Hello, welcome to my profile! The picture is of me settling a bet over whether a completely untrained and out-of-shape dude could roundhouse kick a cup that was higher than his head. Don't I look awesome?

I'm a recently graduated physics/math major who writes anime reviews for some reason. As I finished up my physics major, I realized that I just wasn't interested in pursuing the field as a career, so instead I kicked some ass at my GRE's and got an assistantship to study at the department of statistics at Colorado State University. Why statistics? Well, WHY NOT?

Besides anime, my main interests are writing, strategic gaming (poker, magic: the gathering, go, chess, etc), and internet piracy.

As far as my reviews/star ratings go: In general, a 6 (***) is watchable, a 7 (***1/2) is good and an 8 (****) is a must-see.

Thank you for your response! ^^ I didn't expect such a good answer in less than 1 day! But that's probably because the main chunk of the internet is pretty slow and sloppy, so I'm used to slow and sloppy replies as well.

Anyway, luckily I am pretty passionate about writing. I'm not thinking of becoming a professional writer, but it it one of my favourite things to do when I'm able to dodge the pile of homework school regularly throws at me. I haven't explored all the different kinds of writing yet, but I'm trying to focus on reviewing and giving critique.

To be honest, I had never heard of those writers before you mentioned them. But I'm thankful you did; Their reviews are marvellous to read and analyse. I also started by slightly "copying" from one writer in particular, Dimitri Verhulst to be precise, but I think I'm aquiring a writing style of my own bit by bit. I don't want to rush things of course!

And finally, I guess it's pretty obvious that writing requires alot of writing. The road to perfection is paved with practise after all. No intentions of being smug, but I think (at least I hope) that my level of writing is somewhere in the nether of mediocrity. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could I ask you to have a look at a review of mine when I finish a proper one? Sadly my Dutch teacher is burying me with book after book after essay once again, so I don't have enough time on hands to write one now or anytime soon. Still, my question remains pretty much the same. And again, you're certainly not obliged to look even one second at it. In fact, I'd be honoured if you would!

Thank you once again for your reply and I hope that somewhere in the far, far future, I can indeed be an "amazing writer". Until then, please bear with my long-windedness and subpar writing! ^^

Hey Vivavruit! I'd like to ask you a question: In short, what is the best way for me to practise writing reviews? Right now, I'm not aiming to be a site reviewer. Although I'd love to write for the glorious site that Anime-Planet is, I have to face the facts. I'm way too young, and my English is compared to other site reviewers just subpar. Perhaps because I'm Dutch, so English isn't my first language, but I find that a weak excuse... Anyway, I love writing, and I've already been doing so for some time now. I'd like to know if you have anything useful for me to practise on, except for grammar/spelling since I know that I need to work on those, so that I may dream of applying to the title of "Site Reviewer" one day. Any kind of answer would be much appreciated! (:

On Ghibli Viewing Order:  You must have despised Gedo Senki.  I haven't seen it myself, but I'm happily avoiding it.  Quick question, though:  Where's Whisper of the Heart?  I couldn't help but notice its glaring omission.
