Hanako, Olivia, and Kasumi are asked by Aozora Tsugumi to go into the student council room to retrieve the Banana Papers that are hidden somewhere in there. The Banana Papers contain scandals that have happened around school and the student council president is apparently using that to blackmail other students. Hanako and the other girls try to decline the request, but Tsugumi manages to buy them all off one way or another and they end up having to go get the Banana Papers...

Join Tadakuni, Hidenori and Yoshitake as they undergo the trials and tribulations of life in high school. Both Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou and Asobi Asobase are filled with school-based comedy, deliviered in short sub-episodic chunks.
Both have a very similar kind of comedy... I don't really know how to describe it... but, if you've watched one, you will hopefully be prepared for the characters' mixture of dark thoughts, sexual innuendos, and childish whims. They are also both set in schools with a wide and diverse range of characters.
Though one is all-male and the other all-female, they are surprisingly similar. You don't have to be female to enjoy Asobi Asobase, and you certainly don't have to be male to enjoy Daily Lives of High School Boys.
They're literally the same anime but genders reversed, both are super funny and i highly recommend both to anyone looking for something to at least get a giggle out of.
Pipimi and Popuko are two typical 14-year-old girls with endless energy. Together, the two become the stuff of memes by having shootouts in space, traversing video game worlds, stealing an umbrella from [redacted], or other spastic misadventures.

Both of these have similar taste in humour though i prefer Asobi Asobase' of the two as it's a bit softer and easier to digest.
A typical morning. The usual music. Their normal lives. The peace these seven girls experience will suddenly be destroyed. By the living dead... zombies. A reality that they never wanted a part of, an amazing and terrifying zombie world. They all share one wish: "We want to live." These girls will struggle through this saga, in order to achieve a...

at first glance these two anime have little in common but for the young female protagonists. and of course the close proximity of their airings. anyways, even the animation is significantly different.
as to why I decided to compare the two, well let me elaborate. I will list them as they come to mind.
1. the male characters are completely ridiculous (not that the females aren't). it's just that they are absolutely insane. I think mamoru miyano's character is the least predictable, definitely. however, the others give him a run for his money. hiro shimono as the cop is great.
2. the gap moe. ok the first episode of saga was a surprise. I mean, I had certain expectations based on the title and cover ovbiously. so I expected something bad to happen. and I also kept thinking of the american film they are making a sequel of. what I did not expect was the SPOILERidolSPOILER angle. and it's actually hard to choose SPOILER BEGIN between the rap battle, the electrified stage scene, and the metal gig, SPOILER END which of their shows is the best. good music in an anime is sublime. as for asobi asobase, I just didn't expect those girls to be so hardcore. no one did I suppose.
3. the op/ed. the opening of saga is ridiculous and amazing. the ending of asobi asobase even more so.
4. was there a fourth reason? hmm perhaps that they are both just ridiculous in the sense that whenever you're about to take the shows seriously they completely undermine that feeling with something nonsensical.
I think that's it...after all the animation style and the sound are totally different, and the characters, despite my descriptions above, aren't very similar. saga has a vague storyline but it's nonsensical like everything else. peace!
