If you liked either of these shows, you got to watch the other!

Dunbine was the true father of NGE: Anno always admitted he was a huge fan of Tomino and the similiarties among the shows are countless..

Biologically based mecha that common weapon can't hurt, as they are covered by barriers powered by something metaphysical and that they can only penetrate among themselves; a lead mecha pictured in violet; insect-like mecha-design; similar characters like Ciela Lapana and Rei Ayanami (luckily there's no Shinji in Dunbine :P) and so on...

So one moment your a normal person living on Earth, then next your in a fantastic land in the middle of a war?

Both of these titles are similar in nature due to the whole fantasy element, but also more so for the mecha, which resemble medieval Armor.  Dunbines look a tad insect like, but still hold on to that European Dark Age look.

Of all Tomino's non-Gundam works, Aura Battler Dunbine is probably the closest thing to basically being another Gundam, a medieval Gundam perhaps. Above all a lot of the characters and the general tone of the show feels closer to Zeta rather than the original Gundam series and others, so if you enjoyed the grimdark storytelling through Zeta and are a fan of Tomino's style, then definitely check out Dunbine. Oh and yeah, both are "Kill Em' All" Tomino for the record.

Both Aura Battler Dunbine and Panzer World Galient take place in a vaguely Medieval fantasy setting with sprinklings of futuristic technology, and of course mecha. The battles are often on a very large-scale, and feature regular soldiers fighting alongside powerful mecha. Both of them have forces at work which are not really magic, but also play a signifigant role in their respective worlds.

Both shows are about a guy who gets drawn from the modern world into a more medieval land, where he then becomes the pilot of a giant mecha which is fueled by magic rather than science.

Both shows feature two guys from the outside world getting pulled into an alternate dimension, where they wind up piloting mecha on opposing sides of some local war. The featured hero in each tale joins up with a small group of fighters with a small transport craft and helps defend them against the attacks of their much more numerous foes. (Which is only fair, since the attackers are at least as interested in the hero as they are in the group he's with in each show.)

Anyone who watches both of these series will definitely start feeling deja vu.
