Bunny Drop

Bunny Drop

When Daikichi's grandfather dies he leaves behind a young daughter named Rin. However, as most of the family is embarrassed at the idea of a 79-year-old man having a six-year-old child, they can't seem to figure out what to do with her. Disgusted by this behavior, Daikichi decides to take care of her himself, but he's a bachelor, has no idea how to raise a child, and isn't even all that comfortable with kids! Now, Daikichi must do the normal things a parent does such as enroll her in school, buy her clothing and teach her about the life and world around her. But more importantly, he must also help her deal with her father's death and decide whether or not she should try to find her mother. Together, the two begin their unlikely relationship as father and daughter, navigating each of life's bumps along the way.

both of these are about guys who end up taking care of children, and although usagi drop just came out it looks like it will have a lot of the same cuteness.

both have peple that take in a child which are both shy it seems. AB has better animation but bunny drops just started so we will see

Estuko Estuko says...

These two anime are for the ones who like to smile at pure sweetness, cry as they are moved to their cores and be warmed by wonderful emotions. The possibility of taking care of a child who has nowhere to turn for help, to raise and nurture it yet be entirely unprepared and uninformed for the actual work and hardship this entails is something we would most likely all want to do as humans, but would proboably shy away from should the occation arise. These two shows are about the two most unprepared men who by heart alone overcomes the impossibilities thrust in their faces! Love one, love the other!

abunai abunai says...

A man alone, taking care of a child suddenly thrust upon him by circumstances. The theme is moving and full of potential for pathos. As much alike as Aishiteruze Baby and Usagi Drop are, they are nevertheless very different in one respect: The protagonist of Usagi Drop is a grown man, making an essential sacrifice of his life's path to take care of a child, whereas Kippei from Aishiteruze Baby is a somewhat more carefree high-schooler, whose major sacrifice constitutes having to give up his playboy ways. Even so, these are two stories about a grown man learning the value of his life through the obligation of being in loco parentis to a young girl. The two stories share a lot in emotional impact and underlying moral lessons. If you enjoy one, you are sure to enjoy the other.

usagi05 usagi05 says...

Both anime were heart-warming, touching and lovely anime. Cuteness, pureness and innocentness of children will totally lighten your spirits.

KiyoneSaya KiyoneSaya says...

Each deal with guys that never thought they would have to fill the role of parent for a young girl that has been put in life changing predicament. Both girls come from mothers that for whatever reason cannot support their children and are in some type of emotional state. Each takes slice of life moments with a dash of drama to keep the story interesting.

coffeebreath coffeebreath says...

These anime are very very similar its almost too obvious to rec them. Unprepared male characters suddenly become surrogate fathers to young girls whose mothers are not fit to care for them. Character development is central in both. Usagi Drop is a josei version of the shoujo Aishiteruze Baby and this can be felt in the script, however, Aishiteruze Baby has equally mature themes, if not more so, on offer. Both generally blend slice-of-life and drama with great character interaction. Both have good supporting characters too, though animation and music is surpassed in Usagi Drop! That said, character design alone is lovely in both.

Daikichi's development in Usagi Drop is more interesting than Kippei's probably due to the age gap but Yuzuyu in AB is more of a realistic child character than UG's Rin. So it's worth checking both out because although they are similar the child-parent relationship on offer is unique in both.

Airotia Airotia says...

Both anime are about a male who has to take care of a girl. In each, the girl is roughly the same age. The main difference lies in the leading male characters — in Aishiteruze Baby, the leading character is a high schooler playboy. In Usagi Drop, the main character is a 30 year-old salesman in a department store.

Aishiteruze Baby focuses more on romance (not loli romance, there is another female there) and is much more dramatic; Usagi Drop is much more toned down and is more realistic. Both are good, depending on whehter you want slow-paced or faster-paced.

bunnylovesanime bunnylovesanime says...

Both stories focus on a guy who takes on fostering a small child. In both stories you get a guy who has to learn to change his entire life style. In both stories you get a very very cute child who says very cute things. In both stories you get a very emotional heart warming story about love, family, and friendship.

snivets snivets says...

