A girl goes out to space to do her best in what she wants to do. Whilst not similar in story, they do remind me of each other.

These two feel extremely simular. Both in Battle Athletes and in Stellvia there is a special prep school where girls play the main part of the story. (more in battle athletes though) In both animes there is a lot of competition between the top ranked students giving a lot of tension and room for good character development. Not to forget that both take place in space. Very very alike despite being classic vs unknown anime.

Battle Athletes and Stellvia both center around a young girl who is admitted into an academy.  While one is a sports academy and one is a flight academy, they are both set in space and the competition level is very high.

Both (weak) main characters reminded me a lot of each other. While finding a lot of hardships they are overly kind. Yet, they put those feelings aside to do what they want: become the best in their game.

Kaleido Star

If you love to see the fight of the underdog, even though you know good will prevail in the end then these two shows are perfect for you. Not completely family friendly, there are the occasional naughty jokes that will suit them to teens and older, however both Kaleido and Battle Athletes are shows that can be enjoyed by a wide audience.

Both shows feature older animation techniques, but the focus remains firmly on story. The struggle of the main protagonist in both Battle Athletes and CMB is very similar - you know that they are going to overcome their adversaries, but you'll have a whale of a time watching them do it :)

Kimito Kagurazaka is a extraordinarily average. Average grades, average abilities, average looks, average love life (nonexistent). That is, until one day he's abducted by a mysterious organization and forced to enroll a super secret, super elite academy for the richest, classiest, elitest of the elite young ladies. Turns out Kimito has been chosen as a “commoner sample” to better help the isolated and naïve girls cope with entering into normal society. But there's a catch—Kimito isn't allowed to show any romantic or sexual interest in the girls, lest he face gruesome repercussions. Can this commoner enter the secret world of high society?

Infinite Stratos

Infinite Stratos

The development of the Infinite Stratos powered exoskeleton changed the world’s balance of power. While the distribution of IS systems has created peace, only women have been able to pilot them. So when Ichika Orimura is discovered to be the first male with the ability to control an IS, whatever plans he had for his future are tossed out the window even as he’s thrown to the wolves and enrolled at the otherwise entirely female Infinite Stratos Academy by order of the Japanese government!

Infinite Stratos 2

Infinite Stratos 2

Despite being the only male capable of piloting an Infinite Stratos, Ichika has finally settled in to life at Infinite Stratos Academy. Unfortunately, living in a school full of competitive girls with giant robots has more hazards than perks as the fight for Ichika’s affections continues. And it’s not long before a new enemy appears- one with a very unexpected tie to Ichika and a plot to steal the Byakushi for its own evil purposes!
