With the introduction of an ultra-advanced AI that surpasses human intelligence, beings that mankind is yet to fully comprehend made from materials far too advanced for human technology begin coming into being. Lacia, an hIE equipped with a black coffin-shaped device, is one of these. In boy-meets-girl fashion, 17-year-old Arato Endo has a fateful encounter with the artificial Lacia.
This anime I found to have some merit. The story is set during the late 21st century. The two main characters, Arato Endo (a 17-year-old with a nieve view of the world) and Lacia (a super-intelligent AI). It is your standard boy meets android, boy has feelings for said android, boy and android have to save the world. The story has it's moments of action, teenaged mixed feelings, and nefarious people who work behind the scenes. One of that points I thought was interesting was the concept of singularity. That is when AI's will have higher intelligence than humans. Most of the story deals with this point. Is it beneficial for AI's to be government or be involved in corporate decisions? How do humans fit in when hIE's take over most menial jobs? This made this show watchable. The animation and sound were standard. I found the story in the beginning very choppy. New characters are introduced very quickly and you really don't know who is good or bad, who is on you's side. It turns out as in life everyone has there own motives, which at times makes this one hard to keep with. If you like sci-fi you might like this.
This anime is more for the plot and the messages it presents and it delivers well on that front. However, the characters are very typical anime tropes like the noble, trusting, dumb MC and friends with shady activities although they stay true to their beliefs but change a little by the end. The animation is very nice and smooth with decent music/sounds if a bit lacking in quantity. It can be a bit tough to follow with the meanings and the effects it could have. Also depending on which platform you watch it on it can be really annoying to keep track as there are quite a few intermission eps that appear as a recap as well as the ending being considered a seperate anime is just frankly pointless. Also the ending is well done if a bit cliche and maybe worth watching the series just for it.
There is no discussion yet for this series.
