If you're looking for a more dramatic - but not too dramatic - yuri series, both Bloom Into You and Citrus should fit the bill. They both feature solid storylines that feature relationships where one of the partner girls is dealing with personal issues. The sex scenes in both series are very subtle and not explicit so even if you're not comfortable with same-sex relationships, the characters and plotlines make these series a good watch.

KarmaKhameleon KarmaKhameleon says...

Both anime coincidentally feature a raven haired class president and their romantic relationship with a fellow female classmate who's names are similar, Yuzu and Yuu, one having red hair and the other having blonde hair. The similarities don't stop there, in each anime one of the girls is completely thrown for a loop when their friend expresses their romantic feelings for the other.

Timed Timed says...

To start these are both GL Romance anime, they are both well made and have good plots that were entertaining to watch whiel it is still a romance. Bloom Into You is more based in the sudent council part of school while Citrus isn't as much, but they are both school life anime. They both have very good scenes that fit the anime well, and are both excellent GL anime to watch.

Civan3931 Civan3931 says...

Both are the types of Yuri anime theme and sometimes with drama types, all of this is depends on the view of girl love with the student council and the lover one, all of which are special of Yuri anime.

ChiefEugene ChiefEugene says...

Citrus and Bloom Into You feature very very similar characters, with very similar traits. Both have 2 MC's, one of which is oblivious or is not fully understanding to the meaning of "love", whereas the other one exhibits a sort of unfair one-sided love, though not necessarily unrequited. To put it simply, both shows ground themselves on defining what is the true definition (though subjective) of love. Just as a reference, the following characters are similar:- Nanami Touko - Mei Aihara (In regards to unfair love)- Yuu Koito - Yuzu Aihara (In regards to innocence, or lack of understanding in regards to love)Just to clarify however, the similarities in characters I'm pointing at is purely the power differencial between the respective MC's, in each respective pair.

Kuzu no Honkai and Citrus likely would share similar audiences, though there are some obvious thematic differences. I won't go into them, as I suspect it might spoil some of the surprises, but suffice it to say that they are both dramatic anime, heavily focused on romance, are extremely graphic, and seem to be emotional rollercoasters.

There are numerous differences between the two series, which I won't get into, but you should consider this one if you liked Kuzu no Honkai, and vice versa.

Xuvium Xuvium says...

Both anime have a mature theme vibe that I got from the first episode. They seem to have heavy sexual contact and quite strong emtional romantic relationships.

I believe if you like one, you're going to like the other.

  • Although they are very different thematically, they are still animes that I liked a lot and that I certainly recommend to everyone, especially to those who like drama 💖😉💜😊 !!

Both focus on the aspect of shoujo ai, but citrus bends more towards the yuri side of things. Adachi to shimamura is mainly slice of life, with light hearted feelings and slow paced episodes, while citrus really kicks it in with the drama and intense LGBT scenes. If you like yuri or shoujo ai and you liked citrus, you might enjoy Adachi to shimamura if you are looking for something more wholesome

marz1pan marz1pan says...

The obvious reason you'd like either or is because they are GL anime. Another reason is because I personally find them very wholesome and enjoyable. And it is nice to see both sides of a GL anime, which they both convey.

Freakwentlykind Freakwentlykind says...

They are similar in that they are both queer and high school age. But I'd say Adachi and Shimamura is far more innocent and tentative. Citrus is more sassy, funny and horny tbh. Both worth a watch though!

Netsuzou Trap

Netsuzou Trap

Yuma and Hotaru have been friends since childhood. It is only natural that when Yuma is nervous about her new boyfriend, she asks Hotaru and her boyfriend along for a double date. But when Hotaru offers herself to Yuma as “practice”, both girls realize that they’re more interested in each other than they are in their own boyfriends. With boyfriends in the foreground but a secret, passionate tryst in the background, will Yuma and Hotaru try to forget what happened between them or have they fallen into a trap of true love and betrayal?

