This anime had SO MUCH potential and it was entertaining for a while.  When this anime first started out, the characters were interesting, unique, and seemed to have serious potential for an amazing story line.  Something that tugs at my short curlies is when an anime starts out really twisted which akame ga kill nailed.  However, the rest of the anime wasn't like that at all.... I feel like I got honey potted. Bamboozled... Tricked.

While Akame ga kill attempted to create two different points of view (night raid and the jaegers) .... They failed miserably.  Most of the characters that were apart of the empire's task force were skin deep and at times, boring and predictable.

Out of all of the characters that came from this story, there was a very limited number of  that I felt anything for.  While I do admire this anime's ability to kill off characters... They did it all wrong as you really didn't know anything at all about the characters as they were being sliced to pieces.  So I just watched a bunch of pixels die rather than characters.

They say next to nothing about Minister honest or the emperor.  Most of the character's logic is obnoxiously flawed making anything that's about to happen that much more invalid.  There were actually times where I couldn't wait for the next commercial that Hulu had to offer.  I'm not even going to bother looking up any of characters names as it would probably make me a more boring person for knowing it.

Esdeath was awesome. She was evil, hot as hell, intelligentish and mostly consistent.  The action scenes in this anime were generally awesome and unique.

I would only recommend this to anyone who's desperate for an action anime.

I already started watching it having in mind that it would be a good anime, but even so it was much better than I thought it would be. With each episode that passed I was more and more curious about what was going to happen, not to mention the huge amount of good characters that this anime has. Even so, there are things that happened that I think shouldn't have happened for the sake of the anime's history and that ended up disappointing me a lot, besides there were things that should have happened that didn't happen.
A positive point is that the fights that they have in the anime are very good to watch, besides being really cool the powers of each weapon that the characters have.

Okay. Let me start by saying that this is a really, really good anime. Its seriously enjoyable - I went through the entire series in no time at all. To be clear, I judge an anime based mainly on how entertaining it was, and then reflect on the overall story.

The whole concept drew me in. The element of a lively band of assassins was a huge game-changer for me, instead of the darkness and tragedy that you would expect from such a story, the comedy was light-hearted and created an interesting dynamic. This said, looking back I would have appreciated a bit more complexity to the plot, a lot of the intricacies of state politics were lost in the action. For example, revolutionaries were present in the government, how about discovering about their more subtle ways of contributing to the cause?

While the characters didn't initially click with me, particularly Tatsumi whom I found to be pushing the "naive country bumpkin" trope a bit too far, this was forgotten as I immersed myself in the story. When the number of males in the group decreased, the anime sometimes found itself bordering a bit too close to the land of Harem, which is indeed a fearful and terrifying place. Despite this, there was an abundance of strong, female characters. Ultimately, the deciding battle was between two of the most complex and interesting women, rather than the stereotypical hero-man that you would expect from this type of Shounen (hallelujah). Although it can be said that the anime had a massive hero-complex, in the end such acts didn't pay off (seriously, any acts of heroism were quick to result in a grisly death).

Overall, the anime had a lot of flaws. But to be honest, its one of the better animes I've seen produced this last year, and it definitely deserves your attention.

Although I understand y people don't like they do fail to understand y this is so good.

one of the main things to put out there is that the entire point of this is for self-sacrifice and personally I think this was done swiftly but very efficiently...it focuses more on the main characters emotional attachment and questioning his sanity rather than the actual world and I think it was done perfectly, however, I do understand the people complain about the bland plot I don't think its needs a perfect plot because that is not the focus of the anime.

People will complain about everyone dying but i think that what the majority of anime fans fail to realize is that how this anime ends is realistic rather than a dumb cliche on how everyone survives by the skin of their teeth

this is amongst the best of the animes that have a "bad" ending.
