Both anime have a twelve-year-old orphan girl who has various problems and must be strong.

The basic differences are that in Full Moon, Mitsuki has mostly physical problems in modern age Japan but Candy has more emotional problems (like hate from others).

Usually their problems are solved with the help of shinigami (Full Moon) and adopted brothers (Candy Candy Series).

Both anime will make you cry almost in every episode.

"Candy Candy" and "Whisper of the Heart" are very similar anime; and although the time and place differs, the main story remains alike. In both, the plot is about youngsters who insensibly fall in love at the end. Both anime are full of adventure; there is a main adventure and small funny events unrelated to it. After all, both anime are a story about how a character finds her true path and place in the world.

The complex love triangles in "Ocean Waves" and "Candy Candy" are very similar. The simplest phrase to comment both anime would be "she loves him, but she is loved by another one" or vice versa. In the end, of course, the lovers will find their match but before that there will be many complex and unexpected situations. Both anime are rather calm and light, and would be preferable for those who love romance anime.

Both Akage no Anne and Candy Candy are calm stories about the life of a poor county girl who is finding her place in life. I think Candy and Anne are both sweet and kind girls with a big heart capable of doing good thing for others and to love. Neither of them understands why there are people who are bad and both believe that everyone has his good side. The drawing style is very alike and the times the stories take place in are also alike.
