They're both shows about girls who run away from home to pursue their dreams. They both have female leads and follow a typical shoujo story. The tags are also very similar

Kishiyami Kishiyami says...

Like Shirayuki, Arte leaves her home to pursue her own dream. They both ended up cutting their so that they could prove something. The time period is also somewhat similar because of nobility and all. They also have beautiful art styles and scenery which look similar. Although their roles are somewhat swapped, because Shirayuki is a commoner, whereas Arte is a noble, who gives up her life as a noble to pursue her dream.

Nicknames Nicknames says...

Both shows have a female protagonist who go as far as possible to make their dreams a reality. They also have a similar vibe and, while arte has no romance, fans of one will definitely like the other one too.

Both have female protagonists that have to overcome odds and even suppress romance or romantic feelings to achieve their own dreams. They both have similar feel-good easy-going story, humour, and interactions of the people around them. they have similar animation style and attention to detail, from clothing to backgrounds. They both have excellent music tracks. Both MC's take journey's and move around their respective worlds, and both are specialised in one area of work that they want to perfect. I really like these type of series being made in the last few years and I can't wait to see more like these two!

Arte and Snow White with the Red Hair are quite similar in that it features the female protagonists taking it upon themselves to change their fate and pursue their dreams in their respected fields. Although both shows have various conflicts, they both have an overall quite upbeat tone to their stories.

Kakajoju Kakajoju says...

In both of these animes, a girl is trying to devote herself to her hobbies despite what people think of her. While in Arte it's art, in Ascendance of a Bookworm it's books.

Sabure Sabure says...

Both series feature a very strong-willed, stubborn, and determined female lead that will stop at nothing to achieve their goals no matter how difficult or impossible the odds. For Arte, it's striving to become an artist in early Renaissance-era Italy, where opportunities for women are severely limited. For Myne, it's establishing a culture of reading and introducing the wonderful world of books in an alternate universe.

StellaeSamos StellaeSamos says...

They both have empowered female characters doing whatever it takes to make their dreams come true and going against social norms in the process. They're also both very light-hearted and fluffy.

Kamiofdreams Kamiofdreams says...

Both of these anime revolve around strong female characters who aren't willing to give up what they want just because society tells them it's impossible.

With both being set in a time where the standard was different, but both main characters prevail and prove that they are not just apart of normal society.

I really think these animes have a similar vibe to it. While Arte is a little bit more light hearted they are both about a young girl who everyone finds different and a little bit strange. As they get to know her however, they learn things about themselves and she learn things about herself.

RomaGuard RomaGuard says...

Though the main characters are very different, the shows have a similar feeling and plot development. Additionally, the animation and music are very similar. Overall, a calm but dramatic tone is shared by the shows, as well as determined characters finding their paths. Where Violet Evergarden can be sadder, Arte is often more focused on frustration and determination.

Both are historical animes that feature a strong female protagonist. While, Violet Evergarden is more emotional than the light hearted Arte, they both main characters follow a career path that leads them on a journey to self discovery. Also, both have a similar sort of muted color palette.

Spice and Wolf

Spice and Wolf

Since long ago, the wolf goddess Holo has honored a contract to bless the rural village of Pasloe with fertile harvests; and in return she has been celebrated and worshipped by the villagers. But as mankind advances, the people have begun to take command of nature for themselves and have made their own god to worship. Holo finds that she is paid little more than lip service, if not outright mocked; and considering the contract annulled, she takes human form and enlists the aid of a passing merchant, Kraft Lawrence, to return to her home in the snowy forests to the north. As they journey together, Kraft finds that he has plenty to learn from this capricious god, and she from him as well.

This anime most closely reminds me of Spice & Wolf (An oldie but a goodie), however as someone looking more for the personal development, medieval themes and romance aspects than the "men are trash" theme that this anime beats like a dead horse, I found that Spice & Wolf accomplishes much more depth and emotion than Arte does in the same amount of episodes. In Arte, nearly every episode has the same line from a generic bigoted male character about how women can't possibly do xyz, and Arte gets to prove them wrong. Overall I didn't connect very well to this anime due to annoyance over the repetition and lack of depth provided by it, and am somewhat surpised at the high ratings here.

Overall, if you connected with Arte for the feminist views, you will not find the same level of this in Spice & Wolf. However if you enjoy a historical themed anime where you can learn more about the history behind it and also enjoy a nice romance along the way, you should definitely check out Spice & Wolf. Disclaimer, Spice & Wolf does have fantasy themes not represented in Arte.

These two shows have similar vibes and a slightly serious tone but they still have comedic elements. The characters relationships develop differently but they start out with the male lead being annoyed with the female lead.

Kobato.

Kobato.

The cheery Kobato Hanato is on a mission to heal people’s damaged hearts and gather the resulting “konpeito”; she must collect one hundred of these candy-shaped trophies in order for her deepest wish to be granted: to go to a certain place. Along the way, she’s accompanied by an ever-disgruntled, talking stuffed animal of a guardian named Ioryogi who scores her efforts, attempts to keep her on-track, and reminds her of the rule governing her task: she only has one year to fulfill her goal.

Cheerful/Optimistic vibes all the way! If you need a cute story with a protagonist who fights for her goals, just watch this. Both have to face many obstacles (Arte in a 16th century-context and Kobato with daily life struggles, and a little bit of magic here and there) to accomplish what they strive for. They'll meet some friends in the way and deal with a serious-kind of "tsun" male co-protagonist.

Both female protagonists have similar personalities; persistently aiming for their goals with help of friends that they make along the way. They act against the social norms for women and nobles.

Both animes share a strong theme of friendship and love, but romantic elements are not prominent in either

Villainess is isekai and isn't realistic, as it contains magical art

Yona of the dawn and Arte are both about a young girl who's discovering the world in a way. They are both women during a time where most people think that girls can't do a lot of things but these girls go against all of these norms. It's not always that everyone likes them, but with some time they manage to change people minds. Both of them are also kind of innocent and while at least Arte is listed as a romance, it is pretty non-existent. The girl and her journey is in the center and we get to see them grow with time.
