Lucky Star

Lucky Star

In present day Japan, the life of a school girl is never dull. The easily-bored Konata never finds time to study because of her otaku habits, which frustrates hard-working Kagami to no end. On the other hand, laid-back Tsukasa always manages to go with the flow, while Miyuki is concerned with keeping her status as resident know-it-all. Join these four girls as they muse and meander their way through everyday events such as eating chocolate cones, doing homework, gaming, and trips to the beach galore.

ThePatches ThePatches says...

Lucky Star's slice-of-life as comedy formula matches very closely to that on display in Acchi Kocchi. The thematic episodes and softer humor put the two shows in the same place tonally, but the earlier show has the decided advantage of playing more directly to an otaku audience. If you're familiar with anime and anime tropes, do yourself a favor and check out the other pillar of 4-koma adaptations, KyoAni's Lucky Star.

VergelAnimeFan VergelAnimeFan says...

If you love Lucky star, you will sure love to watch this (or the other way around) Both are wojderful comedies about everyday life. However, Acchi Koichi is funnier, has better graphics, male characters, better sound quality and even a theme song that actually fits in well (if at all) compared to Lucky star. However, Lucky star does have a great amount of comedy, and is generally more popular, better known and more easily accessable than Acchi Koichi. Watch both of these anime, its well worth waitin for

Shanalogic Shanalogic says...

Basically the same slice of life comedy genre, Lucky Star is like an anime representing the otaku-ness/stereotypes of Japan, while Acchi Kocchi is about love.... i guess? They both give the same feel of ordinary everyday highschool life. Even in the mangas theyre both 4-koma "comic strips". The characters are also kinda similar, but Acchi Kocchi actually has GUYS and also more characters. I liked Lucky STar better prob cuz Im an otaku~ >:) It wouldnt hurt to watch any of them~

greenymaco greenymaco says...

Both are chibi and very random. They bth have a cute sense or humor and are very cute. I recomend you watch it.

RavenheartN1Anime RavenheartN1Anime says...

Both have a simular atmosphere where the watcher can enjoy a short story in a calm environment with a warm feeling.

JAhU JAhU says...

If you liked the format of Acchi Kocchi, you might want to try give  Lucky Star a try. While it has predominantly female cast and has many otkau jokes (Acchi Kocchi managed to be low on those), the format and the feel are similar, so you could probably enjoy one if you liked the other.

Sianeka Sianeka says...

If you enjoyed Acchi Kocchi for its day-in-the-classroom scenarios of a group of schoolmates hanging out together and having fun, then you might well also enjoy Lucky Star. Both shows use humor to help these friends get through their troubles and through their days together. Both shows rely on on a random and plotless format, using comedy and cuteness to portray the daily lives of their protagonists. Although Lucky Star doesn't have as many male characters as Acchi Kocchi, it does have more otaku/anime fandom comedy. If you liked Acchi Kocchi, I think you will also enjoy the more well-known Lucky Star as well.

XxMicrochibixX XxMicrochibixX says...

Both Lucky Star and Acchi Kocchi are random comedy anime with similar art styles. Acchi Kocchi doesn't have anime references in it and Lucky Star doesn't have romance in it, but other than that they have a very similar style of comedy.

Madoka Madoka says...

Acchi Kocchi and Lucky Star are quite alike in several ways, now though true lucky star has no direction on how it moves whilst Acchi Kocchi does keep within reason between each scene this actually makes little difference.

Both of slice of life comedy and both score big here, Acchi Kocchi is a little more focused on romance whilst lucky star is Otaku culture but they both give the same feeling.

If you fansy a slice of life comedy just for some cute feels and jokes then im sure they both will appeal, if you liked one i strongly suggest giving the other a shot.

LilaLily LilaLily says...

i thought lucky star when i saw acchi kocchi. It was a little less random though. And had a little romance.

Shivichan Shivichan says...

