, the main reason for this recommendation is the similarities in style of humor, (mostly) excluding the episodes with a more serious tone in Gintama. Both series heavily rely on humor based on impressions given by characters on conduct by other characters, resulting in random (or unexpected) events. This is further aided with the Amanto (or aliens) in Gintama and the silent (and "animorphic") characters in Cromartie High School.

Furthermore, both series heavily rely on knowledge of the Japanese language and culture to be fully understood and appreciated. If you are able to watch these series with developers commentary and/or interpretations of experts in hand, I would definitely recommend consulting these notes while watching the shows.

The only main caution in this recommendation is that the pace and consistence of jokes of both series signicantly differ. Where Gintama is a rollercoaster of genres, Cromartie High School almost exclusively sticks to Comedy.

Both witty, both their own humour and a good laugh to watch if you like silly humour. Only difference is that cromartie does not have any serious arch stories like Gintoki san does at times

Both are great comedy anime also both have Characters that are really weird yet relatable in a very weird way

Their stories are completely different, the art styles are pretty different, they're both different in nearly every way; but the one thing they both have in common is their love/hate factor, mainly based on the humor, the characters and the dialogue.

They're both pretty outlandish and feature an oddball cast that can only suit their respective anime, coversations that seem pointless (Cromartie especially) and humor that only a select group would really enjoy (Others may get some laughs, but not as much).

I'm sure that if you enjoyed one, you can find some enjoyment in the other but if you disliked one, watch the other one with caution.

Both of these have a similar feel to them.  The comedy mostly stems from the "rational" protagonist who slowly accepts the outragious antics of those around him as completely normal.
