I'd recommend either Lovely Complex or Bokura ga Ita because both get their dynamic feel from the charismatic male protagonists. Nana and Yano's interactions are just as befuddling, frustrating, funny and gush-inducing as Risa and Otani's. Bokura ga Ita is far more tragic, but somehow, along the way, they give a similar sort of feeling.

Watching Lovely Complex reminded me of Bokura ga Ita, mostly because of the style of facial expressions. Both series are all-around funny, and the romance is extremely heart-warming. The two anime deal with the drama that highschool love brings, and it'll be sure to bring you emotions of joy and sadness. Lovely Complex exposes much more humour and lets you think of the social norms when it comes to relationships.

For those who love romance anime, mostly girls I suppose, Lovely Complex and Bokura Ga Ita are excellent choices. Both anime talk about the difficulties of love, especially when you are at a young age. Through both anime one can realise how much effort it takes to express your feelings and how an in love teenager's determination can overcome any obstacle! I think that if you liked one of them, you'll love the other one as well!

Both Bokura ga Ita and Lovely Complex are fun and romantic stories, and they have the same warm feeling. Lovely Complex is more humouristic, but still there is the same love and friendship behind the story. Both anime are basic romantic comedies, and they have similarities in plot, characters and environment.

Bokura ga Ita and Lovely Complex are both romance-drama-shoujo anime, focusing on a pairing between the two main characters-- no reverse harems here. However, the relationships in either series are far from smooth, and the occasional third-party might wander in to present a roadblock, but little more than that.

Both shows approach the romance in a realistic way, more-so, even, in Bokura. The relationships are strained and difficult to maintain, at times, but both sides are trying, if only in their own ways.

The main difference between the two shows is that Lovely Complex is more upbeat and comedic, while Bokura ga Ita is more realistic and dramatic.

Lovely Complex is a very toching romance.It's plot is quite similar to Bokura ga ita's:both characters are classmates and they end up being togheter after going through many hardships,especially the girl.The main differences between the two anime are the fact that Lovely Complex is a romantic comedy and it has a happy ending so you will certainly like it.

Lovely Complex and Bokura ga Ita are very similar, but Lovely Complex have more comedy in it. They are both cute love stories without ecchi and that is what I think I like about these animes. If you liked Bokura ga Ita I'm sure you will like Lovely Complex too!

I started watching these two animes one after another because of the recomendations here on anime-planet, but now when I finished watching them both I really agree that they are alike. First, both couples are orange-haired ;) next, kinda strange that in both animes love developes already in first 5 series, next is just an understanding of the feelings; and also big climax in both animes is when another guy starts to like the main girl :)

Although Lovely Complex has the large amounts of humour in the series which drives the plotline of girl/boy romance, Bokura ga Ita tackles this from the more serious side.  However, the quality of plot is equally as good and although they have some differences, the series are similiar enough in feeling that will make watching either one easy, if you've seen the other.

Playing on the difficulties of love during school days, experience the rollercoaster of adolescent romance as it climbs to a peak, only to painfully fall off the other side. Both are a must for fans of romance.

If you liked one then you may want to check out the other because both mainly revolve around a young couple as they try to get together while at the sametime avoiding various obstacles.  These obstacles usually end up taking the form of something like a misunderstanding, a rival, or some other such thing.  But it doesn't take long for one issue to get resolved and the couple are happy again before something new comes up and the process repeats.  Though Lovely Complex tends to be a lot more on the comedy side of things than Bokura ga Ita is they both are still pretty similar overall.

The graphics are almost the same, if not exactly. The plots are actually nothing alike, but you can think Lovely Complex as the "first" season of Bokura ga Ita.

When I watched Lovely complex 1 episode it reminded me of Bokur ga Ita so much! Both of these anime are those which you cannot stop watching when you started and you wish to be for the second part.At least I did! I just adore this kind of anime,they were so similar in story and drawing style but at the same time diferent cause i coudn't stop laughing when i watched Lovely complex meanwhile bokura ga ita was serious but involving. I strongly recommend to watch both if you didn't!

Lovely Complex and We Were There are both amazing. The story lines are similar with two people obviously in love, but it not working out. You won't regret watching Lovely Complex :)

Both stories are centered around a girl's school life, but the girls' personalities and their looks are very different. In Bokura ga Ita, Yano Motoharu, who is a cool, calm and flirty boy with a careless smile, is very similar to Peach Girl's Kairi Okayasu. Both stories have dramatic love triangles as well. If you are looking for drama, romance, and school life then you should watch these series!