Both are about young men learning how to take care of a relative's child. Kippei and Daikichi aren't really sure what they're getting into at first, but they both learn to find joy and fulfillment in being a caretaker.

zetazach zetazach says...

Aishiteruze Baby and Usagi Drop because both Kippei and Daikichi both take in a young girl. They both made hard decisions and sacrifices for the well-being of the child. While Usagi Drop has a more independent and a more serious mood to it than Aishteruze Baby, both of them show the fun, hardships, and development between the two.

DestinyKeys DestinyKeys says...

Both Aishiteruze Baby and Usagi Drop focus on two men suddenly put in the care of raising a child. Daikichi and Kippei have to make sacrifices, such as Daikichi changing his work schedule, and Kippei giving up time for relationships and tardiness. While Bunny Drop is better, in terms of Daikichi having to take time to get used to his new living situation, both animes are adorable. Also, Rin and Yuzuyu are the cutest kids ever.

Spyderwhisperer Spyderwhisperer says...

If you like this anime you might like Aishiteruze because they have very similar plot and character growth. They both have a very moving storyline.

they both have good narratives. ad are shown in a slice of life genre which people can relate to.

Both of the anime are very similar, the mothers abamdon the kids and the fathers die and the one that starts taking care of the kid falls in love with them and becomes there father.

xenokitten xenokitten says...

Both of these anime feature a young man who is suddenly burdened by his other family members and tasked to raise a very young girl, because everyone else is "too busy" to be bothered with it. Both of these young girls are so mature for their age and so emotionally strong despite the horrible circumstances that orphaned them. Both are also somewhat shy and clingy towards the main male character. Both anime also feature a love interest and romance for the main character, but it takes a back seat to the central relationship of the main character and child. Both anime are totally adorable. Usagi Drop is more light hearted I think, and Aishiteruze Baby a bit more mature in how it handles the relationships and drama, but both definitely have a lot of "heart".

Jdogtoocool Jdogtoocool says...

The story lines are different and copletely original but the setup is on point and feature exactly what you're looking to see in this type of anime. There's a little bit of romance here and there, but both shows showcase a very sincere and feel-good coming of age type story.

Full Moon is a bit sad at first when you realize what's going on with the main character, but the music is great and will have you singing along. It's a cute anime that will no doubt have you crying with joy at the end. Just like Aishiteruze Baby, it features cute and lovable characters, light comedy, and a developed plot.

Perfect Perfect says...

Both Full Moon wo Sagashite and Aishiteruze Baby make you in a good mood when watching eventhough the background story for both series is actually quite sad. They can both be abit too childish and somewhat annoying at times but then again the story is about kids.

sorgesol sorgesol says...

If you enjoye the tearinducing aspects of an anime, the tragic and heartjerking drama... then you should enjoy either of these two shows.

Full Moon wo Sagashite is filled with tradgedy and sad moments, Aishiteruze Baby less so, though enough to dampen the eyes of any one with a heart. Ofcourse, there are also happy and funny moments in both shows but it is the drama that makes them good. So grab a hanky and get to watching!

TropicalMist TropicalMist says...

Both anime have the same atmosphere and mood to it's characters. I felt like they were both aimed at the same type of audience (preteens or girls in high school).

The plot and story each had its own twists and turns and "major problems of the day". However, character develops were made gradually and not at one specific episode.

I think they each had their own "cute" moments as well which gives it the same feel in general. There's no dramatic ending or surprise, so they're both relaxing and light watches.

I find ab and fmws not that much alike, but they're both equally good! The two shows do revolve around children and development of love.

Fruits Basket and Aishiteruze Baby are kinda similar in the way that Yuzuyu and Tohru share similar personalities. While Kippei takes care of Yuzuyu, in Fruits Basket Kyo is always there protecting the innocent Tohru. Moreover, both series have a sweet atmosphere.

kilrothi kilrothi says...

Both Aishiteruze Baby and Fruits Basket are warm, lighthearted slice-of-life style comedies, whose basic premise relies on a darker, more complicated situation.  The characters are likable, the episodes well paced and seemingly without a plot.  Both main characters are simple, innocent girls who are deeply cared for by those around them, though they may not realize it (Tohru because of her obvliviousness, Yuzuyu because of her age).

