It is the early 17th century in France. Dogtanian is a simpleton countryside dog that aspires to join the ranks of the Royal Musketeers – the personal guard of King of France Louis XIII and his Queen, Anne of Austria. Thirsty for adventures, he never looks back to an opportunity to save the day or his beloved Julliet. Together with his friends Sandy the horse; Planchet the servant; and the three muskehounds Athos, Porthos and Aramis; Dogtanian will fight Cardinal Richelieu's evil plots to seize the power of France. However, his goal won’t be easy, as Cardinal Richelieu has powerful allies that will do anything to defeat the noble musketeers including the Treacherous Milady, the ever-fleeting Count Rochefort and the clumsy Captain Widdemer.

Old school anime from the days when children-targeted shows still kept the trail left by Disney's works, using anthropomorphized animals as the only characters.
Even so, they are still quite enjoyable even if lots of water passed under the bridge of animation since the 80s.
A total blast from the past comes in the form of two classic tales re-told with the help of some friendly animal faces. Willy Fog travelling around the world in 80 days is now a friendly lion, and the 3 Musketeers are played by a group of handsome hounds. Childish in nature, these shows will definitely appeal to kids of the 80's (especially those that can remember the BBC broomcuboard).
If you're old enough to have watched and loved one, the other should definitely appeal to you.
Dogtanian was a favourite of mine growing up and watching television. It was only later that I discovered Willy Fog, to be honest they are both very similar in a lot of respects and of course they are aimed at younger children but there is a lot of appeal if you appreciate older animation and that retro feeling of nostalgia you get when watching something so old.
If you like one of them you are going to at least enjoy the other one.
So the thing about that both Dogtanian and the three Muskehounds and 80 Days around the world with Willy fog is that they are both anime series that have been adapted from literature which Gudio and Maurizio de angelis composed the music for these titles 80 Days around the world with Willy fog and Dogtanian and the three Muskehounds has the whole esthetic for 80s Anime in the English dub 80 Days around the world with Willy fog was based on the book Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne and Dogtanian and the three Muskehounds is based on the book The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas both considered to be the greatest 80s anime series adapted from literature.

Animal Treasure Island and 80 Days with Willy Fog are whimsical, fun adventure anime involving various animals. They'd appeal to the same audiences, and are cute to watch - try it on for size!
Animal Treasure Island is very similar in its style to that of Willy Fog. It has that sort of old parchment look to it and it is charming and adorable. The main difference is obviously the cast being anthropromorphic animals in Willy Fog with no humans but Animal Treasure Island has some humans thrown in.
Both are retellings of famous stories we are bound to know and love and both are aimed at children although there is plenty to be enjoyed in both for adults (apart from the English voice acting in Animal Treasure Island!). I would find myself recommending both if you like either one.

Nadia and Willy Fog have an equally high sense of adventure and are great for the kiddies. Nadia is probably a bit more dark, but if you liked one you'd surely enjoy the other.
Two tin toy mice, a father and child, who can only move when their key is wound, awaken in a toy store, only to get tossed out with the trash. In order to survive the very, very dangerous world, they venture on to find a way to become 'self winding'. Along the way they meet a future telling frog, an animal theater troup, an inventor muskrat and others. They also must be careful to avoid the clutches of Manny the Rat, a cruel rat who enslaves toys to steal for him! will our two heroes ever be free to walk their own path, or will they be stuck running in circles?
