Fairy Tail

Lucy is a seventeen-year-old mage with the power to summon stellar spirits, but what she really wants to do is join a guild - and not just any guild. She has her eyes set on Fairy Tail, a notoriously reckless and outrageous group of magic users who are likely to be drunk or destroying buildings and towns in the process of completing a job! While in town one day Lucy meets a perpetually-seasick boy named Natsu who, through a series of events, reveals to her that he's none other than the fire-eating mage Salamander of Fairy Tail! Lucy is finally able to join Fairy Tail and quickly begins to take on odd jobs with Natsu and his gang for fame and profit. Along with her fiery friend, Happy the flying cat, Natsu's archrival Gray and their overseer the invincible and beautiful Erza, Lucy sets forth for epic adventures that leave an epic amount of destruction in their wake. Reasons you might like Fairy Tail...

PurpleCatAngel PurpleCatAngel says...

Like Black Clover, Fairy Tail focuses on magic and just like Natsu, Asta is a hot-head who wants to be the most powerful being in the kingdom.

legendary1panda legendary1panda says...

I agree because the world in which the two storys live in are both dependent of magic/magic users.

StarsMine StarsMine says...

Both are mediocre magical shonenes. but Fairy Tail has charm to make up for it and have fun, while black Clover has none.

DanielT99 DanielT99 says...

They're fun... I guess?

I mean both have mystical and/or fantasy components/elements in them, so there's that.

And they have interesting characters and plot too.

So yeah, go check them out.

Oblithian Oblithian says...

It's basically the story of One Piece with the dynamics and magic of Fairy Tail. The main character is what you might get combining Natsu and Naruto, His team is basically the Fairy Tail guild and it's leader is practically Laxus with black hair and no lightning. Fairy Tail is like Black clover in some character similarities, the general mood, and interpersonal dynamics. Personally, Fairy Tail is funnier, has more compelling arcs (...sometimes) and faster than Black Clover to get into.

Theano Theano says...

I agree that this anime is similiar to

Magi ... Fairy tail .. and Naruto

Magi at dungeons ch.11 in Manga

Fairy tail of course 'cause of magic

Naruto at the thing which called magic knights exam or test

alp2va alp2va says...

Both are set in worlds where magic is the dominant force and mages are banded together into guilds. Natsu and Asta are also fairly similar in that they are both hot-headed and determined. Both shows are just a ton of Shounen fun!

Magicknight94 Magicknight94 says...

The most obvious similar show. The protagonists are in destructive, infamous but well-intended magic guids

Lucysky Lucysky says...

Well the magic is pretty much the same and nastsu and asta are both pretty similar characters.

ChronicNomad ChronicNomad says...

Really similar magic vibes, protagonists equally ridiculous (in a good way). Guilds and Squads have a similar feel. Black Clover is slightly more goal-oriented where Fairy Tail focuses largely on interpersonal bonds, but both have some of each.

Jyoti1508 Jyoti1508 says...

I would recommend to watch Fairy tail, Naruto , boruto , Bleach , hunterXhunter.

These are magic related Anime with interesting stories ..

I love both!! Both anime's are so so good! Highly recomend. Also, I ship Nalu!!!!!!! Not to mention the story line for both are really well done. Although, they are different on some aspect they have completely different plots and etc. So I highly reccomend you give both a try.

They're both about magic and are amazing

They both show depict how children suffer and not judge others . They both show how to fight for what you believe in

How to treat everyone with respect and never let anyone disrespect or bully another no matter if you like the person being bullied

Lysq Lysq says...

I agree totally. They both involved magic, and they both have lots of problems that have to be solved or it is the end for them. Especially since they are fighting in both. These stories both tell about friendship and love in my opinion and I am happy I found these.

Lastdrag276 Lastdrag276 says...

Both main characters are dumbass' who refuse to lose and fight those who insult or harm their family in any way. And it helps that then and their magic are just crazy 😈😂

Naiu Naiu says...

It both plays in a world of magics. The feeling of friends are like family and the protagonists are very similar. The story is quiet different though, which excludes the feeling that you are watching the same Anime.

TheMeebCrew TheMeebCrew says...

Fantasy magic show with a badass group of people who use unique magic as the main protagonists.

KarKrab KarKrab says...

The main character from Black Clover (Asta) is much like Natsu, they both are explosive and reckless, though they're both really fun characters to have around.

Both of the animes have a world where things revolve around magic, whether it's by a guild and taking jobs or by trying to become the Wizard King.

