Blood, sweat, and a big ass sword. The characters of Berserk, like Bastard, are very deep and well-developed. Action-packed episodes will have you coming back for more. If you liked Bastard, check out Berserk!
Berserk is a much more serious, much darker version of Bastard! While Gatts in Berserk is much more human, he is just as powerful a warrior, and he's not a douche like Dark Schneider!
Nothing like having all the firepower centered around a single individual. While in Bastard, it's a poweful wizard, and in Berserk, a powerful warrior, it's still fun to watch them tear into the masses. Note that Berserk is considerably darker and more violent than Bastard though.
Fighting.... Blood... is that what you want? You should really check out Berserk. I would say Bastard is abit of a parody on Berserk. Cause Bastard i s not really serious, but Berserk is. I really enjoyed both of the shows and I think they have alot in common. So be sure to check it out
With strangely unpleasent, but likeable main characters, gritty animation, and lots and lots of blood, it is not wonder what is a like in these two. You will find similar dark atmosphere and edgy mood that drives the plot forward.
If you did like Bastard then you should see Berserk. Berserk is very much alike Bastard it just that Berserk is more serious. both got this mucels dudes that runs around an fights.
These two shows, Bastard!! and Berserk, are an excellent pair of Medieval-style animes. Swords and Wizards, demons and grand castles. There are loads of action and violence in both. But Berserk is a bit longer, with a more involved plot, and excellent character development. Berserk holds one of my highest recommendations to any anime fan.
Both set in the same time period, both contain bloody goryness. The only difference is that in Berserk it happens with a sword, in Bastard with magic. If you liked this one, you have to see the other!
Both series have the same kind of dark mideval feeling to them. Knights battle it out in great epic war campanges and characters haveing set their aims and dreams high in life.
Bastard has a lot more ecchiness/random comedy bits thrown in, but both have a very similar feel (and even similar look, for some characters). Medevil swordsmanship, monsters, maidens, the whole 9 yards.
Both of these anime seem like they were made for the same people. They have similar settings and share a common atmosphere and animation style. Both are very violent and adult oriented. Both share an importance on character relation. Bastard!! however is a bit more comedic and Berserk is a little bit more serious. Oh also, worst of all, neither series was completed... so if you don't want to feel left hanging, you'll have to take a look at the mangas.
Swords.. Check, Medieval setting... Check, Blood and Death... Check, Main characters that can wipe the floor with anything that is placed in front of them and still look cool... Very much check. Along with this they both have a simialr feel in why the fights are run along with the simliarities in settings. Bastard is the comic little brother in sense of Berserk and worth watch if you have just finished the end of the Berserk series and want a pick me up
They are very similar in several aspects. To be honest I didn't get very far in either of them but from what I saw, I didn't like them for the same reasons. The art style, the senseless gore, etc. If you liked one of them, I'm pretty sure you've watched/should watch the other.
If you enjoyed Bastard, you'll adore Berserk since they have a very similar world concept, fantasy archetypes, and an unbridled macho approach. Moreover, their stories are surprisingly good despite how braindead their animation and premise makes them seem. Keep in mind, though, Berserk is far more serious and epic, whilst Bastard feels like an introduction to what is a spoofy but still plot-driven franchise.
If you enjoyed the over the top violence and overpowered lead in Bastard!!, you'll definitely like Berserk. Each series is very dark and have borderline ridiculous voilence.
Meet Lina Inverse, a mighty sorceress who fights evil in the name of... greed, gluttony and black magic?! When she meets Gourry, a swordsman whose skill with the blade is rivaled only by his stupidity, Zelgadis, a grumpy sorceror who's been turned into a golem, and Rezo, a priest known for his benevolence (with a dark secret), you know her adventures are just beginning!

Combine the humor, magic, and swordfighting you've got in Bastard, remove any trace of seriousness - oh, and make the major characters women - and you've got Slayers. It's a bit more light-hearted than Bastard, and stresses the comedy aspects. Fits squarely in the swords & sorcery genre with a good dose of humor.
A loud mouth feared extremely powerful magician (that was a mouthful) battling forces of evil. Bastard! has much more gore, but the concept is the same.
As a D&D player, I can't help but be reminded of some of my own gaming sessions while watching both Bastard!! and Slayers. The humor, the battles, the occasional crazy ability, all are present in both series. While Bastard!! is darker and occasionally more serious than Slayers you should be sure to enjoy one if you found yourself laughing along with the other.
Both set in "ye olde times", Bastard!! and Slayers are a role players wet dream. Swordsmen, Magicians and summoners all play a significant part in each tale, though don't expect anything too serious from either series!
Action, adventure and a sprinkling of ecchi make these both two very popular and likable series.
These series both combine swordfighting, magic, superpowerful legendary type characters, and an ability to realize how over the top they are and make fun of this fact.

In a similar time period as Bastard!, much more serious, and less humorous. If you're looking for a step between the seriousness of Berserk and Bastard!, Lodoss War is probably it.
Both of these series are set into a midieval fantasy world where there are evil demons and magic and sorcery, so if you liked one, you would really like the other. Lodoss War is a little more epic however and the quest is a lot longer.
If you liked Bastard!!, Record of Lodoss War is right down your alley. Brave knights, elves, sorcerers, dragons, and a host of action sequences await you in this excellent Medieval style anime. The art style of Record of Lodoss War is a beauty to behold.
The similarities are clear in the settings of both anime: Dungeons and dragons-style fantasy with dark gods waiting to be resurrected. Bastard!! focusses more on action and is slightly comedic whereas Record Of Lodoss War is much more serious and has a superior storyline. The similar nature and artwork of both shows means that if you like one, you should try the other.

