Things change one day when Kazuya wanders to the top of the library and discovers a lush botanical garden, and a beautiful, small, blonde-haired girl named Victorique who rarely leaves the building and is fascinated by unsolved mysteries. Mystery anime where the solver of the cases is a smart and adorable/beautiful....but eccentirc girl. Part of both the shows is a normal 'dectective cracks mysteries vibe' with the unconvering of the genius girl's past.

The MC in both these shows is a honest boy that has a normal sense of morality and acts like a sort of assistant to the dectective girl, though begrudingly (though we all know he's in love with her).

Once of the main differences would be time the stories is set, Gosick being more in the past, while Sakurako is in the present.

A lot of similarities ranging from genre to character tropes:

  • Female detective/mystery solver
  • Mysteries
  • Weird personality, almost whimsical
  • Actually kind on the inside
  • Male assistant, quite bland and generic
  • Intriguing and suspenseful cases

Both anime are very focused on mystery. Although Beautiful Bones focuses more on logic and reason, Ghost Hunt focuses more on the supernatural - but they both deal with death in a very similar way. They're both told in an episodic fashion, with a main focus and their "sidekick" and a hand full of side characters that help them out. They both have a very similar feel and I like both of these anime very much (although as of now, there's only 10 episodes of Beautiful Bones). Their art is very nice (especially Ghost Hunt for the time it was made) and the music scores are also nice. Nothing outstanding on either end but it's nice to watch. Overall, these two anime have very similar feelings and structures to them and approaches to their elements. They both deal with death and the relationships between the characters. If you like one of them, I'm sure you'd like the other very much too.

I've already recommended Beautiful Bones, however in my opinion, this series is also fantastic. You will love Ghost Hunt because it includes content very similar to Beautiful Bones where a female and a male investigate something beyond comprehensive, if that's the right expression in this case ... I loved them all.

They both have that episodic element about it and although Beautiful Bones has a more realistic approach, XXXHOLiC and Beautiful Bones do have that same feel about it. I enjoy both anime very much, and do believe that if you like one, you'd like the other too.The both also have the "high school boy" helping and assisting the "older woman" trope so the relationship in that sense is also similar, although Beautiful Bones' male protagonist is less eccentric than XXXHOLiC's.

The shows have the same feel to them, despite one being quite grounded and the other being quite fantastical. A lot of that similarity comes from the relationships between the teenaged male protagonists and the older female protagonists who..."mentor" them. Which, if you like the interactions of the one pair, you will absolutely like the interactions of the other.

Both has an element of investigation and mystery, although I think there's a lot more to come from Bungou. Sakurako-san is a really cute character though and I really like her depth. That said, Bungou has a lot of characters with depth (yet to be completely explored...so wait for season 2 :P ).

I think the art is similarly nice in both, but I do appreciate the outbursts of humour in Bungou which I think is generally absent from Beautiful Bones (understandably).

Enjoy ^.^

Both Anime are truly amazing. Bungou is similar to Beautiful Bones with it's abnormal investigation methods which are very catchy in both series. Although Beautiful Bones isn't close to supernatural category, I still think that those who watched both would agree that they are different though similalry amazing.

PSYCHO-PASS

PSYCHO-PASS

It dictates which job fields citizens should go into based on aptitude tests, and can even read each resident's mental state and predict which ones are likely to commit crimes in the future. Fresh from exams, Akane Tsunemori is beginning her career as an Inspector, a specialized police officer who works to apprehend these latent criminals and stop crimes before they happen. But not all that get caught are eliminated or jailed, some join the police force as Enforcers to provide insight into criminals’ minds, and Akane is warned not to get too close to them, as they're considered little more than hunting dogs. Though skeptical of this advice, and Sibyl's judgement, Akane is determined to work together with her Enforcers to protect the peace of her city and its inhabitants.

Both of these anime revolve around strong, smart female characters that don't 100% fit in to the world around them. These animes are also both crime dramas where unusual cases are solved via unusual methods. Beautiful Bones does lack the futuristic dystopia twist, but if the crime-solving aspect and main character were what you enjoyed from Psycho-Pass, you'll probably enjoy Beautiful Bones as well.

While the protagonists in these two shows have different jobs, they do have something in common and that's how the two of them spend their time investigating murders. In Ace Attorney, you investigate the murders to participate in the court trials that will give the criminal their sentence, while in Beautiful Bones it is to discover the truth behind a particular incident.

Ace Attorney is a bit more light-hearted than Beautiful Bones, but if you enjoy characters investigations and characters coming up with deductions and solving mysteries, you will like both of these shows.

While Beautiful Bones is more of a detective series with the two protagonists solving deaths from bones, Monogatari (series), is a fantasy series with the protaganist seeking solutions to appearances of spirits and vampires that are afflicting his (high)schoool class mates.  It is execellently done and well worth watching.
