Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High is a school for the extremely wealthy or, in Haruhi's case, the extremely talented. But no amount of talent will help when Haruhi accidentally drops an eight million yen vase in a music room. The vase was the property of Ouran High School Host Club, a group of attractive young men who, for a fee, provide their time and affections for their lovesick clientele: the female students. Fascinated by this strange new specimen, a poor and clumsy commoner, they force Haruhi to work for them until the debt is repaid; but they get a lot more than they bargained for...

GabiiTachibana GabiiTachibana says...

The main theme of these anime is identical: an ambiguous girl stumbles into a host club, and is believed to be male. After breaking something in the club's room, the girl owes favors to the host club in order to pay back the money she'd have to pay for the damages.

kisuitha kisuitha says...

The main topic in these animes is the same. With the only exception that the guys in the host club of Aoharu are more mature and she has to participate in a tournament instead of entertaining other girls in the club.

Riruri Riruri says...

Both of these anime revovle around female girls who are mistaken as guys. The main female in each also has to pay off their debt they owe to the host club. Aoharu is more of action but both are similar.

Joplin Joplin says...

This is something I would reccomend closely with, even though they are put in different settings the situation is similar. Matsuoka and Tamaki share the same personality is what makes it so relative. The protagonist girls are both gender bender, cross dressers, however one is a thinker and the other is governed by feelings. Yet nonetheless they both have convictions and are good natured. The shows also share some great comedy. If you wanted a more serious plot we now have Aoharu x Kikanjuu. Sorry there's less reverse harem interaction but the drama is there.

CodySenpai CodySenpai says...

As the others have stated OHHS and Aoharu x Machinegun topics are pretty much the same with the latter being a little more mature and introducing wepons/tournement into the series

MamaSpagooter MamaSpagooter says...

Similiar scenario I suppose, a girl who looks like a guy and acts like one too basically gets labeled as a guy. I couldn't finish Aoharu x Kikanjuu because I felt of it as kind of cringe inducing and it seemed like one big airsoft advertisement

swagswagyes swagswagyes says...

these 2 animes both represent a girl who got mistaken for a boy. and then they broke something and has to repay their debt. then they both join a club or a ream to repay.sooner or later the both realize they want to stay on the club or team.

Satato Satato says...

They're both reverse-trap animes with the main character being "tied up" financially into being the latest recruit for a host's group. And, in the beginning at least, the males in both are unaware of the fact that the main character is a girl, which makes the playout all the more interesting.

Both shows have a similar sort of bonding that occurs in that the main characters decide to remain hidden, and end up bonding with the other males in an unexpected manner.

While Ouran is a cute romantic comedy about a poor girl at a rich school, surrounded by ridiculous "hosts", Aoharu x Kikanjuu has a less obvious romcom feel, and has a good deal more action and a bit more passion as well, while still remaining lighthearted the majority of the time.

They're both extremely similar in a lot of ways, but they have their differences as well, allowing them to be well liked by the same crowd but not bore them. If you like one, you're almost sure to like the other as well.

(They're tied as my #1 favorite anime btw. reverse traps ftw).

OmniscientAristocrat OmniscientAristocrat says...

Very similar story. Cross dressing girl breaks something at a host club. The most popular guy, blond and oblivious to her gender, makes her join him to repay the debt.

*Not to mention the fact that the crossdressing girl happens to be amazing at what she ends up doing to pay off the debt (Hosting/shooting).

Ky4Sale Ky4Sale says...

Both have a crossdressing main character. All the characters have their differrnt quirks. Even though they have two different themes both shows are similar in some aspects. The amount of comedy in both shows are similar as well and they are very enjyable.

WaifusAndWaffles WaifusAndWaffles says...

Even though the two anime being relatively different, while Aoharu x Kikanjuu is about gunfights and Ouran being about a fancy host club in a private high school, the two anime have the same feel to them. Both have a female protagonist who crossdresses's to pay back some sort of debt and they both have a quirky comedic vibe to them.

BurningSnoMan BurningSnoMan says...

Both are a great and have a similar kind of subject.

Both have women either intention or unintentionally pretending to be male.

Both can have emotional moments and scenes.

Both feel like there's room for sequels.

RoseCandle16 RoseCandle16 says...

The plots are very, very similar. Both have to do with cross dressing and being in dept for damaging expensive property.

DiaHolly DiaHolly says...

Seriously If you liked this then you will love this Ouran High Host Club, it has a great story, and you will really love these characters. Try it out!

simplist1c simplist1c says...