ThisGirlLovesAnime ThisGirlLovesAnime says...

Both anime's have an MC who is really stupid and acts a bit childish but is still really strong.

They both involve  magic and have guild or like groups that band together and then they both go on quests to solve some sorta overlying problem

Shywolf Shywolf says...

Both Black Clover and Fairy Tail did what was right always and cared about friendship, family and the bonds that make them and they helped the weak when being attacked by the strong, rich, powerful or even the evil.

Mountains Mountains says...

Both anime are really great and the plot line doesnt move around too much. They both have to do with magic and strong people who were made outsiders because of their faction

devihellios devihellios says...

Both have pretty dumb MC's that use "the power of teamwork and friendship" to get past their obstacles. It's fun to laugh at how dumb some of the character's remarks are.

Gorilaman78 Gorilaman78 says...

Both have Loveable characters, Fantasy elements and flashy magic/Fight scenes and theyre both long-ish because black clover currently has 122 episodes and fairy tail has 328 episodes and 2 movies

ares299 ares299 says...

As a starter of these shows are related to magic. There is quite a lot of factor which make them same. The one I love is that in both these anime, we have sense of competition between the two main characters of the story. Not to mentioned both Natsu and Asta are stubborn and funny in a way I like to see a character in anime. Also there a a lot of badass characters we can compare like Luck and Gazeel, both love to fight and are always looking for openings for that.

DangoAnime11 DangoAnime11 says...

Both have interesting magic to look at. Also, Black Clover starts off kind of opposite to Fairy Tail. The Black Bulls are considered the worst magic knights and work their way up to be one of the best.

OkamiHime95 OkamiHime95 says...

Both of them have very similar elements, (great music, adventure, suspense, and some humor here and there, for some examples) and Natsu & Yuno are quite similar to each other as well, in the fact that they fight for what they believe in.

Shampoliny Shampoliny says...

Theres alot of similarity in the way the story is built up in each episodes and in the way the episodes ends.

azalea1022 azalea1022 says...

AnimePixel AnimePixel says...

In both animes, the characters place their friends and comrades above all else. They support each other and go on adventures, take on battles, and meet new people. Every character becomes stronger as the story progresses and also fight stronger foes. Both animes are in a world where people use their own specific type of magic. In Fairy Tail, people form what they call magic guilds that are each led by a guild master, but in Black Clover, the people that protect the kingdom form magic knight teams that are each led by a captain. Both the guild/the team has people that crash the guildhall/base, do whatever they want and are free to enjoy life to the fullest. Both animes do involve demons and magical creatures like say dragons. Well, you don't get elves in Fairy Tail, but at least you get flying cats. I recommend both ways because they are very similar but also different in their own way. All in all, people who love action, adventure, travel, and suspension should watch these animes.

BrattyFangirl BrattyFangirl says...

One word: Friendship.

Both animes have a theme of power from friendship. The friends you make become family.

AssistBot AssistBot says...

Both MC have one goal and that is to train hard and become the strongest to protect everyone. But this will not be simple because they will be fighting all the time enemies to protect themselves, friends and everyone else. There will be comrades/friends that they will support the MC on his normal fighting moments but also on his hardest moments and vise versa.

Musicgirl2379 Musicgirl2379 says...

Both are about magic and friendship. The magic knights are pretty similar to the magic guilds in fairy tail as well.

Beth0410 Beth0410 says...

Both of these are based on magic powers with both of the main characters being more reckless but getting stronger to be able to protect those close to them.

walidhouasnia walidhouasnia says...

If you like Black clover im pretty sure that you will like Fairy Tail. The two are similar anime with great story and great animations. I'm a big fan of the those two and I really recommand them.

Chocodude Chocodude says...

Both similar series about a guild which have strong bonds with one another.  Each series has a strong theme of magic, where things like demons and monsters are both available.

The differences are that Black Clover has a large theme on class diversity and the main character doesn't have magic.

Fairy Tail is a lot longer of a series although unlike most long series, most of their arcs are rather good.

Dragon76o3 Dragon76o3 says...

They feel the same and give off the same vibe both really good.

anaok anaok says...

They are soo similar. In both shows, the main characters are in groups of magic users, but the particular group they are in are strong and capable but unruly compared to other groups. The main character in both shows is clumsy muscle heads with a snooty side character female best friend. In both shows the mcs go on journeys to grow their knowledge and magic while fighting with their friends. There are other similarities as well. I prefer black clover because it has newer and better animation and a different plot altogether. They are both worth the watch!

