Wow these reviews are all over the place for this anime. 

if you are looking for a simple, laid back, no stress anime, this is it. It is very sweet story line about an overworked worker from Japan that gets a second chance to have a happy life with magic powers! 

sorry line is easy to follow, animation is nothing special but enough. Characters are warm and charming. Overall I really enojoyed the anime. I know that some serious Otako's out there want to preserve the essence of the web novel or manga but that rarely happens. Give it a try, your heart might enjoy it. 

As for the relationship between the main character and the girl, it's awkward how people say he is a 40 year old with eyes on a little girl. I mean there is currently an anime "Over the moon" who has thousand year old vampire seduce a young boy, but that's okay? It's his second life and even explain that his emotions / Psyche have reverted to a younger age. But whatever, I did read the manga and of course it's much better but that is with every anime.

By the Grace of the Gods is anime that leaves you with a smile on your face. At least, that is the impression I had after watching it. I absolutely loved the characters, not just the main character. Everyone was so kind, giving, and helpful toward one another, something that we need to see more in anime and in life. It's a classic fantasy adventure anime where the main character is transported to another world, which are my favorite, and he meets kind people who show him this new world. I gave this a higher score because it left me with a positive feeling, and I liked the creative way he used magic and the slimes as a tamer. The music was great, especially the violin and guitar, in the bird scene. The story was okay, but there was no real conflict or obstacles to overcome. I actually liked that about it though. It was pleasant without making the audience feel bored, or like nothing was happening in the story at all. It felt more like an OP character setting goals to reach step by step.  I hope there will be a season 2, to see where the characters end up when they reunite. .

I think that this is a really good anime for those who would like to see a relaxing fantasy-adventure isekai. The anime is really great but I have not read the manga so I don't know how it compares. Only negative thing I have to really complain about is how the horses looks compared to the rest of the anime. It looks like it is a CG animated horse while everything else is 2D which does not fit in.

I think what a lot of people who give this anime a bad review are missing is the fact that its an Iyashiki. The plot is slow and has no real conflict since iyashiki typicaly don't. I do wish they had explored the magic system a little more but thats more personal prefrence for nitty gritty details for magic. Overall a good relaxing anime with just enough humor to keep it interesting.
