Gore, horror, gruesome deaths each surrounding high school kids. If you liked Corpse Party: Tortured Souls or Another, you'd like the other.

ZetsubouKaiji ZetsubouKaiji says...

Both anime are about students surrounded by death, desperately trying to solve a mystery before they are the next to die. Both series have creatively gory kills with plenty of blood and mutilation.

Another has a better plot and more consistent atmosphere, but if you're looking for a dark anime with plenty of gore and violent death then you should check out both of these anime.

NicoNicoDesu NicoNicoDesu says...

"Corpse Party" and "Another" are mystery-horror anime with dark atmospheres. Both revolve around a creepy little school that is obviously completely haunted and the kids who run around trying to figure out why everyone is dying at a rapid rate.

"Corpse Party" is one of those anime that tries to cram so much gore and death into such a short run time that the whole thing might as well just have gunned everyone down in the first five minutes. But they didn't, and that's what gives this show its mystery appeal. "Another," on the other hand, is all about mystery, and any fan of mystery anime who watched "CP" should watch "Another." And anyone who wants ridiculous (in a very awesome way, especially in the case of "Another") death scenes littered with blood and gore should watch both of these.

"Another" is superior to "CP," but it's in no way a masterpiece. But both are short, entertaining gorefests.

WaywardHunter WaywardHunter says...

They are both scary in terms of creepy and off-putting atmosphere. They are also very gory.

RoyalOss RoyalOss says...

Both shows are rather violent slashers, who will survive? How can they stop the killing?

But Another is a bit like the movie Final Destination where Corpse Party is more like a real horror slasher.

Do note that Corpse Party is alot more violent and graphic as Another, it is not for the feint hearted.

wonkuenoemos wonkuenoemos says...

Have similar setting where the characters were trapped in mysterious location and they were murdered one by one. If you wanna watch it, prepare your mentality because you'll see when character died in terrible and unpredictable way.

This warning just applies to you who doesn't like horror, cause it just small fry for someone who likes horror. XD

Riimaa Riimaa says...

They are kind of similar since they are both school horror. Plus the mains subject isa kind of dangerous school curse.

FullmetalDragon FullmetalDragon says...

Love gore? Well, obviously since you've seen Corpse Party/Another (please delete as appropriate) Want some more gore? Then give this a go!

YariMari YariMari says...

Both are school horror with lots of gore and kids dying left to right. They also have the same eerie atmosphere.

Max4444 Max4444 says...

Both of these anime are mystery/horror shows about students that die very gruesome deaths, while they try and figure out how to survive and stop the dying. Both are about the occult and rumours of ghost stories being true. I personally think Another did better on the mystery part. Someone that liked Corpse Party will likely enjoy Another, someone that liked Another has a high chance of enjoying Corpse Party.

wcyj3 wcyj3 says...

Both school kids surrounded by a bunch of gore and deaths. And also both feature a sense of mystery and a curse

Asyeurin Asyeurin says...

Corpse Party is more gore with a side of horror story, while Another is a horror story with a side of gore. Would recomend both to any fan of bloody horror, but would avoid if you're squeamish. While both anime fall into the gruesome side of horror, fans of more psychological horror are likely to enjoy Another as well, as it's less meatgrindery and has a sort of wink-wink-murder vibe going on. Good titles for any Hallowe'en list.

FeelsLikeHome FeelsLikeHome says...

They definitely both have the same feel about them!  Although I would say that Corpse Party is a little more gorier and spookier than Another.

AmazingMars AmazingMars says...

Both are mystery/horrors that focus around a group of children and how they live with a curse. Both feature gore and children dying, and both have a mystery the children are trying to find out before dying in horrendous ways

Pjuskehelt Pjuskehelt says...

Both animes take place on a school and are in the horror genre. Also, in both of these animes there's kind of a supernatural mystery that needs to be solved.

