I'm an older fan of anime and I've always enjoyed these wonderfully creative shows from Japan. The visual charm of these shows hold a special appeal for me, but it's really the stories and the characters that grab me the most. In additon to the shows, the community of anime fans is often an enjoyable as the shows themselves!

Hi, I really enjoy your review of Welcome to NHK, and despite it's about loneliness and depression, I did'nt find it sad.

I know that animes line this are rare bit you may know any similar. Van be in theme or style or somehow emocional.

I enoyed your reviews, your perspective feels like a well worn coat. I do hope you find the time to write more.

Hi uncaringbear. Thank you very  much for your kind compliment! I'm glad that you enjoy the reviews I write.

I occasionally write anime and manga reviews for Anime UK News, which you can check out here. There's no easy way to find reviews by me specifically, so best to search by title. I have written reviews for the following anime: Eden of the East Movie 1, Musashi: Dream of the Last Samurai, TO: 2001 Nights OVA, Redline, Disappearance of Haruhi, Melancholy of Haruhi & Nyoron, Wolf Children, Black Rock ShooterManga: Princess Knight, Pluto, Domu: A Child's Dream, The Drifting Classroom, Solanin, Tanpenshu, Astro Boy

However, I do co-host a podcast for AUKN as well, and you can get all the episodes here.

I'm highly enjoying doing the podcasts just because it's a different way to express my views on anime/manga. Hopefully, you'll like them too.

If you have limited anime watching time, often, checking out movies and OVAs are the way to go!  These are often much quicker to view than series and you can get some great anime experiences out of them. (Although, often OVAs are connected to a series, and therefore better to see the series first ... one-shot movies are prolly a better bet. I've listed some I recommend below.)  And can list more if asked!

It -is- hard to narrow down favorite genres when you like all sorts of different anime and are willing to see almost anything. <-- me

But after awhile, I've noticed that I tend to enjoy some genres more consistently or more often than others and that anime I really, really enjoyed tend to often end up in these buckets. Which is how I ended up listing the genres that I list as my favorites!

By no means do I limit myself only to these, though.  And I am willing to watch anime that come from my least favorite genre, as well.
