Both are school life anime consisting of a sarcastic male lead with a female alternative who is equally as cynical as well as a cheerful character who tries to get involved with the two.

Azukano Azukano says

The two main characters are near identical in terms of personality and way of thinking in a school setting. Very hypothetical and observant of sociology.

SeanMcMuffin SeanMcMuffin says

The main three characters are all really similar. Additionally, the anime takes place in a school setting along with SNAFU, and so far has consisted of the main three characters attempting to help their fellow classmates, just like the main cast of SNAFU.

The Irregular at Magic High School

The Irregular at Magic High School

The irregular at magic high school is set in a world where magic exists but instead of using chants and spells, magic users cast spells with their Casting Assistant Device (CAD). The CAD is infused with the user’s Psions (a substance-less thought particle) that activates the device and constructs the magic ritual.

Both Kiyotaka and Tatsuya are exceptional as students and possess a great many useful and practical skills belaying their relative position in school.  Neither one likes to stand out and both go out of their way to keep their name and identities out of the spotlight to the point of covering up the truth of their involvement.

goyunaipup goyunaipup says

Acctually It cannot explain the real reason that I think two of these is similar

because it will be spoil some content of the other one.

But for some reason, They main actor have the same ideal about ' Inequality of human-being ' so I think I like them both because of that reason.

and another reason is some story line they have more realistic not like other pop-anime.

dabestmoneva dabestmoneva says

Both show a main character that lacks emtion and wants a character that they spend quite a bit of their time with to succeed. They both possess lots of power but choose not to use it in front of others except when absolutely necessary.

Over the course of both, people around them begin to notice that they are much stronger than anyone else.

Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts

Fumizuki Academy is divided into classes ranked based purely on ability; Class A has laptops, reclining seats and ultimate comfort whereas Class F has to settle for a rundown classroom with rotten cushions and rickety coffee tables. Akihisa Yoshii has recently taken the placement exam and finds himself relegated to the lowly Class F along with many of his...

Azukano Azukano says

Class systems determined on grades and points. Classes compete with each other through grades of exams. Though Youkoso is more serious natured than Baka and Test.

vinod vinod says

if we remove the comedy content from Baka and have a cynical portaganist with hidden intelligence

Epimondas Epimondas says

Classroom looks like a more positive and intellectual clone of Baka.  The entire premise and school systems are virtually identical.  You could even say Kiyotaka looks like an older more mature version of Baka’s lead.
