As everyone says, the premise, characters and animation was great and it definitely was very entertaning to watch, however lacked some depth.

Many episodes were episodic/filler like, which is okay considering it's S1 however upon finishing I realised very little was properly explained. I also found myself getting a bit bored towards the end, so not sure when I'll pick up the second season (which would explain much more of the plot!).

Not bad, not amazing.

The entire history was intriguing and incredible, but the problem was the clarity because almost no one could understand (including me), some parts were confusing.
The part of the animation was incredible! I still remember the fighting parts, really awesome.
The sound was good, like always, hahaha.
Some characters were so unnecessary, but the development of all of them was interesting.

So, I'm new to watching anime.  However, my son has watched for many years and convinced me to watch this show.  The story is interesting enough to keep my attention, the underworld and Leo's backstory could develop into a great plot.  Curious to see what happens next!

Good, but there is a big flaw that prevents it from being great. Also, if you came for Vampires, there really are none, it's mostly in reference format, and there is nothing in the way of fangs, blood drinking, or any of the classical Vampire material in a visual sense. You'll see blood magic being used on occasion, but that's it. That is the tag I came here for originally and was quite disappointed.

So, straight onto the main flaw, which is what will put people off the most. The flow and story is quite disconnected. The first few eps start pretty smooth, the foundation is built, you get a chunk of comedy, and so on. After that though, which is around episode 5, it starts to take a turn. You get what feels like "fillers", except they are still good. The story seems to be near non-existant during these episodes, as it focuses heavily on comedy, and almost plays out in an episode based formula. Tossed in between is another story episode, then towards the end there is an entire episode dedicate to "the past", and focusing on certain characters and how things once were. If you have seen Naruto, it is exactly like those fillers. For the final episode we get a 45 minute episode which goes back to focusing on the story, and wrapping things up (partially) for the season. The Anime itself plays out as a standard, liberation group versus evil scenario, with a bit more depth than that of course.

What becomes clear as you watch, is that there was a clear intention for a season 2. There is a lot more to tell, especially in regards to the characters. The ending also feels very uneventful. Without spoiling anything, it's not your typical "action" filled ending. I wasn't a huge fan of it, and it somehow came off rather boring. This could be due to the fact that the entire Anime itself is not very action filled. They were going for an emotional ending no doubt, but it fails to really convey that feeling as the characters in question didn't get a whole lot of bonding time with the viewer, at least not in a meaningful way.

That said, the experience as a whole was decent though. The comedy is good, and given how it was done, it would have been better had it taken the episode based, monster of the week, comedy approach. Those moments were what stood out, as the story itself is a bit confusing to follow due to the flow of the episodes. The characters were quite cool, but we needed more time with them, more development. By the end of the 12 episodes, your connection with them feels a rather empty still, and again, it clearly seems like it was intended from the start to further carry on into the next season.

One more thing worth mentioning, the music choice is quite "chill". Each episode, they picked a rather obscure song to play at some point that is quite different from your typical Anime soundtrack, at least in the English version. I liked the coloring of the art, it stood out, although at some points it felt a bit more dated than its airing year, although that may have been an intentional choice.

Overall, it's a good watch, but it falls short of being great. The story is a bit all over as the flow is disconected. At times it seems to want to tell a story, and at other times just being an episode based comedy. I never did find any real display of vampires, which is what I came for, so I did leave disappointed on that aspect.