Peach Girl and Bokura ga Ita heavily revolve around the "drama" genre. They each have love triangles, and societal misunderstandings at their core - sometimes leaving the audience impatient and annoyed. Both have their perky moments, and sarcastic humour; both also have an unlikable villain and a choice between two guys. This is shoujo; Bokura ga Ita and Peach Girl are great titles. I loved the soft paste-like colours in Bokura ga Ita, while I enjoyed the character blueprint in Peach Girl.

Both Nanami and Momo have to confront the memories of the girls their boyfriends loved, while fighting their own insecurities. School life, first love, love triangles, drama, and also funny moments can all be found while watching them.

As I absolutely love romance, I recommend that you watch Peach Girl and Bokura ga Ita. Each anime is filled with passion, comedy, and a twisted story that will make you gasp and hope for the best ending. A lot of family members are involved, but they are both absolutely amazing anime. Enjoy!

This is just a matter of trust. I absolutely loved the both of them. The drama in both of these anime keep you hooked until you've seen it until the end. Both anime's have villians that frustrate you, and you will laugh at their stellar failures.

Both of these animes center around a girl caught in the middle of a love triangle, where one of her choices seems to be the all around "good guy" , and the other is not necesarily "boyfriend" material. The two stories are extremely similar filled with emotion and they seem to draw you into the story. Bokura ga Ita does have a bit more of a serious mood than Peach Girl, but you should enjoy one just as much as the other.

Each of these has a girl split between two guys. I would say that Bokura ga Ita has a more serious tone while Peach Girl feels more like a soap opera but is still just as enjoyable. What I liked about both of these is that, even while being 25 and 26 episodes, there's not really any side stories, filler or too much comedy. They're both all about the drama!

Similar characters, the same plot development and a sweet feeling, this is what Peach Girl and We Were There are delivering to the audience. Both are shoujo works focusing a lot on relationship between freinds, lovers and even antagonists. While Peach Girl is much more simplistic and idiotic, Bokura ga Ita delivers a more believable dramatic story with a greater depth. My guess is that if you liked one, you will enjoy the other one too.

They are one in the same almost with different nuances here and there. I would say I liked Bokura ga Ita more mainly due to the anime style. You have the indecisive women,  love triangle, and underdog charater that gives you conflict if you want to root for them or not.

KGNE and Bokura ga Ita are tear-jerkers about confused characters in love with each other. While the characters provide many moments of frustration for the viewer ('WHY CAN'T THEY JUST SAY AND DO WHAT THEY MEAN?!'), their behaviour is satisfyingly complex and their dilemmas sympathetic. The idea in both is that love hurts (astronomically) but that the occasional joys it provides make it worth it.

When tragedy strikes the one you love, moving on can be difficult. Both Kimi ga Nozomu Eien and Bokura ga Ita follow the struggles of letting yourself fall in love again.

Narumi & Yano both deal with memories of the past creeping up when least expected. Both series also have strong outlying relationships. The story isn't really just about the main characters' relationship, but also about the interactions of a larger group of friends and aquaintances, and people who have to decide if friendship or love takes priority.

I personally think Bokura ga Ita has a slightly less tragic feeling than Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, but the both seem, to me, to be strong relationship dramas. Narumi in Kimi ga Nozomu Eien isn't as outwardly cheerful as Yano, so it doesn't have as much comic relief as Bokura ga Ita. Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is also a little more 'adult.' The characters are a little older, and the relationships a little more mature, but the same basic underlying issues remain. So this recommendation comes with the caveat that if you need some lightheartedness mixed in, you may not like Kimi ga Nozomu Eien as much. But if you like the more heartfelt dramas that tackle tough issues, I think this one's for you.

If you liked the maturity of the themes, the depth of the characters, and the emotions conveyed in Bokura ga Ita, then you may enjoy watching Kimi ga Nozomu Eien. It's shorter and more intense than Bokura ga Ita, and can take a heavier emotional toll on the viewer, but is addictive and enjoyable nonetheless as it takes you through the relationships and life choices of its main characters. Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is a tear-inducing classic, even for men who usually enjoy shounen!

In "Rumbling Hearts" and "Bokura ga Ita" the similarities are countless. Both animes have a very heavy dose of drama. The main theme is relationships and the serious issues that can interfere with them. What tells them apart is mainly the visuals.

As a series both Bokura ga Ita and Kimi ga Nozomu Eien share a lot of common themes and characters. These two series do a fantastic job at telling a unique story that gradually fells like watching a modern Shakespearean play. As for the plot of the story you'll find it quite similar as both male leads have their difficulties dealing with the past and sorting out the present. While Kimi ga Nozomu Eien has a more depressing atmosphere, it's highly likely that you'll be drawn into both series despite their difference in mood.