Ninja Scroll is a nice one-shot tape with lots of fighting. Bastard! is funnier, but Ninja Scroll is about 10 times better in the fighting and gore departments
Just like Bastard!!, Ninja Scroll presents a grand, diverse team of villains hell-bent on taking over the world. The action and gore is excellent, and if you liked Bastard!!, Ninja Scroll just might be for you.
Sex, violence, and swords.. what more could anyone want? Exactly why you'd like Bastard! and Ninja Scroll. Bastard! definitely is a lot more cheesy/campy, with a lot more random sex.. while Ninja Scroll is more serious, with wacky monsters, drama, and extreme violence.
Ninja Scroll and Bastard are very alike. They both have the same violent nature, involve topics like sex and gore, and have a similar time setting.
In present day England, a war is being fought. The average citizen does not notice, but vampires are running rampant among the populace, and it's up to the Hellsing organization to contain the bloodsucker threat, using even their own weapons against them. Überpowerful, that's the only word that can describe both evil heros in these series. I wouldn't mess with these guys, they might cut you into thousands of pieces, or worse...
YES CLASH OF THE EGO ANIMES, like violence? like dames? also like super strong powers that isnt dbz. well then you would like this anime, hellsing as well as bastard both share the super powerful male figures with a loving lady that wont admit it by them.
Bastard!! is more comical than Hellsing, but if you enjoy a lead character who is beyond badass and strong beyond any reason, you will enjoy both of these shows. And they also have in common, of course, the endless amounts of enemies who actually think they stand a chance against these rather awkward heroes (who both are in essence "evil", but seem to primarily work for good).
As the island of Lodoss braces against a new assault by the Marmo and their new allies, the fate of the land falls into the hands of Spark, an inexperienced young knight. As aging legends Ashram, Kashew, Parn and Deedlit begin to fade, a new generation of heroes will have to arise to keep Lodoss from being torn apart by conflict.

If you liked Bastard!!, then you must see Record of Lodoss War (TV). This Medieval style anime is loaded with action, and a host of fantasy characters and beasts.
Both of these series are set into a midieval fantasy world where there are evil demons and magic and sorcery, so if you liked one, you would really like the other. Lodoss War is a little more epic however and the quest is a lot longer.

Meet Chivas Scotch: a sorcerer with a style all his own. The opposite of benevolent and honorable, he's an arrogant and domineering misogynist who travels the lands with his (mostly female) servants, searching for opportunities to indulge his greed and his desire for female flesh. But when he comes across a scheme by a mad wizard to ressurrect an ancient god of darkness, all hell breaks loose as Chivas suddenly finds himself the lesser of two evils!

Both Sorcerer on the Rocks and Bastard deal with a lecherous and highly powerful wizard who is a lot more concerned with his own ambitions than what is 'right' or 'good,' and only decides to fight evil in the show because they pissed him off on a personal level. Both also contain a good amount of ecchi and comedy.
Like extremely arrogant and powerful sorcerers, and ecchi? Both Bastard and Sorcerer On The Rocks have that and are lots of fun. Sorcerer On The Rocks is a bit shorter, but demon fights and evil sorcerers are just as present in Bastard!! No doubt that both will give enjoyment to someone who liked either one of them.
Both contain badass arrogant sorcerors, calamity, women, and a dash of comedy. Both "heroes" do not fit a typical hero mold, but instead do what benefits them. While Sorcerer On the Rocks is shorter, they both have their fair share of evil, demons, fights, ecchi, and comedy.
In a dark version of the future, the world is protected by three guardians: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The guardian of Silver is none other than Lemnear, a silver-haired beauty who is out for revenge for the death of her parents at the hand of an evil mage. With the lord of all evil on her tail, her body at risk of becoming one of many in a slave trader's harem, and Bronze being kidnapped, Lemnear has her work cut out for her...

While both have a high fantasy setting straight from a D&D rulebook with gratuitous ecchi thrown in, Bastard! takes everything to extremes, with quite a comic tone. Legend of Lemnear stays a little more straight faced, but also keeps the action coming with little pause for thought.
Bastard and Lemnear both have ecchi, lots of action, and high fantasy; should I elaborate more? Bastard!! has more comedy and Legend Of Lemnear is more straightforward, but both smell of the same scent.

Both 3x3 Eyes and Bastard! are short OVAs where gore is the main theme. In 3x3 Eyes a magical race is the main feature while in Bastard! it's a wizard. Definitely very comparable series!
Powerful being trapped in human bodies, Parvati IV from 3x3 Eyes and Dark Schneider from Bastard!! have some immediate similarities. Watch out when they break free, as charnage soon follows. Both short OVAs with plenty of action, if you enjoyed one, you should check out the other.

In MD Geist and Bastard!! the main characters are both violent fighters who have been locked away for many years. Now that they have escaped, they plan to take what they want. Intense action follows both throughout. If you liked the dark tones and action of one series, you should try out the other.
Both series have violent anti-heroes for protagonists. They both live in a world of brutal violence which they must fight their way through. Both anime are light on plot but heavy on action with a dash of fanservice.
The settings might be different but their the same kind of spectacle anime more about providing visceral thrills than being intellecutally satisfying.
