Although it did not really make me feel that emotional, many people have said that Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai ( yeah I know a mouthful, most people jsut call it anohana) made in 2011 made them very emotional and I have to agree the last scene is pretty great but a little too cliche for me. I have many other reccomendations, but I don't think you will like anime from 80's and 90's because you have only started watching anime.
I've seen Angel Beats it was pretty good, the only scene that made me emtional was the one with the train wreck though, where everyone was willing to donate their organs. I've seen many other emotional animes, but mostly older thing that new anime watchers wouldn't like.