Michichan Michichan says...

Both series are very cute and happy, with a serious side. Anyone who was charmed by Yuzuyu's cute actions will also love Tohru's antics in Fruits Basket.

The protagonists in Aishiteruze Baby and Fruits Basket both have the happy go lucky feeling about them bringing sunshine wherever they happen to be.Although the message in Fruits Basket takes a little more serious note and Aisiteruze Baby plays on a realistic sense of occurrence, both series deal with the hero trying to protect what matters to him.

Johin Johin says...

Daa! Daa! Daa! is a cute and sweet series dealing with issues of how a baby who has been flung across the galaxy could miss his parents, and how his earthling junior high foster parents take care of him.

Aishiteruze Baby is a more serious and grounded family story with a hormonal male teenager who is appointed to take care of a girl who's barely five years old.

Both series are about teenagers growing up by the events brought about by a child unwittingly left to their care. These makeshift families makes for strange ones, but are still family nonetheless. If you like kids and the slice-of life genre with a little bit of romance, you'd surely enjoy these.

Both anime deal with young underaged kids who suddenly find themselves tasked with raising a small child. There's many cute and funny moments, but also many dramatic and tense moments in each anime as well. Both anime are full of love and warm fuzzies as you watch the bond deepen between the children and main characters, and both main characters change and grow as a result of having the experience of raising and caring for a small child.

Aside from sharing the half-manga, half-anime shoujo feel, Aishiteruze Baby and Bokura ga Ita have similar approaches to their romances. The major difference between the two, though, is that Bokura ga Ita lacks an abhorrently obnoxious little brat at the center of the romance, and instead orchestrates its drama through personality flaws in its characters. Still, putting my dislike for whiny children aside, the romantic atmospheres are quite comparable, so if you enjoyed one you'd more than likely enjoy the other.

wolfangel87 wolfangel87 says...

Aishiteruze Baby and Bokura ga Ita both have a very slow paced plot line.  Not that the series drag on but they are very in depth when in comes to character emotions and feelings develop over a longer period of time.  They each have a relationship obstacle that the main characters must try and over come through out the series.

One day, Benika gives him a much different assignment: to protect Murasaki Kuhoin, a seven-year-old girl from the wealthy Kuhoin family. This turns out to be a more troublesome task than he expects, as Murasaki is spoiled, naive, and completely unaware of what life is like outside of the luxurious one she had previously. He also has no idea why Murasaki needs his protection, though he is slowly obtaining details from a well-informed classmate. Adding to his problems, Shinkurou still must continue to do his previous work for Benika and take care of his social relationships in school while protecting Murasaki, complicating his entire life. Aishiteruze Baby and Kurenai strictly focus on a male student who must suddenly take care of a little girl. The only real difference is that Kurenai involves darker story-telling with fantasy-like elements, and Baby is much more light and realistic. Nevertheless, if you liked one of them, then you will certainly want to take a good peek at the other.

Worosei Worosei says...

Both about a school kid guy having to take care of a little girl.

Kurenai though is much darker, deeper and action orientated. Aishiteruze Baby is... well shojo. Both of them though aren't lolicon animes despite having a young girl protagonist.

Both seems to look at 'slice-of-life' attitude of the male lead's school life, and deals with the themes of 'loneliness'. Romance is also slotted into both animes.

If you liked one of these series then you might like the other because both serie mainly resolves around young high school students suddendly ending up taking care of young kids.  While Kurenai tends to have more action elements than Aishiteruze Baby they both tend to focus on the development of relationships between both the male lead and female lead as well as development between supporting characters.  Also each series while at times become very serious touching on some pretty deep issues that keeps the plot interesting.

Air and Aishiteruze Baby are similar because in both, a guy must look after a little girl - though the situations are different. Air can be a little confusing but you'll understand it if you think about it a bit. Kunisaki meets the "girl in the sky" which is a story that has been passed down in his family. He then takes care of this girl and tries to save her from her fate. Kippei, on the other hand, also tries to help Yuzuyu and becomes a father-like figure for her. Both anime have amazing imagery and outstanding stories.
