[I have decided to leave the 13th episode out of the consideration for what I rate this anime as it serves as more of an OVA esque episode post the conclusion the 12th episode provided. I think this would be understandable to anyone who knows what the episode was like]

It's (mostly) cool

My opinion on this anime has really taken itself to have a drastic shift throughout my time watching it. I actually started it months before I mentioned it, solely because I randomly found it on Anime Planet, I think under comedy, and saw that people seemed to really like it. I was in a bit of a stale area for anime at the time as I was looking for shows that I wouldn't get bored of super quickly. And if I can say one thing, it's that the very first episode of Amagi Brilliant Park fulfilled all of my demands.

I don't think there has ever been an episode of an anime that has made me laugh out loud as much as this show's pilot did. And, honestly, as rare of me to say, this was all due to the English cast. They provide so much charm and personality to this show, and whenever the comedy lands, which was especially present in the pilot, it lands even harder than I would assume most jokes would within the Japanese one. As flawed as it can be, the English voice actors at the very least for the Park's own cast of people really did put forward an effort to make each character stand out from one another.

However, I will say, and the most distinct reason for my initial fall out with this show is what happened after the first episode. Considering how much I absolutely loved and adored the pilot, I thought I was in for the most fun and enjoyable experiences an anime could bring me. I sadly can say, that for episodes 2-5, I was horribly mistaken. Those 4 episodes were back to back some of the most incredibly boring experiences I've had watching the show. I don't recall really any of the jokes landing to an extent that actually takes a place in my mind, as even if they did, I had so little enjoyment from them that it barely even matters. I'm not sure if they just couldn't figure out any funny jokes to make, or if I just happened to be in a continual bad mood any of the times I watched those episodes, but they really brought down my hopes for this show. It made me genuinely quit watching for a while. I was under the impression that this show, in some way spent their entire budget on the pilot, in a way I've seem described for another anime I haven't watched yet (something along the lines of "The Detective Is Already Dead") and just didn't want to watch anymore. And I didn't, those 4 episodes genuinely made me lose interest. I didn't hate the characters or anything at that point (or even now), it was just unfun to watch, and honestly, the foundational grounds of this anime relies on it being fun to watch.

I will say that I'm glad I decided to give this anime another try a couple months later. I picked up on episode 6, and to my surprise, I actually really, really liked it. Almost, though not quite, as much as the very first episode, I was so pleasantly surprised. Honestly, one of the coolest thing is the hiring of three new staff members as one of those staff members ended up being my favorite character in the show.

That character being Shiina Chuujou

Personally I found her as a pleasant surprise, I enjoy literally any time she's on screen and honestly wish she was more prominent in the show. It's nice how she got more screen time than expected though, she's really fun.

But, episode 7 also followed through with providing a genuinely enjoyable episode, and just with those two my interest for the show is revitalized. I'm glad it did, I really like this show. At least more than I expected too as of literally a couple days ago. That fall off really hurt it, but I'm glad they came back right after. I will say, they never quite hit their peak again, but they did do a good job at genuinely being funny, I found myself laughing quite a bit throughout episodes 6-12, and surprisingly, even at one specific part of 13 at least.

As I close this off I will put specific mention onto 13. This episode sits in a really odd space, and in a sense, it's one of my least favorites of the series, but I have to judge it in respective to what it is and because of that I can't treat it like I do most. At the head of this review I describe it as if it's some sort of OVA, and even though it isn't this anime's actual OVA, that is what it reminds me of. You see, Amagi Brilliant Park surpringly really found a way to, for the most part, tone down on what most animes would use as fan service. Especially since most anime resort to the same sort of sexualized, boring fan service, and don't really have any actual fun with it, but that really takes a backstep in this one. It's not something that showcases itself very often, as at the most, it's there usually as part of Tiramie's character, as direct part of how perverted he is. I find that very nice, and by the 13th episode, I guess they decided that's where they'll dump all the fan service. Personally, as much as it bores me, I don't mind that idea. It works and doesn't serve as a distraction, and I mean, there isn't any direct harm as the sexualized fanbase is basically solely in the fairies, which based on my knowledge haven't been established as teenagers or anything like someone like Kanie, so who am I to judge giving certain fans what they like. Plus, I found the in-episode running joke of the old man shirtless who says "yum" anytime his picture shows up genuinely funny all of the times it pops up. It's kinda weird how funny I found it, but I laughed so I laughed.

Them having moans recorded for the fairies make absolutely no sense though, but I'll not be so nitpicky on episode 13 and leave that alone. I like this anime, it's more enjoyable than I once thought it would be and I recommend that everyone give it a try at least up until episode 6. If you happen to not like episode 1, then maybe it's not for you at all, though I would say to still give 1-6 or 7 a try, and if anything, maybe even skip all the way to 6 if you really feel like it. That's all I think I have to say, I usually don't review anime as I do that more for music, but I hope I was able to format my thoughts about this in an understandable way

7/10

I was considering maybe giving it something like a 6.75, but I think I'll be a bit nicer to this anime and just settle with a 7

Story:

Seiya was forced to accept an invitation to an amusement park by the mysterious and beautiful girl Isuzu.

What he didn't know was that she would bring him to the decrepit Amagi Brilliant Park, Japan's most disappointing amusement park.

Seiya is introduced to the leader of the Park, the "real princess" Latifah, who suddenly entrusts him with saving the park, which is in danger of shutting down. Amagi Brilliant Park, it turns out, is not just any amusement park, but rather one populated by fairies.

This is a very fun show. It is all about building and bringing the team together. "A team needs teamwork". Either everyone is winning together or everyone is losing together. The key point is 'together'.The plot is slightly above average and a giant mess, but the characters really make the show. In fact, the main charaters names are based of rap musicians. Seiya Kanie = Kanye West, Isuzu Sento = 50 Cent, and Latifah Fleuranza = Queen Latifah. I love how the OP changes throughout the show and the contrast art of the ED is great.

This anime showed lots of promise in first two episodes but after that it gone down hill in story part although it was entertaining. I would say hats off to the animation house on their animation which was one of the reason that I gone with this till the end. Its a easy going anime good for those who just want to rest their mind a bit without getting into it means it will not live you hanging about what will happen next like Death Note,Baccano, Gin tama, One Piece, Naruto(except the fillers) etc.

You should watch this anime bcz of its animation and lightness on the mood. Its kinda stress reliever. I will recommend this to those who are working and want something to take there mind off a bit.
