Amazing. This anime is one of the best I've ever seen. This is the first anime I have ever watched that was able to play with my emotions, for that, this anime is truly a good watch, no matter who you are. The storyline for this show is amazing.  It touches on real-life situations both good and bad. It's so easy to get emotionally invested in this show. It's not an easily predictable anime. Meaning even though the result of some situations is predictable, the story to get to that result is not as easy to predict, making it very interesting. The character developments from the first season are very interesting. Even if you don't enjoy animes with no actions, this anime will still be good to watch with just how real it can feel. Usually, I am skeptical of anime sequels, but the developers of this anime really did an amazing job.

Really good, the second anime I ever watched (after Clannad, of course). Funny, sad, really good animation style. I just feel like the characters aren't developed as well as they could be. Definitely worth watching though xx

First of all This will Review will be for both Clannad and for Clannad after life :

So, after watching clannad specialy after life i cried whole time from Ep-16 to Ep-21. It is one of those anime and manga which mand me cry, though i'm bit serious type person with anime emotion complex.

my thoughts for this anime JUST GO AHEAD and Try to Understand whole series and also i recommmand watch in  japanese Because It gives bit Clear emotionl touch and felling of character

It filled with School life romance, Bit Supernatural phenomenon (Diffrent Dimention), Lots of emotion (Specially in After Life ), Comedy

POINTS TO REMEMBER  WHILE WATCHING CLANNAD / AFTER-LIFE

  1. Since this anime is made long ago in 2007-2008 its animation is not good in 360p-480p i think so. may be 720p is bettter, ( i watched Whole series in Blu-ray 1080p so i did'nt get feel of old animation i was not sure of anime beacuse of  art but it wins my heart when i watched it )
  2. As i suggested before too, Watch in Japanese
  3. Also, i recommandad watch whole series in one go or in 2-3 partition if u keep days diffrence in watching its feel and emotion along all the episode cannot be continued
  4. yea also If u are downloading First Download all ep then watch so it convenient to wach Without trouble
  5. Watch Movie in last or else it will leave lots of spoiler in your mind then dont tell me in reply u did't mentioned in review

Tomoya.... T.TThis review contains NO spoilers!
Having just finished the legendary Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, I was looking for a new anime to marathon. A friend of mine recommended Clannad, which had been lying around for a while. I can't say I was very impressed. It was OK, but the hype just didn't get to me (UPDATE: rewatched Clannad, it's a 10/10). Following that I decide to stop at episode 22 and call it quits. Doubting I was going to watch After Story, I decide to spoil the plot..... Now this review is being written.

Animation:
The first thing you have to talk about in an anime is the animation! Clannad has never been something to write home to about, but I was pleased to see After Story had some much needed improvement. Movements were more fluid, facial expressions are TOP NOTCH and really enhance the quality of the scenes, and the backgrounds looked great. I assume the art style was just to keep it in-line with the visual novel and as a result we have Nagisa's eyes. (UPDATE: In 1080p it SHINES with clear, crisp animation. However, in darker scenes the animation gets cloudy and degrades in quality).

Sound:
The opening is regarded as being one of the best in all of anime fandom. I completely agree and as the series progresses the opening gets better, due to events in the show. The ending is ok; not exactly as good as Secret Base from AnoHana or the ending from the first series, but still decent. The shows actual music is hit or miss. It's very visual novel-y, which I tend not to like. Fate/Stay Night (also a visual novel originally) had a superior score, redone by Kenji Kawaii. There is one thing that must be said though. In all the moments it has to the music REALLY pulls through and makes the scene. By the time you finsih episode 16 you'll understand what I mean.

The show's dub is mediocre. I wound up watching it subbed and I'm glad I did. Tomoya's voice actor is phenomenal. Every emotion is brought to life as he speaks and it's incredibly convincing. The rest of the cast is also quite good. Akio is melo-dramatic and theatrical. Sanae is always amusing in her comedic crying fits over bread. Fuko is as childish as ever.

Characters:
The biggest problem with an anime based on a visual novel is that the main character is usually shovelware. This DEFINITELY was NOT the case with Clannad After Story. In fact, Tomoya was one of the most excellent leading characters I have ever seen. All his expressions, reactions, and dialogue is very belivable and contains great deapth. Granted he isn't as scripted as Lelouch from Code Geass, but this allows the viewer to fill into his role. Thus experiencing the emotion in a more first-hand kind of way. I was never really a fan of Nagisa. Her animation really lets the character down, but in the later parts of After Story she really comes into her own. Akio is a refreshing character. Managing to be both serious and comedic in equal proportions. The rest of the harem isn't really shown much, but that's understandable considering the flow of the story this time around.

Story:

Clannad After Story is a medley of emotions. You'll laugh, shed tears of sadness and tears of joy. You'll feel yourself in the story. The first part of Clannad After Story, which I really enjoyed was when we get to see into Misae's (the dorm mother's) past. That story could EASILY hold its own anime. Very romantic and very fun. The ending was a tad bit stupid though, but it was the predictable ending. The arc about delinquents and gangs was tedious, but it's worth watching to reach the true story of Clannad. Tomoya's life with his family. The ending wasn't what I had hoped for, although most viewers will be satisfied with it (depending on your prefrences of course). At the very least it won't leave you bitter. The ending is very visual novel-ish. You "unlock" the true route when you collect enough of an item. Despite that it was a decent ending and the rest of the show's story is phenomenal.

TLDR:
Clannad After Story is incredible. Tomoya is one of the greatest characters of all time. The show is VERY emotional. I recommend it to all who enjoy good anime. If you liked this you should also watch Angel Beats (same writer).

My main problem with Clannad After Story is the first 8 episodes; those episodes really serve no purpose then to develope side characters from Clannad who don't really need developing. I just wanted to see Tomoyo and Nagsias' relationship develop - however after episode 8 this soely becomes the focus of the series - the ups and downs of there relationship and Tomoyo really develops into one animes best characters. Episodes 16-22 have some of the saddest moments I have ever seen from an anime and will test those with hearts of stone (I sobbed about 3 times during those episodes - episode 18 was the saddest).

Clannad had far more of a focused story then After Story did, but the later half starts to become far surperior simply because of how emotionally engaging it is - if it wasn't for those first 8 episodes then Clannad After Story could of been a masterpiece.