The main character (which is a girl) looks and acts like a dude to fulfill some type of promise they originally made. I personally like the gender bend type of theme to it, so you might like either or.

tosoon tosoon says...

If you liked Aoharu x machingun then you may like Ouran High School Host Club because they both:

♡have Host Clubs

♡Blond main character that is both serious and cute plus he is the most popular host

♡Main girl character that is mistaken for a boy who is in debt with the club and works to pay it

♡strong female leades

♡A character (Yukimura) who is both cute and a badass

♡Some the characters don't act appropriate for their age

All in all, they both have a few things in common and are both fun to watch plus there is ROMANCE too.

Kishiyami Kishiyami says...

Yeah, I agree, the main charachters are sort of similar. They both look like guys but end up being girls, they both have sort hair. The plots are both good, if you liked Ouran High School Host Club, then you'll like Aoharu X Machinegun.

adeil adeil says...

The protagonists in both animes are females who have to disguies as men to help. Haruhi has to act as a boy in a host club because of a debt she has. And Tachibana has to act and dress as a boy because she wants to be part of a team that only men are allowed to be.

Alyssi Alyssi says...

This is the best recommendation for me. Because its the same as that she was debt... This is really worth to watch

Both main characters pretend to be boys, both have some kind of combat and fighting.

The stories, in my opinion, are somewhat similar but at the same time different.

I recommend everybody who liked Kenka Banchou Otome: Girl Beats Boys to also give this anime a try.

Kaneki11Andi Kaneki11Andi says...

Both anime revolve around one tomboyish girl, dressed as a boy. They are also filled with action as both girls have to learn how to deal with unexpected emotions towards their guy friends that have no idea that they are actually girls.

freezieGG freezieGG says...

It's just good in general so go watch it. But, it has that bloodlust and fighting that Aoharu x Machinegun had. It has the really good friendly guy characters, and it also has the main character pretending to be a guy, Honestly it's so good, I totally recommend it. The only problem is that the episodes are really short and there is no continuation, after the show (unless you play the game).

UnreadRevival UnreadRevival says...

Both of them have one common thread, that the main character is seen by others as a boy, when in reality they are both female. There are some differences, but both involve fighting in a sense. Aoharu x Machinegun involves airsoft fighting, and Girl Beats Boys involves physical fighting. I would honestly reccomend both, as they are better than I expected. They are both really good, and you should watch both if you haven't already.

Sabagebu! Survival Game Club

Sabagebu! Survival Game Club

Momoko's family moves a lot, so she's always "that new girl" and the schools she's attended have all blurred together. Until her first day at Aogiri High, that is, where she's rescued by an armed vigilante, assaulted by a platypus and coerced into joining a secret organization of gun-toting female commandos. Okay, maybe that last one is really just the school's survival club, but the platypus is real and so are the extremes that club president Miou is willing to execute to recruit Momoko. Can uber-jaded Momoko's body armor-clad heart resist the charms of a girl who's all too ready to whip out her twin Desert Eagles in defense of another girl's virtue? Especially when it turns out that Momoko has her own talent for air pistols and senseless violence?

I love this series and I definitely recommend this to people who want to watch something incredibly intense and dramatic in Survival Games. I love the characters, the story line and the cool action scenes.

NixKaen NixKaen says...

The biggest resemblance between these two animes is the fact that they both focus on Survival Games. They both also have a lot of comedic content and an otaku reference character. Sabagebu is far more light-hearted and made just for jokes and sarcasm though, while Aoharu has more of a storyline about friendship and trials and could almost be a RomCom--but very light with the romance.

Both protagonist are a bit absurdly wild, sided they are also smart in their own ways when driven. Oh the reverse harem is there but not uniquely there; Look at Ouran High School Host Club for a bit more. Essentially there could be one guy that could actually fall in love with this protagonist. This show is more casual and more to laugh on this spiteful personality that both protagonists which the shows share. So, cheers for the comedy and more casual episodes.

I know alot of people compare Aoharu x Kikanjuu to Ouran, but it's really closer to KnB.

Both have ultra high tension and drama. Both of the main teams have a rival they want to beat for personal reasons. Both Akashi and Midori are presented as all powerful sadists (although Midori definitely beats Akashi in the Sadistic category).

All in all i think if you typically enjoy sports and game anime then you will enjoy Aoharu x Kikanjuu, because it is a sports anime. It may be misunderstood as a romantic comedy, but that is definitely not the case.
