Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

In 2010, the Britannian Empire enslaved Japan using powerful mecha known as Knightmares; in the aftermath Japan was renamed Area 11, and its people began a hard and terrible existence. Lelouch, a Britannian student living in Area 11, has grown up hating the Empire and everything it stands for. One day, in the middle of a terrorist attack, Lelouch meets a...

They're both great animes with dark themes where the protagonists fight to right an injustice and an almost brother/rival relationship between the two male characters. They have complex characters where motivations are not always clear cut and events can turn the story on its head.

The characters are also similarly somewhat haughty and arrogant (CG - Lelouch, ZnT - Shakespear quoting lolita complex guy) anti heroes. I liked Geass a bit better due to its length but Tempest has a much more satisfying ending imo. Enjoyable animes both.

They're both almost post-apocalyptical anime, where the characters have to fight with everything that stands in the way. Code Geass is a bit more dramatical, things take a curious turn, while Blast of Tempest involves more mystery, magic and the fate of the world is in stake. Both anime show the fight for power and try to bring up the negative part in that and how hard can it be even if it is for the right cause.

Ten years before Shirou Emiya's and Saber's fateful meeting, Japan is the stage for the fourth Holy Grail War. Seven Masters, each with his own dreams, step forward to win the boon of the mystic relic. Into this fray comes Kiritsugu Emiya, the enigmatic "Mage Killer" who wants to use the Grail to make a better world. Can he, paired with the...

1. Magic exists in both worlds, but only certain people can utilise it. The magic in both anime also require some form of sacrifice before the magician can equip it (i.e., tools that civilisation use in Zetsuen no Tempest, magical power in Fate/Zero)

2.  The two main male protagonists in both anime seek completely different goals. However, in Zetsuen no Tempest, the two protagonists are friends. Also, all four characters from the respective anime are really intelligent.

3. A lot of planning and plotting are involved in both anime. All the planning and execution are really intriguing and entertaining.

If you like world-encompassing magical systems, opposing factions, and intense competition & emotional interaction between characters AND you liked either Fate/Zero or Blast of Tempest, you would probably also enjoy the other!

Very similar animes in many aspects.

The relationship between the main characters is similar in both anime because they go very far for each other. There are parallels in the relationship between both main characters in both animes. Also, both have very similar settings. They both give a simialr feel and if you appreciate one you will like the other as well.

Regardless both are great watches and I recommend watching both of them!

Both animes are superb! Blast of Tempest ends with just one season but Seraph is to be continued in season two which will be aired earliest October 2015.

Blast of Tempest the manga was indeed thrilling, but you may find the anime more entertaining because you can see the action and feel the emotion... unless you've been reading manga for a while and believe that it would be just as good.

Seraph of the End's manga was said to be better than the anime, but that doesn't make the anime bad at all. Perhaps the characters seem a little different and the plot converted slightly, but nevertheless was it a bad anime.

If you loved one, you'll surely love the other just as much but may have a small opinion in favouritism.
