If you're looking for anime similar to BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense., you might like these titles.
Lonely thirty-seven-year-old Satoru Mikami is stuck in a dead-end job, unhappy with his mundane life, but after dying at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a fantasy realm...as a slime monster! As he acclimates to his goopy new existence, his exploits with the other monsters set off a chain of events that will change his new world forever!
It's just an amazing Isekai. It has sorta the same goofy style as this one. Just shows what happens when someone overpowered is released out in the wild.
In both series the main charater lacks ill will and sees the best in others. They play in alternative reality that has a video game like characteristics. As story progresses they absorb and learn new skills and while it does make them not-balanced they use it to help their friends improve and fot for selfish ideals.
Both Slime and BOFURI have an MC that starts as a beginner and quickly becomes OP. The MC also doesn't want to cause trouble in either anime (Slime light novel is very different).
The biggest differences were that BOFURI is about a girl playing a video game. Some of the episodes focus on her daily life which lowered the story stakes imo.
Slime is a guy who is reincarnated and now lives in the new world. That makes the stakes feel a bit higher.
Also, Maple gains new powers and abilities in an unusual way. You could say it's a slime-like way.
They are both Isekai's yet try to mix it up and be more interesting. Slime is obviously a harem while Defense is just a hearwarming story about a girl and a shield making friends and destroying people.
The skill aquisition and general atmosphere of the show is very similar, although Slime definitely has a better story + characters.
These both take a light hearted approach to action and battles, making them into contents of fun which is very entertaining as the main chara are OP.
Both series have loveable characters who just wanna enjoy themselves and befriend their enemies to enjoy time together with.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense. are similar in that the Overpowered OP wins all the time and create a peaceful "clan"/town/guild of sorts.
Both anime is light-hearted.
Both MC have devouring skills.
Both mc is cute.
Both MC is respected by everyone.
both shows are about fairly normal people stumbling into a fantasy with tons of weird crazy stuff. they are two of my favorite animes of all time.
Eéeeeeeee Eéeeeeeee Eéeeeeeee is is non existent and they are the same words and a woman in her life is a lot of people are going to cook and the next two or just plain old man and a woman in her life is a lot of people are going to cook and the next two or just plain old man and a woman in her life is a lot of people are going to cook and the next two or just plain old man and a woman in her life is a lot of people are going to cook and ufjfhthjrhtjrhfhr and you

In the world of guns and steel that is Gun Gale Online, LLENN has been a devoted, female solo player. She is obsessed with two things: donning herself entirely in pink and honing her skills with consistent game play. She soon discovers her love for hunting other players (a.k.a. PK), soon to be known as the “Pink Devil.” Meanwhile, LLENN meets a beautiful yet mysterious player, Pitohui, and the two click right away. Doing as she is told by Pitohui, she enters the Squad Jam group battle.
Both are fun light hearted animes about cute girls playing a MMO game, where they meet other players, played in tournament and just have fun playing the game.
I totally agree. At the beginning i didn't expect that the anime will be something that good but boy was i wrong. This just shows how overpowered people can be Maple doesn't take dmg but is slow as a turtle while LLENN is fast as fk and is rly hard for people to even hit her.
Both involve a female lead playing a VR MMO where they max an unorthodox stat and basically break the game. Both involve forming clans, participating in tourneys, and exploiting game mechanics. Bofuri seems to have a much lighter tone (writing this with only a handful of episodes out) but both are pretty colorful and have their cute moments to them.
Both anime have a female gamer that more or less is just having fun gaming via virtual reality.
If you liked this, you would definitely like this! Both feature kawaii (cute) little girls playing VRMMO Games and unwittingly becoming some of the strongest players within it!
The year is 2022, and gamers have lined up on launch day for Sword Art Online, a hotly-anticipated MMORPG that lets players connect to an immersive virtual reality world with special helmets called Nerve Gear. Kirito is one such gamer who's eager to jump back into action, having spent a great deal of time as a beta tester, and quickly becomes friends with newbie warrior Klein. But soon, Sword Art Online's 10,000 players discover that not only are they unable to log out, the only way they can return to their physical bodies is by beating the 100-level tower's final boss - that is, if their HP doesn't drop to zero first, for death in the game means death in the real world. Now, with no one else to turn to, Kirito and the other participants must survive the game as best they can – some forming guilds, others ruthlessly leaving their peers behind, and many tragically falling by the wayside or to the merciless monsters populating the lands...
Both based on a virtual reality world where there are events and monsters to defeat! Fun to watch animes and great stories outside of the action.
Maple is like Kirito with a shield but cute, nice, funny, clueless, and in a buggy VRMMO that lets you log out. Sally is like Asuna dressed in blue but not reduced to fan service and damsel in distress. There is also Kuronu who is Klein but not a noob and with a shield, and Yui (I guess this is a common name for moe character?). Basically Bofuri is the happy MMO version of the one from SAO, and that make sense.