Josle Josle says...

These two animes are similar in some ways. Its very guild/team focused where the anime shows of a group of people. So if you like any of these two I can almost guarantee that you will like the other

Naruto and black clover are very similar, In black clover, the main character Asta doesn't have any magic powers unlike everyone else. Asta's dream is to become the wizard king which is like the Hokage, His rival is Yuno. Yuno is his foster brother from the orphanage they both came from and a powerful person, Yuno is chosen to be on a team with the golden dawns, A team which only royalty and noble are usually on. Asta gets chosen to be on the Black bulls squad which is among the worse of the nine squads,

In Naruto, The main character Naruto is a jinchuriki. A jinchuriki is a human vessel that holds one of the nine-tailed beasts inside of them, Naruto holds the strongest beast, The nine tails Kurama. Naruto doesn't have parents and is an outcast to the village due to the beast inside him who attacked the village, Naruto has failed the academy three times but still keeps trying. Naruto never gives up in the story because his dream is to become the Hokage and surpass all the previous ones, The Hokage is the leader of the village.

Main Character Similiarities:

  • Main male characters are looked down on by others.
  • Main male character has feelings for someone that are unrequited.
  • 2 main male characters appear to be opposites: one "gifted", and one "mess-up".
  • Girls gravitate towards the gifted main male m.c. while the "problem child" seems to repel them.

World Similarities:

  • The respecive worlds are composed of people who can use certain abilities and those who can't.
  • The abilities are influenced by heredity and clans are generally viewed as royalty.
  • Those without the abilites are looked down on by those who can.

OkamiHime95 OkamiHime95 says...

Both series are pretty similar to each other, and both the MC's (Naruto & Yuno) would do anything for their friends, and they don't give up on their dreams. Both shows have a lot of episodes if you're looking for something long, and they both have great music to boot.

darkovl darkovl says...

Black clover is basically a rip off of naruto with a little magic involved. Naruto is better than black clover as it's story has more depth than being the dream of two children wanting to be a leader. Naruto has dark and sad stories that captivate the audience much more than black clover.

nochangehere nochangehere says...

Naruto is the blueprint for Black Clover. It's your typical "protagonist wants to be the number 1 ___" shonen. You've got the blond haired excited MC, his dark-haired edgy rival, the cringy love interest that tags along and the mentor that's cooler than pretty much everyone else in the show. Oh, and both of them are demon-possessed outcasts. Honestly, aside from the nuances of Black Clover (obviously it's got cleaner animation since it's so new) and some of it's super weird side characters (it's more like One Piece) they're basically the same

When I was watching Black Clover I couldn’t help but notice the similarities With Naruto. They have similar tropes; The main characters come from a similar background one of them is serious and skilled while the other is the underdog and is considered “weaK”, a girl who has the ability to become powerful but lacks training and confidence, a teacher that is tough on his students and is willing to protect his students, a ruler who is friendly and stronger, there is a group of bad people within the nation, etc.

i have watched both anime and i think black clover is a refined version of naruto and the character astais better than naruto yeah in the start black clover will beboring but as you watch the anime the story and plot starts to grow just give bc a try

Beth0410 Beth0410 says...

Both of the main characters were looked down on because of something they had (Naruto) or did not have (Black Clover). They did not let that stop them from training and neither ever gives up. Also have strong rivals they knew since they were young.

Badmood Badmood says...

When I started watching Black Clover all I could think was, damn they're so similar. I know most shonen series are alike but just really felt the connection between these two, especially the main characters and the ''close friend is my rival'' thing. Loved both of them as well :)

My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia

Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not going to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies. Now, the only thing standing between him and his first class is the academy’s formidable entrance exam—nothing a little private tutoring from the world’s mightiest hero can’t solve.

wyknot wyknot says...

There are a few similarities between the shows, though there are also differences. In Black Clover, the MC is an orphan, unlike Izuku, who was raised in the church where he was found alongside another boy of the same age at infanthood. In the world of Black Clover, everyone has magic, and magic is everything. However, Asta, the MC, is the only person in the entire kingdom, possibly the world, with no magic to speak of what so ever. He has trained his body every of the fifteen years he's been alive so that he can fulfill his dream of becoming a magic knight, the protectors of the realm, and becoming Wizard King, the most powerful wizard in the kingdom. Ring any bells? Whats more, the boy who was discovered with Asta by the church is a boy named Yuno who also aspires to become the Wizard King, and has been gifted with incredibly powerful magic. Once a year, ever 15-year-old in the kingdom is given a grimoire, a magical book that records spells and enhances the user's magical powers. Asta's rival, Yuno, is given an incredibly rare, powerful, and legendary grimoire while Asta, hoping that his grimoire will finally allow him to use magic is instead gifted with a strange and unknown power that carries him through the Magic Nights Exams and into knighthood. However, his adventures have only just begone and trouble is stirring deep within the Kingdom. To me, this show is both exremely similar to MHA, and yet unique as well.

oZEROo oZEROo says...