The animations, the feels, character design, are all the same...it's just a Lucky star with romance :) Plus, it also has the feels that Lucky star lacks- the Valentine Day eps, the winter season eps, and that cute romance...Also, The MC (Tsumiki) looks a lot like Konata and Hime (a side character) is a spitting image of Tsukasa...(Bonus trivia: both have the same voice actor) .

elexandria elexandria says...

Both are slice of life shows that are mainly episodic. The art styles are similar in terms of cuteness, colors and simplicity. The MCs are both unique in appearance and lovable in their own unique ways.

DudeMaam DudeMaam says...

It is a unplotted comedy series. With characters of different personality types meshing together beautifully.

Nyxerion Nyxerion says...

Both about a group of students and the events that happen in their highschool life. Not a very plot or "actiony" series so its nice for a slow day or if you just want to chill or relax.

cotyy cotyy says...

Both anime are 2000´s (ish) anime with the same type of humor. Nothing really happens in neither of them, just highschoolers being highschoolers.Acchi Kocchi is more romance oriented, while lucky star doesn't.

Probably they are both similar since their mangas are 4-koma and started around the same time era.

Both shows make you feel this extremely cute, warm and cozy atmosphere. The main male protagonists are also very similar - they are nice, caring and are often bitten by the cat-like, small girls.

Bestanimeserie Bestanimeserie says...

Both of these shows are light hearted slice of life shows with some comedy and both have a few elements of romance. The shows don't have any real plot and feature pretty much the same characters.

YuiYui YuiYui says...

Both stories are pretty cute in a way and are both based in a school. The other thing they have in common is the comedy element, you may think that these are you typical school life animes but they aren't really. They are quite amusing and even made me laugh a couple of time. Anyway both these animes are good light-hearted series, if you liked one you would like the other!

Madoka Madoka says...

Both these series are quite cute stories based around school life and the happenings of everyday life/club. Each series has a nice level of comedy you don't feel is too much or forced and offer a nice feeling. Both go well when you just want something easy and cute with some giggles and laughs thrown in, if you like one i suggest trying the other

If you like this kind of warm-milk comedy and slice-of-life series but would prefer if there were hardly any boys on display, A-Channel might be your thing. Both shows have a laid-back approach to humor that leads to more "d'awwww" moments than gut-busting laughs.

A great school slice of life anime. They do have a different feel from one another however they are both really enjoyable with fun characters.

Both Azumanga Daioh and Acchi Kocchi are random slice of life series that take place in high school. Acchi Kocchi has a little bit of romance in it while Azumanga does not, but both series are very funny and if you enjoy one you will probably enjoy the other.

Both Ridiculously Cute and have the Romance, Slice of Life and Comedy genre pools, I can only garuntee that liking one, will result in liking the other.

daisy113 daisy113 says...

These two anime have extremely similar romantic scenes. They also both play on the fact that the (purple-haired!) female lead is hopelessly in love with the male lead, who is clueless about her feelings. However, they still have heartwarming moments despite their cluelessness.

Sickeningly sweet with just the right amount of comedy, randomness, and of course, great animation. Both of these recent animes display wonderful artstyles, fluid animation, and just the right amount of moe and it shows off the stellar work the folks in the studio put into these shows.

JAhU JAhU says...

I know this might be a bit of a stretch, but seeing how Acchi Kocchi is a school comedy with a stoic male lead, I couldn't help but think of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. I'm not exactly sure why, but the guy from Acchi Kocchi reminded me of Kyon from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu. There is also the part about the show revolving around a bunch of his friends. Last but not least, both have a hint of romance. Despite those similar elements the series are not all that similar, but my gut tells me you should try one if you liked the other.

Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya

Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya

Can Kyon, the only normal student of the SOS Brigade, make sense of all these odd occurrences, attempt to avoid them, and hopefully survive them with his sanity intact? With the adventure and mystery-seeking Haruhi in his way, along with aliens, espers, and time travelers, he certainly has his doubts!

And I was saying how both The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Acchi Kocchi were reminding me of each other due to the male lead, but still being quite different in style. Well... there actually is a The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya spin-off that is closer in style to Acchi Kocchi. Yeah, we're talking about Suzumiya Haruhi-chan no Yuutsu.
