Potential spoilers ahead. Disclaimer 1: Watched as part of DTAB (Damn that anime is Bad) so went into it expecting a bad anime. Disclaimer 2: We watched the English dubbed version rather than original Japanese. Captain of Cosmos is a difficult one to review, it's not like any anime I've watched before and being from 1979 my rating of 2/10 for animation is potentially unfair giving the technology however if you're watching it in 2019 like I was, it's a 2/10. So many frames were re-used, the animation is limited due to the year it was made. However it wasn't unbearable. With regards to the sound, the dubbed version was pretty horrible, with the exception of a pretty catchy bit of music playing randomly in the background, the voiceover was awful. It sounds like they picked up some random people from the supermarket, offered them £100 each to read the lines. Parts of the anime randomly reverted back to the Japanese audio too and for certain characters we heard 2 to 3 different voice actors play them. Furthermore the characters regularly changed accents. The story was alright I thought, probably the best part about it and so I've given it a rather high 5/10. It's still not going to get your heart racing or anything though. With regards to characters, they'll make you laugh that's for sure. From the queen who uses a battleaxe as a staff, to the little fella who regularly shouts degrading things to the others.
