Anime in 200 Words: Angel Tales 2

Audience: Angel Tales 2 is aimed at young girls who enjoy cute characters, magic, and dreaming about boyfriends. In addition, it’s for people who already watched Angel Tales; this isn’t a sequel that can stand on its own.

Premise: A year has passed since the angels moved into Goro’s house. They’re still there, though they don’t appear to serve any purpose. Goro is now a veterinarian.

Characters: This is the strong point of Angel Tales 2, despite their poor development. All of the character designs have been altered to reflect the passage of time. I actually enjoyed the changes they made.

Animation: The mouths don’t even remotely match the dialogue. If this had been dubbed to English, it would be moderately acceptable. The fact that this occurs in the original Japanese causes some major problems for me. In addition, there are segments of obviously recycled footage and clichéd full screen screams that decrease the quality of the overall experience.

Overall: If you didn’t see the prequel, skip Angel Tales 2; you won’t really understand things. Otherwise, expect plenty of relationship drama, plot developments that aren’t really explained, and virtually no guys but Goro.
