Sword Art Online

Feb 7, 2014

Well I have to say, this has got to be the hardest anime to review and rate that I have come across so far. It is one hell of a mixture. But I did had a great time watching it, was very entertaining and that is what really matters.

On the plus side, I loved the setting/premise, a world where virtual reality has been perfected and MMORPG's truly come to life. The RPG gamer in me was really happy while watching this anime. DAMN I wanted to be in SAO so bad.
The animation was great, especially that of the action sequences. I loved em. Coupled with amazing soundtrack, they really became epic... See full review

Steins;Gate

Feb 7, 2014

WOW, now this was an amazing anime.
Its been a long while since I was this interested in an anime and enjoyed it this much.

The characters in this anime are just AWESOME. They are so well made and you just get to love them immediately. The main protagonist is a great one. I immediately liked him and he just kept on getting better and better. Loved his dialogues and character. I self proclaimed evil mad scientist who is a actually a good guy.
You get to feel for and love every main character, and even some of the side characters. Their meetings, bafoonery etc etc, its just fun to... See full review

Special A

Feb 7, 2014

I loved Ouran High School and many recommended this anime saying its similar to it. Well it sure was similar but no where near that good.

The first season(first 12 ep) were a real bore for me, I considered dropping it two or three times during it. The jokes and stuff weren't really funny, the characters didn't seem that interesting to me and the main romance was UGHHH unbearable, Gayness factor was too damn high.
But the second season was pretty good in comparison. Other characters got some development and their arcs and romances were much better than the main one. Kept me interested and I... See full review

School Days

Feb 7, 2014

Well this sure was an Unusual experience.
For the first half of the anime, I was really bored. The whole romance stuff is not my thing and it being not funny made it worse. I just kept watching it because it only has 12 episodes so I thought I should finish it. It got better after the first half or so. And DAMN! that ending, was a WTF! moment for sure.
It is more of a psychological anime about relationships and break ups and how baldy it effects those involved but wasn't executed well.

Hero is a horny, stupid, careless teenager who get more and more hornier as the story... See full review

Ninja Scroll: The Series

Aug 22, 2014

Sort of like a sequel to the classic movie of the same name, it didn't had that much gore and nudity etc as compared to the movie but did had a better story.

Action was a mixed bag. Sometimes it was good, while other times it was just meh. This anime had even more weird ass ninja's and powers compared to the movie.

Best thing about the anime for me was the soundtrack, most specifically the main theme, the heroic one. Loved it.

Recommended for those who liked the movie.

Ninja Scroll

Aug 22, 2014

Pretty good anime film having good action with lots of gore and character development. The hero was your typical cool-ish nice guy with great power with the heroin being pretty interesting, it was cool to see how she develops throughout the film.

The story is about a mercenary Ninja hired by a group who gets caught up in the struggle of power between clans, which has some relation to his past. It was okayish.

There were a lot of weird ass ninja's in the film with really weird powers and skills.

Mushishi

Aug 22, 2014

Well this certainly was a different experience.

Mushishi is a very episodic anime with each episode depicting a case or a problem or something related to the creatures known as Mushi, which are special creatures present everywhere but only a selected few can see them. And a Mushi master, our protagonist, goes in and tries to solve the problems.

I really don't like episodic things but Mushishi somehow managed to make each 20 mins an interesting and beautiful tale, some better than other obviously. That is one hell of a task considering aside from our hero, there really are no... See full review

Hellsing Ultimate

Aug 20, 2015

"The bird of the Hermes is my name,
eating my wings to make me tame."
Hellsing Ultimate is a 10 part OVA anime based on the Hellsing manga that follows it very closely compared the earlier attempt which contained 13 episodes and had to stray off because of catching up the the story at the time. And unlike many, I did liked that early attempt and still do but this, however, COMPLETELY BLOWS IT AWAY!! Bigger budget, better animation, better action, better plot and way more GORE.

The story follows Hellsing organization which has only one goal, to rid the world from vampires/monsters... See full review

Deadman Wonderland

Jan 4, 2015

Action. Gore. Brutality. Fan service. Craziness. Abuses/curses. This anime is definitely aimed at a more adult audience. It starts off with a bang so I was interested in it from the get-go. We don't get any explanation about the world, the setting, the event etc in the start. Instead, we get bits here and there in almost each episodes, this increases your interest about finding out everything.

The protagonist is your usual cliched kid who gets some kind of special power but doesn't know how to work it yet etc. I thought he would be yet another wimpy annoying brat, but thankfully he didn't go in... See full review

Chaos;HEAd

Feb 7, 2014

It was an okayish kinda goodish anime, know what I mean.
The main character was kinda interesting seeing as he felt like a normal extra anime and gaming nerd. Wasn't that likeable though.
The story is what was really interesting and could have been a great thing but the execution was not good. And being a 12 episode anime, it took way tooo long to start things up and then wrapped everything up in a rush.
I really was interested in the first few episodes and was really wanting to see where the story was heading but sadly, it didn't pan out well.
And other than the main... See full review

Btooom!

Jan 4, 2015

A more gory, brutal, adult themed Sword art online anime I would say.

The story is that a lot of people, including the protagonist, find themselves on a deserted island where they are forced to play an exact real life version of a popular online game. It was interesting enough to get me hooked and anticipated for every next episode.

The protagonist was good, in a way that they didn't made him too strong or something, but didn't made him a complete wimp too, kind of a balanced type which you normally don't get to see. But they just had to include an annoying girl with big boobs to... See full review

Blue Exorcist

Feb 7, 2014

It was a fun and entertaining anime. The pacing was good, didn't drag on anywhere, the action was good too.
The premise of the anime is cool and interesting with all the demon world stuff and going against Satan etc etc. Although the story telling is cliched but because of good execution, it is still enjoyable to watch.
Most of the characters are your usual action anime characters, like the hero having lots of guts, not so much brains and great potential inside. But there were some interesting ones too, but sadly they didn't get that much screen time or closure.

I did feel... See full review

Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day

Feb 7, 2014

Was a great and somewhat surprising experience. I was expecting it to be good and all but not that good since its only 11 episodes long as I thought it won't sink into me that much, boy was I wrong.

IT was a really touching, emotional and satisfying anime. Focusing on a loss of someone special and friendship. The execution was great.

The soundtrack was amazing, especially the song that always played at the end of the episode, really took the scenes to new heights. DEM FEELS all around.
Loved the animation/art too, really detailed and beautiful.

It felt kinda similar to... See full review

Afro Samurai

Aug 22, 2014

An extremely powerful samurai with an afro, hell bent on revenge, accompanied by a companion voiced by Samuel L Jackson himself, what's not to like.

Story is a pretty straight forward revenge tale with some past mistakes and connections thrown in the mix.

Great art style/graphics and often awesome gory/brutal action. Soundtrack is pretty good too, hip hop and whatnot, reminded me of Samurai Champloo.

Samuel L Jackson voice acting was the best, typical nigga style with lots of humor.
