Not only are they both claymation, but they are ridiculously violent and bloody to the point where they're almost hilarious. Your taste will vary but if you enjoyed one then definitely check out the other.

Both of these are shocking and grusome claymation shorts from the twisted mind of Takena Nagao. They are similar not only because of the freaky action scenes, but they both involve women trying to survive and escape from maniacs.

Raven420 Raven420 says...

Both are made by the same person (Takena Nagao). They both have scenes that involve very gory violence and people that are being held against their will.

Thrawn Thrawn says...

Take some characters, ramp up the creepiness to creepy-as-fuck and bake with a crappy pie crust, cook it after your dump the bucket of reds on it. Don't worry about the mess, the blood is all part of it. If you don't mind blood, claymation, some creepy characters and some disturbing stuff, check out either one. If one suits your twisted taste, the other will be right up your alley.

Both horror shorts share the same animation style and are quite violent and bloody. Also both of them were made by the same director. If you liked one, you'd probably like the other one too.

Thrawn Thrawn says...

Aside from both having "bloody" in the title and being bloody, both claymation are about blood, other organic matter, gallons of red clay and not much else. Violent to the point of borderline hilarity, if you can stomach one, the other would match your twisted palette.

ZetsubouKaiji ZetsubouKaiji says...

These are both anime with have a disturbing tone, excessive violence and not much in the way of story. Instead these are both anime that are content with showing creepy visuals with little or no narrative.

Bloody Date is a single episode Claymation short with no dialogue so its visual style is much different from Pupa, but there aren't many short horror anime out there, especially ones that are this violent. Bloody Date does have a story, but it's all told through background details and characters actions, whereas Pupa does try to tell a story, but it jumps around so much its hard to figure out what the hell is going on.

If you're going to watch these titles then go in expecting lots of gore, barebones story and some creepy imagery.

Nicknames Nicknames says...

If you're looking for excessively violent shows with little plot then look no further, both shows fill the bill perfectly. The main difference between both shows is the animation style, since Pupa uses traditional animation while Bloody Date uses claymation, but if that's not a problem for you then go ahead and give Bloody Date a try, likewise Bloody Date fans will like Pupa.
