Sakurade reset And Boogiepop. Both animes are about human evolution/super or psychic power, and in both cases it is dealt with in a very philosophical fashion. It is not about showing off big or flash stuff, epic battle or stuff like that, it is more about what part these powers play on the individual and in society : what it means to have them, what it means to use them, what it means to keep them, or on the contrary to get rid of them. In both cases, the writing is mastered in such a way that it proves that you don't need to start from point A to end to point Z to understand a story. One would say, of course, that this kind of writing cannot please everyone (thus they are rated 3.3 ans 3.5), but still both are unconventional gems that steps out of your usual, typical superpower show. The depth in these animes is welcomed, and such an approach should be encouraged. One would say that they target a niche audience, since philosophy is not really the type of most anime watchers, but those who get the message behind these, or just understand the depth they offer, will probably be satisfied.

If you liked Tokyo Ghoul for its action, darkness and horror elements, you will like Boogiepop and Others, and vice versa. Both animes have have a dark fantastical vibe and compliment each other well.