If you liked Bokura Ga Ita, you'll surely find it similar to Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien and you'll enjoy watching it. The latter, is starts with the school life of 4 teenagers, their friendship and romantic situations they find themselves into. Just like Bokura Ga Ita, this anime has a lot of tragedy and the struggling of young people to make choices, figure out theirselves and go on with their lives.

Besides the obvious drama and romance that's involved, these two anime really are more geared towards an older audience.

What relates Bokura ga Ita to Rumbling Hearts, is that they both deal with relationships now and back then.  They both talk about loving someone now and thinking about who you loved in the past.  I think both the male characters develop the most in these two series, and learn what's most important to them.

If you loved one because of the depth in their relationship, then you'll for sure love the other.  Besides the evidently different animation styles, the story itself is really similar.

Bokura ga Ita and Kimi ga Nozomu Eien are both powerfully emotional dramas that deal with the struggles between romantic feelings, tragic pasts and love triangles between friends.  In both cases, these series are in no way predictable, there is no particularly right or wrong answer to who should end up with whom in the love triangles, and each character develops further throughout each series, as they go through the highs and lows of their relationship situations, finding out not only more about each other but about themselves as well.  If you enjoyed one series, you'll definitely enjoy the other.

when i started watching Kimi ni Todoke i thought that this is like a season 2 for Bokura ga Ita, both of them have almost the same type of "touching" romance aspect and even the animation of this two animes are quite similar.Both of this animes have a realistic type of romance aspect so if you like one of them you will definitely like the other one as well

Although Kimi ni Todoke is still on air, I'd like to recommend both ways. Both stories are about a girl & a boy having a romance, and while they get to know each other, they more and more get to know themselves. The inprovement of the characters of the story is a main point of the show. Highly recommended.

One of the other series I first thought of when watching Kimi ni Todoke was Bokura ga Ita.  The relationship between the two main character have the same types of conflicts and real life issues that have to be overcome to make relationships work.  The naivity set forth by both of the main characters is accuratly portrayed, while the suspense of the series keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.

Kimi ni Todoke is like a watered down version of Bokura ga Ita but both deal with real life issues, are similar in animation and have this teenage romance thing going. If you're going for the pure love Bokura showcased, then you'll like Kimi ni Todoke. They're both really touching in some ways but Kimi ni todoke includes more humor and to be honest, more likable characters- it's nana without being a martyr and yano without being conceited so in short, if you want the romance without too much of the drama, try out Kimi ni Todoke.

Both Yano and Shota have similar actions in some parts. I personally like Kimi ni Todoke better because it is less depressing, and Yano pisses me off a lot of times. And Nana also makes me mad sometimes because she is not truthful at times but Sawako is really truthful and innocent well Nana is innocent too. But in the end i like Kimi ni Todoke better because of the outlook of a happier ending and the main chracters Shota and Sawako i even like the side chracter Ryu. Also another downer on Bokura ga ita is Yamamoto I HATE HER!! But other than that Bokura ga Ita has a nice story and is sweet...but Kimi ni Todoke is better lighter story.

Well both are fairly heavy romance animes that feature a female lead who tends to be somewhat naive to certain things.  Also certain parts of the male lead are similar as well though still different enough to make them not feel like copies of each other.  Though Kimi ni Todoke is more of a comedy with a good amount of romance mixed in and Bokura ga Ita is more romance with a lot of drama mixed in.  Both series are still basically the same in that they are both stories of highschool romances.

Both have a destined to be couple, supportive friends, a 'friend' that tries to interfere with their relationship and they're both packed full of drama!

Kimi ni Tdoke is a slower, less dramatic anime but so much more heart poundingi have recomended this anime to my friends and family and i dont normally like romance animes, both bokura ga ita and kimi ni todoke are great, if you like romance and slice of life animes at all i say you most likely will love Kimi ni Tdoke, unless your a little boy who likes nothing but gore

The responsibilities in the classes, clubs, etc. that the characters hold in these two anime give the viewer the idea that life still can progress even with all of those activities.

If you enjoy or enjoyed Kare Kano or Bokura ga Ita, you'd like the other without a doubt!

Both "Bokura ga Ita" and "His and Her Circumstances" are about a young couple struggling to make their relationship work due to troubling pasts. While "Bokura ga Ita" is a bit more 'dramatic' "His & Her circumstances" has more comical elements. What I really like about the two shows, however, is their pace; neither one of them are afraid to slow down and be thoughtful and quiet. If you've seen one I'm convinced you'd like the other :)

Both Kare Kano and Bokura Ga Ita are anime dealing with the romance life of teenagers. Kare Kano's main characters have a strong bind, love each other, however have to overcome obstacles and problems that most of the time are created by themselves. In Bokura Ga Ita, the difficulties that the couple, Yano and Nana, encounter, have to do with Yano's past. Both anime, very touching but also funny at times, show us how much one can and should fight for a relatinship! Both are similar but unique as well, so I'm sure that if you liked one, you will like the other one too!