I can see a strong parallel between these two shows. Both starts off with teenage boys who have no powers. Both of these boys have goals that at first seem unachievable. Then they both miraculously obtain an ability that sets them apart from everyone else. There are also other minor details such as rivaly between childhood friends and they both have entrance examinations. Also, Izuku and Asta both possess great determination. Both of them do not let their weaknesses hold them back. They continue to fight despite the fact that the odds are against them.

youngDemon youngDemon says...

Both stories are contemperary examples of the classic shonen formula, a Kid with asperations to be something start as nothing and gain sudden skills to be who the aspire to become. facing challenges, making friends and finding mentors allow this boys to grow and develop thier skills. high-octane Action battles and interesting powers create a vast world toact as a backdrop to lives of thes boys.

KarKrab KarKrab says...

Like My Hero Academia, Black Clover also has a main character who starts off with no magic. Later though, Asta (like Midorya) receives magic.

Both of these characters have been hurt and underlooked throughout their childhood for not having magic, like the majority of the population should.

Midorya and Asta along with other characters from each show all strive to be the Wizard King// Number 1 hero.

These are both really good animes, and I recommend that you watch the other if you haven't.

kels31717 kels31717 says...

Both animes are about a boy growing up constantly being bullied or judged. In spite of that, they grew using they're own determination. Eventually, they both come across a life-changing situation in their live's that cause them to become even stronger and more powerful.

opughku opughku says...

The two are very similar with each of the protagonists Asta and Izuku not having some abiliy that most of the population has and they gain that ability from a unheard way ( Izuku being All mights hair Asta being the 5 leaf grimoire) and finding a way to get somthing that will help them along the way to achive their goal (Asta being apart of the magic knights Izuku getting into U.A) with sombodys help ( Asta being Captain Yami Izuku being All Might) they also have a childhood friend that has the same or a smilar goal to them ( Asta being Yuno and Izuku being Bakugo) another key similarity is that the protaganists bolth have good friends helping them along the way

Westerburglar Westerburglar says...

They both feature (main) characters who would do anything to reach their goal. Despite having their fair share of disadvantages (Asta who cant use magic and isnt a noble and Izuku who was born without a quirk), they work towards what they believe in and will never give up.

Both anime have a useless protagonist with an impossible dream from where they are. Princess Elizabeth desperately seeks their aid, but the leader of her would-be saviors turns out to be an undersized pervert with a broken blade and a talking pig! They are soon joined by a jealous giant, a fussy fairy, and an immortal bandit pining over his lost love. Can these people really be the legendary heroes she's looking for?

Reasons you might like The Seven Deadly Sins...

The protagonist is tiny yet super buff and over powered. Both take place in a similar setting, with knights and castles and magic.

The main characters are half demons. They have half demon forms. Of course in the seven deadly sins, the main character is more over powered, but both are about a group of friends that fit together who although many thought they cause trouble, they are the true saviors of there kingdoms.

One Piece

One Piece

Long ago the infamous Gol D. Roger was the strongest and most powerful pirate on the seas. As he was about to be executed he revealed that he hid all of his wealth, including the legendary treasure known as One Piece, on an island at the end of the Grand Line - a treacherous and truly unpredictable sea. Monkey D. Luffy is a spirited, energetic and somewhat dim-witted young man with a very big dream: to find One Piece and become the Pirate King! However Luffy is no ordinary boy, as when he was younger he ate one of the Devil's Fruits and gained its power to become a Rubber Man. Now in this grand age of pirates Luffy sets out to gather a crew and sail to the most dangerous sea in the world so that he can fulfill his dream... and maybe even his appetite!

If you think it's a good recommendation for Fairy Tail, it's an even better one from Black Clover. While the setting is very different, the premise of climbing to the top to be the best (the king specifically) is exactly the same ...but with magic and a friendly nemesis. Also, One Piece has a better rating.
