Hagoromo Mishin

Aug 9, 2014

A wonderfully short sweet series that is a pleasure to read.

Kodama Yuki is a mangaka with a distinctive style, and if you've read Sakamichi no Apollon, one of her more famous series, you will recognise it straight away when you pick up this volume.  Her characters are drawn in a wonderful clear style, and the landscapes and spaces they occupy don't contain any extraeneous detail.

The main character in this story is a college age young man, rather innocent, and fascinated by bridges.  One morning he finds a swan caught in some scaffolding and helps it to free itself.  Kodama-sensei uses this as a jumping off point to spin a gentle fable which is grounded in reality.

A recommended read for all romance lovers out there.