In both cases main male hero is a "perfect person" from the outside, but is a bit more cynical and sometimes even violent as more of his character unfolds.

The main connection between the two is that they are both feature a young guy and girl as they come to fall in love with each other during their time in highschool.  The male leads also have a lot in common in both case with both of them being what appears to be perfect, but actual have something hidden beneath the surface that has to do with their past.  Though Bokura ga Ita tends to be more on the drama side of things and Kare Kano tends to be a bit more on the comedy side.  So if you liked one then you'll probably like the other.

Beyond having one too many characters named ‘Nana', both NANA and Bokura ga Ita are realistic romance dramas that don't need bizarre premises to create believable relationships. The female leads of both series are sympathetic and very real- they make some poor decisions, but not strained such that it feels like the writers just needed them to be momentarily stupid to progress the plot.

Tragic confused romance. If you liked that about either Nana or Bokura ga Ita and wanted more, then I suggest you try the next one. Bokura ga Ita takes a far more high-school approach, whereas Nana is more mature and complex, But for good ol' fashioned romantic drama that's packed with anguish and difficult choices, you can't go wrong with either.

you cannot beat the dramatic realistic romances such as that of Nana and Bokura ga Ita!  With strong female leads who get themselves thrown into tough and hard to deal with situations faced by many a girl out in the world, viewers take the rollercoaster journey with them through their hardships.  All of the main characters in these two series are named Nana (ironically) but their tragic romantic troubles also are mirror images of struggles they have to go through and push through to strive on.

The worlds of the characters of Bokura ga Ita and Nana are very different, but it is the quality of the relationships that made me love them. Regardless of what kind of lives the characters lead, the way they interact and develop with each other is incredibly realistic. Both anime have storylines are very well put together, so if you liked one, definitely give the other a try.

Both animes are similar.. Nana shows relationships and heartache with different couples that the main character comes across, and Bokura Ga Ita however focuses on one couple but still has heartache and how they deal with it along their journey :)

While one puts a lot of emphasy on vocation the other focuses solely on romance. The audiences for these shows might differ but the feeling and the way the characters develops and the story unravels  are quite similar. Give them a shot, you won't regret it!

These two series both have a good realistic view about life, people, love and relationships. Both are beautiful heartwarming and heartaching stories with believable characters.

For people who are deeply in love with each other life should be easy - not for pairs from 5 cm/s and Bokura Ga Ita. These two anime show how difficult it is to maintain great realtionship despite from great feelings involved.

Both stories has to do with love and separation from the loved one. While Byousoku 5 Centimeter is a lonely story and Bokura ga Ita is more like a normal couple story with being together and being separated, both has an powerful feeling of longing - if nothing ever going to be right.

Bokura ga ita and 5 Centimeters per Second show the hard realities life portrays.  Even though there are good times life is not all filled with happy endings and relationships consist of a huge part of that.  Both of these stories show just how heartbreaking life can be at some points and how the characters in the story can survive past them.  Relationships are hard no matter what and separation from the one you love is even harder to deal with.

In both stories, "ideal" high school romances ultimately are anything but ideal. Subject to the pressure of life events, will the characters be able to stay together, or will they just end up hurting each other?

Both Bokura ga Ita and Itazura Kiss deal with the relationship of two high school students. Though their story line are not identical, it is true that the lead characters do not fall in love with each other immediately, but in the end their love is reciprocated.

These anime are truly very flowery and romantic, in which the girl is a bit stupid, but very fragile, and knows very little about the boy, which makes her cry often.

Relationships are always going to be complicated as the characters in Itazura na Kiss and Bokura ga Ita come to realize.  Both of these animes feature great real life tales that deal with the hardships of trying to keep a relationship going.

Both animes revolve around "love" and show the struggles and advantages of loving somebody. However, in Bokura ga Ita, it's a little more bittersweet but not as happy as Itazura na Kiss.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun reminded of Bokura ga Ita...both have a similar atmoshpere. If you liked this anime you'll like the other one as well.

Really cutesy in the same way, both will make your heart melt because they are both extremely cute! The stories are similar but Bokura Ga Ita is the girl being confused and the guy being indecisive. Both guys have a rough past and they are all great characters.

The relationships are so similar in both of these stories. Both couples have a confession early on only to clash and doubt later. They are the one step forward, two steps back types.  If Haru could keep his temper in check, he would be Yano. Handsome, honest, and a bit doofusy, these characters are the lovable dogs of their shows. Nana and Mitty are also very similar. They know who they love, they just don't know if they should.
