Its...alright. You know.
I was told by a friend it was the best thing ever, I tried watching it and yeah it was alright. The more I watched it though the more it became apparent I was watching a kid's cartoon. I would have loved this when I was younger but its just too simplistic and childish to hold me today.
That's not to say its bad of course but I stopped watching not too far in- the main characters have teamed up with some others to try and find a death staff in the hands of some bad guys or something like that? And I was never drawn back to watch it again.

It's not about good or not, Fairy tail is directed to a younger audience. I've felt this from the start. For example if you watch: "Claymore" you can see how serious it is, also "Gun Grave/Gungrave" and many other animes. No blood has appeared at all, so far I've seen (episode 41).Not to offend someone, but this anime is really intended for "kids" or a young audience if you like. I'm still going to stick with it tho since I like random and idiotic stuff for some reason... ^^

ah, fairy tail, ok it was good the first 20 episodes, the fights are boring i hate the emotes when they go from normal to ragemode and then 5 seconds after battle their again like hey how are u.. about to drop this anime its fighting a guild after guild its getting boring already even in manga its boring.

Fairy Tail is a difficult anime to submerse yourself into. It is rather slow paced in the beginning, but once you stick with it for a while, you'll understand why your friend recommended it to you.

I guess everyone has their own opinions. Maybe if you watch a few more episodes in, you might end up loving it (:
Personally, Fairy Tail is one of the best I've seen in awhile.
I thought that every episodes is so funny and good...probably because I've wanted to watch the anime and was excited to watch it.
