I'm a recently graduated physics/math major who writes anime reviews for some reason. As I finished up my physics major, I realized that I just wasn't interested in pursuing the field as a career, so instead I kicked some ass at my GRE's and got an assistantship to study at the department of statistics at Colorado State University. Why statistics? Well, WHY NOT?
Besides anime, my main interests are writing, strategic gaming (poker, magic: the gathering, go, chess, etc), and internet piracy.
As far as my reviews/star ratings go: In general, a 6 (***) is watchable, a 7 (***1/2) is good and an 8 (****) is a must-see.

You know how when everyone goes on and on about this great show that you think was more so-so and it just makes you want to bash it harder than it deserves? It's a bit like that, although I didn't think I was ragging on Toradora that much. I just find it average and don't know what all the fuss is about. I couldn't warm to the characters, I found the content unoriginal, and I never quite got how the romance was supposed to work. I did like the animation and the plot overall wasn't bad - heck, had its moments of giggles. For me it was like a wishy-washy Haruhi. But I appreciate it's one of the most popular things on earth right now, so maybe I just wasn't paying attention *<--- actually thinks everyone's just blind*.
Incidentally, it was a good idea to drop RotLW at ep 3. It only get worse. I'm on episode five and there was a ball where Deedlit runs around being admired by all the ladies. Wow. Just wow.

I was so bored watching Record of the Lodoss OVA that I thought I'd come and check up with your rating of the show. Because maybe I missed something and it's really great or something. Lo and behold, you dropped it at episode 3, the episode I'm watching and groaning to right now. Probably one of the greater mediocre yawn-fests I've seen in a long while. Kinda like FMP and Toradora, generic in every way for their genres, offering nothing that I haven't seen before. Anyway, glad to know I wasn't just going mad.

I agree that anti-heroes are often chaotic good and chaotic evil, the one you should be telling that to is arientd. =P

can't believe you haven't watched Itazura Na Kiss yet ^^ .... was looking for your review on it... but great anime list/ reviews - i'm picking up some want to watch ones ..