Both series are yuri with a blonde haired girl falling in love with a dark haired girl, who has personal issues. NTR is more explicit & has the element of cheating while Citrus is very light with the explicit scenes & only involves girls. Both series goes through the struggles & development of these girls & their feelings for each other. They both have manga that are currently (as of Feb 2018) ongoing. Both manga series is more intricate than the anime, which only got 12 episodes (as of Feb 2018).

blue1r1s blue1r1s says...

Both Citrus and Netsuzou Trap deal with moraly ambiguous characters.

Both series depict forbidden teenage love with somehow offputting or unrelatable characters granted that might be refreshing from the nice guy or cute heroine main characters for some people but I personaly can't see the appeal.

TheTacticianMusician TheTacticianMusician says...

Citrus and Domestic Girlfriend are pretty much the same anime with one key difference. First the similarities:

  • They both are about the protagonist's parents re-marrying.
  • The parents both marry the parent of someone the protagonist knows at school.
  • The protagonist and the new siblings eventually start having an incestial relationship
  • In both, one of the love interests holds some position of power in the school
  • One of the love interests (in both) is randomly aggressive AF at times.
  • The rest of the anime is essentially just spicy monemts one after the other.

Now the key differences with Citrus:

  • Not only is it incest, but they're also both girls, so lesbian incest...
  • No sex actually happens in the show

And that's about it...

Starletka Starletka says...

Both are soap opera trash shows full of hentai tropes, about step siblings who fall in lust. The only difference is one is straight and one is gay.

Candy Boy

Candy Boy

Yukino and Kanade are twin sisters who now share a room at their new school in Tokyo. Ever since they were little, the pair has been exceptionally close – perhaps even a bit too close for siblings when eyes are turned away. But soon a girl named Sakuya, who often tails the two, begins to grow closer to Yukino; and after an alleged confession that she hears about, Kanade begins to get worried that something is going on behind her back. Can the three of the girls keep their relationships with each other on stable ground, or will jealousy and heartache come crashing down on them?

Both are yuri titles involving sisters developing romantic feelings for each other. Though the sisters in Citrus are not related by blood, but step-sisters that do develop a physical relationship. The sisters in Candy Boy are blood-related, but outside of a small smooch at the end, there isn't really much sexual tension between them. Both series feature a characters that aims to break up the sisters in love.

This anime is beautiful showing the relationship between 2 sisters and shows how much they love eachother

Say "I love you."

Say "I love you."

Mei Tachibana has had neither a friend nor a boyfriend in 16 years, and she doesn’t plan on ending that streak any time soon. The outcast learned years ago that social obligations only lead to pain, and has carefully guarded her heart to keep from getting hurt. However, the girl can’t stay withdrawn forever, especially after attracting the attention of the handsome Yamato, who finds her caustic personality interesting and strives to date her after she roundhouse kicks him down the stairs. But even the most earnest of romances can be crippled by jealousy and insecurity, and this pair has plenty of both. Can their feelings for each other overcome their own emotional weaknesses, or will this love perish before it even begins?

I'd say they both a have a main character who's going to experience new romantic and sexual things. They both have maturer side of teenage romance which brings a more serious tone to each anime.

Strawberry Panic contains a good story told with lots of different people. We follow some of their storylines which in the end will make 1 complete storyline which makes it so much better. It does start slow at first but having watched the whole thing, I can say it was worth the watch! Citrus is kind of alike, instead it follows one main character's, Yuzu's, storyline. I love it, can't say anything else. Too bad it ended so soon though. :/ In my opinion, there should be a season 2.

Peach Girl

Peach Girl

Momo is loud, shallow, a player, a betrayer, and one to best stay away from -- or at least, that's the misconception people have when they see her makeup, bleached hair and suntanned skin. In reality, Momo just wants the same friends, hobbies and crushes any girl her age would like. However, when her only friend starts spreading rumours about her, her boyfriend starts to doubt her, and the most popular boy in school starts to take a more then friendly interest in her, she'll have much more to worry about than just her appearance!

Both anime involve the main character finding out that they have a step sibling, and eventually start a romantic relationship with this step sibling.

The main character is very happy go lucky, while the other character has a dark past, and is more brooding. Both anime involve same sex relationships, Super Lovers being a Boys love, and Citrus being a Girls love.