When They Cry: Higurashi

When They Cry: Higurashi

Maebara Keiichi, an ordinary high-school boy, has transferred to a new school in Hinamizawa, a small rural village. At the outset everything seems peaceful and Keiichi becomes friends with a nice group of schoolgirls with whom he spends many idle summer afternoons. Suddenly violence encroaches upon the blissful peace of the village and Keiichi becomes entangled in an endless cycle of fear and death. The inconsistent, but inevitable horrors of Hinamizawa are told and retold becoming an endless and inescapable nightmare of insanity. Will it end even if the mystery of Hinamizawa is solved?

Issengard Issengard says...

If you add some ghost to Higurashi you'll get Corpse Party: Tortured Souls. If you like gore and psychological plots you will like both series.

ZetsubouKaiji ZetsubouKaiji says...

Both anime feature a cast of cute girls thrown into the meat grinder of a gory horror anime. The characters must struggle to solve a mystery before they are killed in horrific ways.

Higurashi is a lot longer with better plot and characterization but both anime will satisfy horror fans looking for blood and gore.

zackarith zackarith says...

cute little kids doing really bad things haha.  similar art style and feel as well as way the story progresses.

Larkawolfgirl Larkawolfgirl says...

Do you like curses? Both of these stories are about a group of friends battling a curse. Death and gore ensue, but each group struggles to maintain their friendship.

ShowerOfSunshine ShowerOfSunshine says...

Not as much gore as Corpse Party but certain episodes are a bit freaky. If you love mysterious shows and creepy children, then both of these are for you.

FullmetalDragon FullmetalDragon says...

Do you like gore? Well look no further, because these series have it in bucketloads. Not for the feint of heart, although I guess if you're looking up recs for Corpse Party/Higurashi that doesn't really apply to you.

ZetsubouKaiji ZetsubouKaiji says...

These are both shows that think excessive gore is equals horror. Both these show are condensed versions of their source material that rush and compress the material into something that is really unsatisfying to watch.

The plots are quite different with Corpse Party being about a group of students trying to unravel a curse and Pupa is about a girl that turns into a monster that eats her brother so she doesn't murder other people. Corpse Party has a little bit of a plot even in it is compressed. Pupa skips around to the point of incoherency.

Pretty much if you're just looking for violent anime with some really inappropriate fanservice then try either of these titles, although be warned the gore in Pupa is heavily censored.

Brad Brad says...

Here we have two examples of shows that like to think that over the top gore is somehow the same thing as good horror, rather than trying to actually make the series scary through its writing or atmosphere.

They are both also pretty heavily butchered adaptations that rush through the source material with a staggering lack of respect. And while the premise in each aren't very similar at all, the only reason people will watch either of these is for the gore. So if that's your thing, you may find something to enjoy in both of these short series.

Jaimefm Jaimefm says...

Both of these titles are short, easily binged gore-fests. If you are in the mood for something with a semi-incoherent plot, but a lot of blood I would recommend either. I'm under the impression the main people watch either of these is to see the gore, or frustrate yourself trying to make sense of the story.

SheB3 SheB3 says...

Both anime have the baseline similarities, if you like gore, slight psychological horror, and an interesting short plot this works

Noraoto Noraoto says...

If you're into horrific horror along with bizarre in strong potent doses, both Corpse Party and Pupa do the trick. Would definitely recommend the other if you liked one of them.

These are both horror anime where cute students are killed off one by one. They both have a mystery at their heart that must be solved in order for the killing to stop. Both anime have a dark atmosphere that make them a good match for each other.

Each of these anime has a pretty dark atmosphere, and involved a bunch of cutesy characters getting murdered one by one. The plot in each also contains heavy mystery elements.

Adonerisu Adonerisu says...

If you liked watching Corpse Party, you'll enjoy watching Highschool of the Dead.  Both of these anime series are set in a school setting, one in high school, and the other in an elementary school. Along with having an abundance of violence and gore within, albeit Highschool of the Dead has it because survival is necessary, while Corpse Party tells the story of something altogether different.

Mystery and emotions are rampant in both series, as well as a sense of urgency being present in many scenes, as in Highschool of the Dead, it is unknown where the pandemic is coming from and in Corpse Party, it is unknown how the students have arrived in the old elementary school.

Lovers of Corpse Party should definitely check Highschool of the Dead out, as well as lovers of Highschool of the Dead enjoying Corpse Party!
