Hello, welcome to my profile! The picture is of me settling a bet over whether a completely untrained and out-of-shape dude could roundhouse kick a cup that was higher than his head. Don't I look awesome?

I'm a recently graduated physics/math major who writes anime reviews for some reason. As I finished up my physics major, I realized that I just wasn't interested in pursuing the field as a career, so instead I kicked some ass at my GRE's and got an assistantship to study at the department of statistics at Colorado State University. Why statistics? Well, WHY NOT?

Besides anime, my main interests are writing, strategic gaming (poker, magic: the gathering, go, chess, etc), and internet piracy.

As far as my reviews/star ratings go: In general, a 6 (***) is watchable, a 7 (***1/2) is good and an 8 (****) is a must-see.

Hey, just wanted to say I thought your Koi Kaze review was great. You described it perfectly without giving anything away.

Also, I was wondering if you had any tips for someone who wants to write reviews. I’ve definitely seen enough anime series, and I’m bored waiting for others to come out, so I wanted to do something in between.

"You're confusing plot summary with a review. If you actually read my other reviews, you'll notice that I seldom go into the details of exactly what is happening".

I think your confusing writing a review with blogging. There is certain criteria that goes into writing a review my friend. And I have read your other reviews and it seems that really your just some dude on the internet who gives animes he personally likes good ratings and animes he personally dislikes bad ratings. Thats not shocking as its commonplace on the internet, but that doesnt mean that what you write can be considered a review of a series. Not to mention your points lack...well everything:

"A. This retreads other Macross series before it." So does Gundam, but it doesnt make the newest Gundam series Gundam 00 any worse or any better of an anime. Actually lots of anime are retreads of other animes so if your gonna use that then you better try harder cause thats not much a point.

"B. It has too many plot lines." Debatable, at best. Not to mention totally subjective, especially in the way you presented it. Had you given examples, or actually named a couple of plot points to support this, then perhaps the person reading your review could have a better understanding of what your talking about.

"C. None of these plot lines tie together well." Once again, without explaining the plot, something you generally dont do, you cant really make this point. You cant have the cookie and eat it to. You cant sit there and talk about how fail the plot was if you dont ever talk about the actual plot. It doesnt work that way. It doesnt lend you any kind of credibility on the subject matter.

"E. Rather than tie things together, the ending is just an orgy of mecha battle." Ill skip ahead but an anime having a weak ending is commonplace. Even your great GTO ran out of gas as it drew near its end and delivered a clunker for an ending. Making this point is like saying children are small. Even with all that, its still debatable. Macross Frontier did tie things together, the two ppl below my inital response agreed that it tied things together. Better then in GTO, better then in most animes.

"I write a bunch of reviews, and you pick out this one to be horrible and poorly written? Whatever, fanboy." You seem to think your someone of great importance. I was looking up MF for my own curiosity and happened upon your review. I dont care that it was you that wrote it, hell if you want I can go ahead and point out the flaws of each and everyone of your reviews if you want to. I already read two of them, and so far all of them are as poorly written and ooze of words that belong on a blog site and not on a review.

Heres the thing, coming across a badly written "review" and speaking out against it doesnt make someone a fan boy. Esp since I havent defended it or said its the greatest anime ever made. In fact, the biggest irony here seems to be you. The way you gush over the animes you really like, even going far as to say GTO changed your life, makes me come to the realization that...your a bigger fanboy then I could ever dream to be.

Interesting that you continue to call me a fanboy? My beef with you isnt that you wrote a negative review of an anime I liked, but simply that you wrote a SHITTY negative review of an anime I liked. You said that I didnt make any real arguments for why the review was wrong, well I just did and I can tell from your one sentence response to that argument that there isnt much you can say against it. Which btw Ill go ahead and destroy right now:

"Lol. I'm assuming every anime you watch has bugs ripped out of starship troopers, predictable pop-star careers and clumsy love triangles."

Well heres the thing, what bugs? What predictable pop star career and what clumsy love triangle are you talking about? Do you once ever mention that the bugs are actually The Vajra? No. Do you talk about the story? No. Which kinda makes one wonder how a reviewer can shred a plot that he never explains? Your review of the characters is equally perplexing. Do you ever once mention the main character? No. Actually you somehow manage to write an entire review without ever mentioning the main character by name. You write that Ranka Lee is unlikeable...thats it. You say there are about five times as many characters as the show really needed? Uh...are you gonna tell us why, are you gonna mention their names so we can get an idea or are we to take your word for it? You call the love triangle a disaster? I see two people mentioned, but I dont see a third.

So Yeah sorry for the late response. Completely forgot about this ^^

"I'm not sure where you really got the impression that I was butthurt". A couple reasons why I got the impression. The big one is this. You responded to me because you thought I was insulting you (I wasnt, so Idk why you keep grading my effort to do so) which means you took some personal issue with what I said. Thats usually what "butthurt" means. The opposite feeling would of been you not giving a shit and going about your business.

Anyways you want me to present you with some real arguments as to why I felt your review was wrong? Sure why not. Your review, especially your review of the story was simply a facetious rant full of big words, big words that signified nothing. Take a look at your review of the MF story. If I were to scratch out the word Macross Frontier, no one would have any freaking clue about what anime your were talking about. When people review a story, they usually, idk, talk about the story. You do no such thing, its 300 words or so of you saying nothing. Actually I could plug in what your wrote into any review of an anime I didnt like and pass it off as a good opinion. Its that generic.

Heres the thing, I've read your other reviews, and compared them to the one you wrote about MF and one could easily see you didnt give two shits about putting forth a decent effort. Your review was sloppy, half-assed, totally biased and inaccurate to a fucking T. Anybody whos watched MF would utterly disagree on everything that was said. Look brah, if MF wasnt your cup of tea, then it wasnt your cup of tea, but just because you didnt like it doesnt mean it was a shitty anime. If your gonna write a review about an anime that you didnt like, then at least write an unbiased one thats not misleading. as opposed to a half assed rant about how pissed you were that you had to sit through 25 ep. of stupidity. That kind of shit is amateurish and not befitting of a "veteran" reviewer. That sir, is my argument as to why your review was wrong.

I'm thinking about writing a community review for Only Yesterday and I know you are a veteran reviewer. Do you have any tips or links for writing reviews? And, I am by no means an eloquent writer. I asked VivisQueen to write a review but it seems she is no longer active.
