Graphic violence, crazy science gone wrong, mountains of action with a sprinkle of omg.  These two anime are similar In many ways but I think God eater does a better job of filling that void.

Those bitten become one of them. Called the “Kabane,” these monsters exploded in number. The Hinomoto people built fortress stations and barricaded themselves inside. Both have a slow trek to a destination featuring a special MC, linked to an apocalyptic entity, with large groups of mysterious monster-y things attacking everyone. Both sci-fi and have a lot of edgy action.

In both animes, there is a group that needs to create its own path to reach the final base, fighting monsters and plant to make their way, and at the end, there is someone with the potential to stop all the madness and bring the world back to normal.

AICO and Gargantia are both that specific type of "netflix original", complicated plot, world-building heavy sci-fi show. They've got unique semi-apocalyptic settings which play a huge role in the mystery of each show.

They also have the same director and character designer, so AICO and Gargantia have a very similar visual feel to them.

Fairy gone

Fairy gone

Fairies possess and reside within animals, granting them special powers. By surgically removing and transplanting the organs of a possessed animal into a human, humans can partially summon the fairy and use it as a weapon. Eventually, such individuals were used for war, and were called "Fairy Soldiers." After a long war, these soldiers lost their purpose, and had to reintegrate into society. Nine years after the end of the war, Maria is a fresh recruit of "Dorothea," an organization dedicated to the investigation and suppression of fairy-related crimes and incidents. Even in peacetime, the government is still unstable after the war. Many criminals still have lingering wounds from the previous conflict, and there are terrorist groups bent on revenge.