Super Cute Online Game type anime where you get to explore and discover the world together with the characters
Naofumi Iwatani, an uncharismatic Otaku who spends his days on games and manga, suddenly finds himself summoned to a parallel universe! He discovers he is one of four heroes equipped with legendary weapons and tasked with saving the world from its prophesied destruction. As the Shield Hero, the weakest of the heroes, all is not as it seems. Naofumi is soon alone, penniless, and betrayed. With no one to turn to, and nowhere to run, he is left with only his shield. Now, Naofumi must rise to become the legendary Shield Hero and save the world!
Both animes about the hidden potential of being a shield and defensive class hero in MMORPG's
As the title of both anime states though, one is a hero who is forced to be a shield and the othr is abut a noob who only doesn't want to get hurt so uses real world logic and maxes oout her defence.
A create cute anime about a girl who is not a gamer slowly falling in love with games through her own way.
There is a hero with shield... that's pretty much it. No seriously, this is it: story, theme, character, etc. nothing else is really in common. You have a hero with a shield that breaks the world/game because shields are "OP", kinda like playing Skyrim with shield bash or bare fist only. Recommendation because both anime are good.
Kurihara Misato was a little more capable than other high school girls, and as a result, she was always alone and couldn't live her life the way she wanted. When she was reincarnated in another world after a tragic accident, she wanted a chance to make normal friends and live a normal life. So she asked God for one thing... "Give me abilities that are average for that world!" But the abilities God gave her were not "average" at all... And now this girl, who's been reborn in a world where magic is real, struggles to find simple, ordinary happiness!
It's basically the exact same. Both have female protaganists and both take place in another world filled with magic and monsters.
They both have a very op mc, they both take place in a world with magic and monsters and they both have very long titles that make it awkward when someone asks what you’re watching (this last one might just be me)
A young man dies in a car accident and is reborn in a magical new world. The old, yet wise Merlin finds the boy, names him Shin, raises him from infancy, and teaches him combat and powerful magic along the way. 15 years later, Shin is ready to travel the globe on his own, but Merlin forgot to teach him something major—common sense!
If you like BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense, OR Wise Man's Grandchild you will definitly like the other
Because mainly both animes have this comedic nature of the MC having no idea how OP they are. Both MC are in a group that has rediculous people in it but the are the most amazing once.
Watching Maple made me instantly think of Shin. you know how they're so oblivous of how they are and the people around them are just speechless and dumbfounded of the things they do. I highly suggest you watch the other if you like ethier one.
In the land of Naral Island, a land of magic and swords, humans and monsters live together. Once upon a time, there used to be a terrifying Demon Lord, but long, long ago the first Hero defeated the Demon Lord that appeared on Naral Island. The Demon Lord would revive again and again throughout the ages, but every time a Hero would appear to defeat it... Now these young girls attend an Adventurer's Academy to prepare them to defeat the Demon Lord that will one day rise again. This is the beginning of a laid-back fantasy life with no sign of the Demon Lord for these four who hope to become a party of heroes.
Wealthy heiress Katarina Claes is hit in the head with a rock and recovers the memories of her past life. It turns out the world she lives in is the world of the game Fortune Lover, an otome game she was obsessed with in her past life... but she's been cast as the villain character who tries to foil the protagonist's romances! The best ending the game has for Katarina is exile, and the worst, death! She'll have to find a way to avoid triggering the flags of doom, and make her own happy future! The misunderstanding-based screwball love comedy now begins!
Both are shows about a female nerd and a fantasy video game that she, through sheer density and general ignorance, becomes OP at. Well, in My Next Life it's a dating game that's the focus and becoming OP actually means being loved by everyone, but still. If you like one for the feel good comedy where people enjoy each other's company, you should give the other a chance.
With over 20 million players worldwide, Elder Tale is one of the hottest online RPGs. At least, it used to be only a game, until the fateful day that tens of thousands of players became stuck in the virtual world, unable to log out. For these would-be knights, healers and magicians, Elder Tale is no longer a hobby, it’s a reality, complete with tasteless in-game food, revivals upon death, and boring NPC conversations! With no other options than to accept their fates, the analytical Shiroe, perverted-and-proud Naotsugu, tiny and adorable Akatsuki and other new friends must adjust to their new lives in Elder Tale, avoiding player killers and monsters along the way!
Both of these shows feature players who are enjoying the game that they have dived into.
You watch as they make a life in the game and enjoy playing. They make their own guilds and get a guild house.
They collect all the other oddballs in the game into their guild and go on missions together.
While the nature of the game is a little different, they both are about killing monsters, making friends, and staying alive!
One year after the SAO incident, Kirito is approached by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Department, Seijiro Kikuoka, with a request to enter another VRMMO called Gun Gale Online (GGO). Kikuoka informs Kirito that, “Players who are shot by a mysterious avatar with a jet black gun lose their lives even in the real world...” Unconvinced that the virtual world can affect the real world, Kirito logs on to GGO, wandering in an unfamiliar world in order to investigate the “Death Gun” incident. He is joined by a female sniper named Sinon who owns a gigantic “Hecate II” rifle. The two decide to enter the “Bullet of Bullets,” a large tournament to choose the most powerful gunner within the realm of GGO, in hopes of making direct contact with the mysterious avatar behind the “Death Gun”.
